Mark Knopfler looks at Chet Atkins like a kid would look at Santa. The admiration and appreciation is obvious. Even though Knopfler has carved out his own niche in the music world, it's still humbling and nice to see such respect for one of his icons and guitar heroes. A beautiful song made even more so by the vocal brilliance of the Everly brothers, Mark wrote it but the EBs took it a level higher.

Mark has zero ego. You would never guess he wrote this masterpiece and his original version is over 8 minutes long. He just enjoys the company of fellow musicians and appreciates each one's talent: you can see it in his face. The Everly Brothers influenced his own music and he and Chet were close friends. Wonderful video.

We don't have to oversell Knopfler. He is a fabulous artist and does subordinate his play in service to the song, but he is a human being, just like the rest of us. Also, you need to have some ego to be healthy; you just want balance. From what I see, he has a love of music that has no bounds and has dedicated his life to it. He is amazing to watch as he practices his craft and reveals it to an audience...

The Brothers were at loggerheads with each other but kept it professional at performances. Mark and Chet gave each other a knowing look. The magic was working. Don and Phil turned to each other, and in that look said, "I love you brother". Mark and Chet, in that moment smiled at each other knowingly, for a moment, the rift was gone. Pure alchemy, pure gold.

Ahhhhhh it definitely is a masterpiece, no doubt. But it does get better, of course there is the greatest, Stairway, but go listen to Ten Years Gone, or listen to the greatest female voice ever, Judith Durham. Now that I've taken the Micky, in all honesty, to say it doesn't get better, or to use the term greatest is pure bullshit, music isn't a competition, it isn't a ranking, it's very personal and subjective. Let's leave it at the opening, this is a masterpiece.

In 1958 when the Everly's released All I Have to do is Dream, I thought it was one of the most beautiful songs I'd ever heard••••• and I was only 10 years old. I didn't even know what you called it then but I somehow recognized at the age of 10-- as a non-musician-- that their voices melded together like no others. I can't believe at the time of this recording that you're listening to, that those two Brothers still had the ability to harmonize in such a beautiful weaving together of their voices. They still had it! Despite all the years of discord between the two of them. As an old man of 75, it almost seems like they are a Channel for Beauty coming from somewhere on high.

Miss you guys no one can beat you - the saddest thing in life is us having to leave, so very sad.

The camera caught Michael McDonald, but for a second, I recognized Jeff Lynn, maybe he came with mark… Everly’s were so bound at th hip in movement and phrasing- one would never be able to separate and that’s the joy of this seedless collaboration- And the sweet musical sentences in lullaby fashion, then the genius break on the second beat, to come back on the up beat of 3 in the next measure…Adkins was in heaven with this interesting pause, it keeps you listening. I’m sad to say I don’t remember this song, but I think I will ask to be heard at my funeral -it comforts

Gotta agree with you on this. Mark Knopfler's main talent is obviously not his singing, so to have the best harmonising brothers in the world do your song, well, that's an honour. It knocks spots off the original Dire Straits version (I think even he'd admit that)

It's these moments that show there is a loving hand that sews the threads of this tapestry we call life into moments of pure beauty and brilliance in combinations no person could have thought of doing. How else can it be explained because this is not random chance. This was deliberate. This was grace....this was love. A very sweet amen...so be it. Hahaha!
