🧠 Quotes (my favorite)
“The new oil is ideas. It’s all digital. All the new fortunes are being created in ideas space. In fact, if you’re starting out today as a young, ambitious person, you don’t learn real estate; you don’t learn coal and oil mining; you don’t go into the extraction of physical resources to create wealth. You go into ideas space. You go into programming, books, movies, blogs and podcasts and building robots, which are mostly intellectual property underneath.”
"The most powerful money-makers are actually individual brands"
"Today in Society... You get rewarded for creative work"

I do not own the audio source/s used to create this video. If any of the owners want their content taken down please contact me via the email in the About section of my channel.
All works of commentary, reviewing, video editing and (many times) the mixing of different content sources do come from this channel's creativity. Thus, I believe there is a "transformation of value" from any particular raw audio source. This value transformation and, given the non-fictional / educational nature of the audio source contents, makes it a stronger case for "fair use" right. Also, I believe this video is supportive to the owners of the audio source contents, as it helps to spread their invaluable message in a positive way. But in any case, as mentioned in the previous paragraph, if any owner do not want their content to be featured in this video, please contact me :)

After years of consuming podcast videos etc etc etc my conclusion is im Sick of it. Considering stoping everything and im 30. Maybe new generations con just be getting information non stop everyday from every single angle. But for me is just stupid. As a human and a man i want to focus on my task and objectives and the rest of the time just relax my mind not watching other people talk about whatever or some stupid videos of pranks and other stupid sutff.

Ideas are not the new idea. It is something that has been around since we could communicate. The difference is more people are sitting up and taking notice of how bad their life sucks and wants change.

We can see what we are missing now. I saw a video of someone kayaking in El Nido. I ended up there 4y later because I saw that video. Hard to sit in a cube if you don’t have to

No, the difference is previously it was very difficult to reach such a large audience. You had to become a pop star to address millions of people before the internet. That was very difficult because there were many gatekeepers (studios, labels, radio stations). Podcasters and YTers are the new rock stars. Still, you have to be cautious about your "platform". Pop stars got screwed by record labels and content creators can get screwed by platforms.
I love your channel. Thanks so much for all your hard work! I Predict this channel blowing up in 2023, good luck.

I think comparing creators with apps (as Chamath does) might be a mistake. You follow a content creator because he inspires you, has similar interests, he entertains you, he makes you learn or he feels like somebody close. Content creators could resemble more the "sports idols", "actors" or "astronauts" of the past, but the difference now is the closeness with the community and the niche focus.

Oil is the basis of literally everything. Real estate provides people with homes, businesses with offices, factories, processing facilities, warehouses, distribution facilities, service facilities, and raw materials are needed to construct all of it. Oil and its wonderful derivatives underlie all of it and get it all moving. Content creation is neat, and you don’t need anyone’s permission, but what’s the barrier to entry? And how noisy can things get?
@illuminated2438
Жыл бұрын
Correction: you do need somebody’s permission: the platform. Content creation, unlike cash flows from real estate or oil, is incredibly shaky and unreliable, because at any moment some fascist big tech firm can delete your cash flow.

3:39 the first mistake in judgement is to state “the new model” is that “you get rewarded for creative work” because it has always been that way…..the (few) people that get rewarded are the entrepreneurial spirits that always do just that ..these are the Henry Fords the Wright Brother’s Etc but not in the way it’s proposed here. When 8 billion people are just producing creative content bla bla bla who is gonna take care of the rest? We already have far too much of content at our disposal from a thousand + sources platforms and devices. The machines, algorithms and robots ain’t gonna do the real life stuff for us.
Omg so glad I found your channel. I didn't know that I needed this, but boy do I need it. Unfortunately you can't eat or live in content creation and entertainment. The youth should be inspired in to the technologies handcraft such as engineering, and research and development for future tech. And in second place "consumption of content" and creative work.

Chamath wants to focus on subjects with logic even when the issue requires sublime touch
I agree with Naval’s assessment of the future. However, I’m not sure about what Chamath was saying about content creators. Content creators will big for those with unique proposition but they will not be as Google or Apple or any of the other infrastructure companies. Content creators are a a one way street. You go there to consume something. You don’t go there to build something on top of them. They are not a platform or infrastructure. As the margin of cost for acquiring knowledge goes to zero most content creators will fall off because I don’t need to follow a KZreadr to learn how to trade stocks, or buy real estate or whatever. We will have access to AI systems that will provide that knowledge for “free” (without KZreadrs).

You need a big wave of content creator to have a huge AI wave after that. This first AI wave is pretty small compared to what is to come after a huge wave of content creation. For now content creation is reaching the average citizen and the bubble will get a lot bigger before bursting
@MilanElan
Жыл бұрын
Agree that the value of content creators will go to zero. The content that is created today will be owned by the KZreads of the world and it's AI will replicate it, squeezing creators out in an infinite wheel that AI will win. At best, creators should seek platforms that grant them ownership of their stuff and copyright protection from AI scrapers. Don't know if YT terms of service grant these protections today

I can't argue about the time that you need to perform a necessary job to survive, but besides that if you make it a priority you might find the time
Anything I can copy becomes my property. Anything I buy i own and can lend or copy to anybody else. that's the reality. Your only choose is to make if valuable to buy despite being available from anybody else. A book with valuable signature of author with personalised wishes for you. The problem of this world is boxing it and pretending you can't copy it and it's scarce. And intermediates between you, your "content" whatever it means and your thing consumers. including taxes and boxing you in some lagal system. when you access internet you aren't in your country anymore and certainly you aren't in USA.
Now with chat gpt everyone can become a content creator 🙂.
Only 24 hrs/day for humans and unless the need for sleep can be reduced/eliminated (CRISPR gene editing?), there is a theoretical limit on how much content can be consumed, and therefore how much is profitable. Eventually, the content creator - content consumer equilibrium would approach a Zipf-like law. Oil is simply a form of energy and human energy demand will continue to increase. Not a very good analogy between oil and digital content.
@markislivingdeliberately
Жыл бұрын
As a creator you’re not just creating content for one person and their 24/hour cycle. It’s millions of humans.
@MrLee-gj2jz
Жыл бұрын
@@markislivingdeliberately That is correct, but does not change the fact that not all content uploaded to YT can or will be consumed (500+ hrs of video uploaded to YT per minute). People will look up content based on their needs and evolving trends. For eg, the John Mearsheimer video on Ukraine 8 years back started getting so many views after the war started in 2022, not before. There is no guarantee that a subscriber is going to watch every single video of a YT content creator, just because the dude is famous or artificially propped up by YT.
