“For I have a single definition of success: you look in the mirror every evening, and wonder if you disappoint the person you were at 18, right before the age when people start getting corrupted by life. Let him or her be the only judge; not your reputation, not your wealth, not your standing in the community, not the decorations on your lapel. If you do not feel ashamed, you are successful. All other definitions of success are modern constructions; fragile modern constructions.” ― Nassim Nicholas Taleb, The Bed of Procrustes: Philosophical and Practical Aphorisms

Commendations for the work you put into making this video. But I wonder what Mr. Taleb would think of his ideas being turned into an "11 Rules / How to" short video when he himself dismisses such short-hand quick-to-digest knowledge in his essay Antifragile, and when his own website prohibits others from giving him titles like the Sunday Times did by naming his book as one of the 12 most influential books since WWII (mentioned in the video's description). KZread is KZread, and clickbait evidently works, but as he himself put it at 2:02 of this video: "For almost all people I have met, external, and not internal, success came with an increase in fragility."

Surely the best way for Americans to live resilient lives would be to act collectively to create an efficient, all-inclusive national health system, to ban military weapons being held by private individuals, and to restrict gun ownership generally. Every other civilized nation managed to do that long ago. If they did those things, a lot of resilience would immediately be built into their existence at very little cost and they could think about more creative and productive topics, as befits a rich, advanced nation.

What product or service does society want? You become the one who delivers it to society and deliver at scale. Be patient until society needs you Become great at something via your Specific knowledge, Knowledge that only you know Comes out of your hobbies and passions You are more likely to have skill sets in these sectors (before society figures out how to train others) Brand - develop reputation Take on accountability w the brand Become really good at SOMETHING where u are uniquely qualified - build brand by giving away free stuff The most powerful brands in the world are individual: Trump, Oprah, Cher, Naval, Madonna Must have Leverage - critical Humans are not evolved to understand leverage We are wired to be one for one - input = output Leverage is multiplier effect Diff kinds of leverage: Labor - oldest form of leverage (not a great one in the modern world) Capital - money - this is a god one Products that have no marginal cost of replication Brand new form (code, books, media) - media presence Thanks Naval!!
