The 4.7 V8 is such a smooth and even torquey motor compared to the 3.4/4.0 V6 in the 4 Runners

Absolutely

I’ve owned a 3rd Gen 4Runner for 5 years as my wheeling vehicle as well as a GX470 for the last 4 years as my family hauler. I recently sold the 3rd Gen and lifted and outfitted the GX as my new wheeler. Honestly you can’t go wrong with either. But overall, yes, the GX is a better vehicle. Which is hard to comprehend knowing how good the 3rd Gen is.

I have a 3rd gen, less electronics to fix. Manual hub conversion too. Reliable and fun to drive. I also have a 2021 Trd off Road for comfort. The answer is Yes lol

I actually don’t mind the stock infotainment unit at all. Works well for me. Not sure why everyone hates it.

Because when you want to listen to your own music off your phone or use the maps it’s sucks.

Upgrade Because the gx and 5th gen 4runner are stablemates to the Land Cruiser Prado.

I wanted a 4 runner but for some strange reason here in Michigan the GX is on average $3-5K cheaper ?!? I got a 07 GX Sport[black Wood trim W special stabilizer] with 74K miles for $15K .... Put a Old Man EMU lift with 275/17s Cooper's with Method wheels .... First of all I LOVE THE V8 ! its SMOTH and so much better for towing my Boat .... The EMU lift ride Firm but much less body roll .... Over all Glad I got the GX over the 4runner

Cheaper because of maintenance. More maintenance required compared to 4runner. Also GX has more electrical. For example 4wd full on GX.

I have both.. both v8, my 4runner is my long driving/camping vehicle. I just recently got a gx..coz my 4runner is 2wd🤦🏻‍♂️

The 3rd gen looks way cooler in my opinion and I own a 5th gen.

There's a 2006 GX470 down from my house with 258k miles for sale. $15,000...I'm too broke at the moment. 😭 It's a soccer mom car. Her kids are grown and she can't keep it. Been serviced by the same Lexus dealership its entire life. One owner. I died a little knowing I couldn't buy it.

we all came from 4runners brother. u gotta crawl before you walk player. gx's are THE 4wd wagons in the US now. GX470's are the new 80 series lol

Your also comparing a 1996 to 2002 (4Runner) to a 2003 to 2009 (lexus)
