Why You'll Quit Streaming And How To Avoid It

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

You’ll quit streaming, with hundreds of thousands of streamers going live every month, the odds are against you, but the number #1 reason most Streamers quit is actually completely preventable, as you’ll learn in this video.
It’s called the “Spotlight Effect” and it effects every single person on the planet, it stops you doing all of things you want to do not just in content creation, but in life.
The idea of the spotlight effect is simple, it’s the feeling like you’ve been pushed out onto a stage, the spotlight has hit you, and the entire audience is sat quietly judging every action you do, you’re breathing manually, aware of your tongue resting on your teeth, and you don’t know what to do with your hands.
I learned about this effect 4 years ago when I was diagnosed with an Acute Anxiety condition, all of the things I loved to do I couldn’t out of the intense fear of being judged, but 4 years later, some therapy, and a lot of effort every single day, I am now a full-time content creator.

How To Grow On Twitch?
If you want to grow your Twitch stream, it is important to be critical. Being critical isn’t a bad thing, people say, “Oh don’t be so critical of yourself!”.
But there are a lot of things you can control and improve, such as your visuals, audio, and most importantly your content that you’re creating. Watch back your VoD and be honest with yourself, is it up to scratch. Does your mic sound good? Are you engaging? Is it easy to watch and enjoy or is there something that is off-putting? Be honest, push yourself to grow, and become a better entertainer!
Because at the end of the day, the only way you are going to grow your stream is by growing yourself and being critical in a positive way.

What Bitrate And Settings Should I Use For Streaming?
The easiest way to understand bitrate is by calling what it actually is, your upload speed to the Twitch servers.
Now you’ll need a higher bitrate depending on how high quality you want your stream to be, this means 1080p 60 frames per second will need a bitrate of 6000, which roughly equals 6megabits upload speed on your end being taken up
By lowering your resolution and framerate, you can make it a lot easier to stream, for example, if you set your base canvas size to 1920x1080, but change your output to 1280x720 otherwise known as 720p you drop down to only needing a bitrate of 4500 or 4.5megabits.
If you still want 1080, you can even just lower your framerate from 60fps to 30fps and then adjust to 4500bitrate.
For more information visit this Bitrate graph: stream.twitch.tv/
The style of this video is similar to Alpha Gaming and Gaming Careers in parts. A large influence on this series has come from content creators like Wild4games and Nutty.

My running shorts are buried in a drawer somewhere... I should really sort that out 😂. Nice to have a reminder about the things you mentioned here as well, speaking of Mr Beast I think he once said something along the lines of "your first 100 videos will suck, talk to me at the 101st". If I'm in a position to give anyone a tip it would be that even one step in the right direction is progress, so as long as you're improving one thing about your content every video/every week, you're heading in the right direction :)

I've literally put so much thought into my streams to make them meaningful (I use my channel for charity and GFMs for those in need). My issue is that I use Twitch for DJing which is already HEAVILY oversaturated. The most watchers I've ever had on a stream is 8, but I refuse to let that get me down. I feel like I'm very good at what I do so I'm just going to continue to stream to the same 1 or 2 faithful watchers and just hope for the best. Great vid as always Eljay!

Hi, Bro! I wanna share quickly my experience cause it may be useful for someone or maybe another video thou. ^^ I work a hell lot and make niched gaming videos as a hobby. Which goes nicely! 1-2 videos a week when I have more free time, 1 or 0 depending on the same rs BUT, when I started streaming (I did on KZread) to have more contact with my community it was not as easy as I thought. Making videos take muuuuuuuch more time! However, I can split It on some days and that helps! But streaming has 1 big problem that made me quit in 1 week: It hurts the brain! It consumes too much attention to the chat! I record and edit videos to release stress, but streaming doesnt work the same way, it's the opposite! It feels like tough thinking! So it's Crazy hard to do It at night, after a long day 😅😢 My viewers were awesome, nice and extremely recepting. It was really fun! But due to It being so tiring for the mind/brain, I can't keep It. Making videos do better for me so far 😂💜 Hope It can reach someone and shed some light. Have fun, guys! 👊🏾

  • @StreamScheme

I couldn’t imagine streaming daily, I feel like it goes against the first tip of using small controllable goals to grow. Most growth comes from TikTok, shorts, and videos so I would rather devote my daily time to those so my streams grow faster and become a reward or way to interact with viewers rather than a habit

  • @coinecc

@@StreamScheme I'm probably staying away from shorts, which seems to go against YT convention but I don't mind slower growth with a smaller community to start out. To me, every stream feels rewarding and feedback is always good, so the formula will probably work itself out in time. I suppose one reason to go with shorts might be to get the subscriber count to partner with YT, since I have well over the required watch hours.

  • @StreamScheme

    @StreamScheme

    6 ай бұрын

Shorts just bring in viewers while you’re asleep and river, that’s all, it’s not some quick growth hack, it’s the same as long form videos. Streams lack discovery without videos and shorts, but if you have external content your streams and following grow while offline.
