Why You NEED to Buy a Cheap Old Go Kart!

This is the follow up video to our popular "why you need to build a cheap drift trike" video, except with go karts! Everyone should buy a cheap go kart if they have any interest in competitive driving, wrenching, fabrication, or any other motorsports interests or ambitions. The cheap yard kart is the gateway to everything motorsports! Go kart parts are cheap, they're easy to learn on and modify, and you can build a fast go kart for cheap! It doesn't take much to make an old go kart go 50 MPH. In today's video, we put together this vintage Black Hawk go kart with a Tillotson 212cc engine, and it has CRAZY acceleration! The go kart originally came with twin 2 stroke engines, which had much shorter gearing (because two strokes typically rev much higher than the equivalent four stroke). Top speed however is around 25 mph. We'll fix that soon!

that would make an epic Drift Kart, slightly taller tires on the rear to get some clearance for that big sprocket, or a jack shaft to keep that same ratio with that size tire, make an old school drifter out of it, or get ahold of ratherbwelding and see if he cant build y'all a 2 speed jackshaft like he put on a few of his karts, so you have the tall gear for pickup and torque then a smaller gear for top end anyways, pretty great vid guys

On a go kart like that 15 feels pretty fast lol. Bigger tires or smaller sprocket lol. Throw a torque converter on it.

Your neck is gunna hurt with the Helmet Of Shame for the rest of the day lol. Always fun watching you two rip on a cheap go kart. I remember I bought mine for about $500 at a yard sale. Got a few good years out of it. I hope to someday get an older go kart and restore it for my son and I someday when he's big enough to ride.

We need an update video on the truck, it's looking great! Bigger rear tires on the cart, more ground clearance for the sprocket and it'll change the gear ratio so it should make it faster.

Was watching your video of the old 2 speed mini bike with the jackshaft and a 2nd clutch, interesting concept, i know bully clutches can be rpm adjusted and a (max torque) video showing if you shorten spring it engages later, could this concept be applied to a go kart, for example once your first clutch tops out rpm the second one on the jackshaft engages with a taller gear??? Try it out guys i watch c&c all the time wondering what you guys are going to try next, you guys remind me of Monster Garage with go-karts the cross cart and Ducati is insane still want to see the snowmobile engine go-kart or big four-wheeler engine shifter go-kart, it would be awesome if you start letting fans help you with builds I would be honored just to be your cameraman keep it up guys great videos I want to see that Trophy Truck do some jumps lol

The 550cc SnotRod is awesome. that thing is built for speed. Do some 1/8 mile runs with it.
