Good. Doing research and sticking up for self is how you get the benefits companies don't want any employees to know about. It's why companies want you to think that it's wrong to discuss your pay with your co-workers, when in fact it is a protected legal right. You may disclose(or keep secret) your pay at will with anyone you wish. It's how employees know if they're being paid fairly... Companies also do similar things with customers too. For example, some internet companies' "contracts"/fees are negotiable - but they won't ever tell you that directly.

I was happy to be able to provide for my wife. Not sure about this whole context but his points are correct. The more dangerous the job, the higher the wage. The premise of equal pay is a woman & man are doing the same job with all things being the same (equal), then there should be no difference in pay. Ex: truckers...gender doesn't matter, mileage does. You are paid by the mile regardless of if you are male or female. It should be the norm for all jobs wherein duties are the same (teacher, police, nurse, etc). But often, it isn't. Male teachers, police & nurses make more simply because they're male (& as more than one supervisor stated, he has a family to support. What!? Like single mothers don't?!). And it is like that for scientists, ceo's, & many many other jobs. Again, all things being equal & only difference is gender, then pay should be the same. And it isn't 😒.

  • @andreh.dupuis8475

    @andreh.dupuis8475

interesting point, police officers are majority male, nurses are majority female, they have very different payscales and retirement requirements but have similar education requirements and stress. Part of it is linked to union negotiations and importance given to law & order compared to healthcare. Now why are male nurses earning more on average than female nurses? This would merit an in depth analysis, but factors are: number of hours (overtime) worked, interest for head nurse positions, lower chances of taking parental leave, personality traits. According to JP males are not naturally interested in people compared to women, so the male nurse is somewhat of an outlying point that merits further study.

True feminists are not against man but willing to build equality wherever there's a lack of it, despite the gender. Man do work longer hours, however we are missing here also that most of a woman are taking on more then full time jobs when they are mothers. Meaning at the end woman take on "invisible" job on the top of their regular full time job. The job is also with no salary. The solution lays in looking from both perspectives and building mutual understanding.

Incidentally, for the better part of our lives, I made a good deal more money than my husband did. The longest final in Wimbledon was 4.95hrs for men, and 2.75hrs for women. It’s not hard to see, that this is NOT ‘equal work’ so, why should there be equal pay? Or should this be yet another ‘exception’, that women are built differently from men and so should be treated differently? If you’re a woman, ask yourself, if you pay full price for a cup of coffee, and the man next to you pay the same and gets 2 cups, just by being a man, would you still think it’s alright?🤔

How would you feel if you were paid less, eventhough you worked just as hard, if not harder than others, just because of the way you were born? That can be true in some cases, that's something to be grateful for. now if we try to understand what's going on, women are more likely to take care of their family because nature made them that way, more agreeable, more concerned about the wellbeing of others, more effective on multitasking jobs. also some other things to take account, until 60' there was no effective way to control family planning, women sexually active had to sacrifice a lot to rise their child's whenever the nature calls for it. Fortunately things changed, and instead of enjoying this time in human history with the most opportunities ever, feminism is lost in this nonsense struggle. To much potential and creativity being unnecessary lost

I know in factory's there are no difference in pay between men and women but there is a difference sometimes in pay of certian jobs that require special training , I don't think Walmart or fast food or painters or computers, or nurses , or teachers , so is the difference in pay in politics ,lawyers , judges, or government? Just really curious to know ! Or should I ask Google ? But I find asking a computer that is loaded with info that a human put in might and many times not correct ,just someone's mind set of how they think , or numbers from someone's study and we all know how wrong mist if those study's are .

There are all sorts of reasons why an individual can be paid more than their coworkers. It is the same job, but let's say you frequently do overtime and your peers never do overtime. If you do that, you can get paid more per hour. Same job, different effort put in. Or let's say you've been in the company for almost 10 years and your coworker has been there for 1 year. You're more experienced and skilled, you've been loyal to the company, and you've done extra for the company. You are going to get paid more per hour. Same job, different competence. It doesn't matter if you're a man or a woman. You can literally be the person who gets paid more, even as the woman, than all the men at the company. Because it comes down to the individual. Earn your reputation, earn your salary. The statistic modern feminists use is for manipulation. There's no practical utility in that at all. It's a long whine.

It’s a political perspective based on men and women are different; hence they have to be treated differently because data says they are unequal. But all that is irrelevant to the point of equality. Equality is about equal opportunity not about making men exactly the same as women. They are equal in terms of what they deserve from society or what their rights are or protections are. So if a woman wants to be a bricklayer she shd be able to and not stopped just because she is a woman; if she doesn’t want to that doesn’t mean equality is failing or not realistic or whatever. As long as there are opportunities or even encouragements(because they have been discouraged for long and with stats like this) for women to lay bricks equality is working. So yes it comes from the political perspective not scientific data, data is being used/misused to hide a political opinion that men are different from women hence deserve to be given different opportunities or forced into gender roles. Well if you claim extremely violent people are male then you can’t use that to say men are violent women aren’t. Because there are violent women and non violent men. That’s the whole point of equal opportunity. That you can’t separate people into 2 distinct groups because the genders aren’t mutually exclusive so treat them equally Eg same rules on violence. When you say equal you mean identical or clone. Yet the meaning of equality is equal opportunity for all people because there are all full citizens with brains and desires and hopes. They shdnt be stopped just because of gender. So basically you are forcing a definition of equality that you created not the actual meaning of equality. If there is overlap it means they shd be treated equal because you may assume a woman is not aggressive when they are or assume a man is aggressive when he isn’t. So just treat them all as if they are aggressive or not aggressive. Same way not all men are equal as in identical clones but they still enjoy equality in terms of treatment such as demanded in the Declaration of Independence. It’s a political statement because it’s like saying , using the US as an example, all men are equal and have right to pursue life, liberty, and happiness. But at the same time hold slaves as unequal or 1/3 of a person. It shows the idea of equality is political as in who deserves what is often based on the opinion of the person as to what someone deserve and misusing data to project that opinion. You believe women are different hence can’t be equal. But black men and white men are different , or even white men aren’t all identical either some are more violent than other using the aggression example or short versus tall white guys. You can even draw statistics about what those people can extremely do over other Eg tall white guys score better at basketball than short white guys. That’s no excuse to say no short white guys. they shd all have equal opportunity to try out not restrictions and let them decide to play or not to play, to prove or not to prove. That’s the real meaning of equality not this identical ish.

So I don't understand why the always saying they not equal , men don't get tax breaks , men don't get to claim child support or alimony , men don't get free house ,food, electric ,medical unless they disabled! When a person is working harder and secrefice more then its ok to pay more, why is it has to be men vs women? If they do the same job they need to be paid equal. Its not about feminism its about respecting the differences and giving equal chances to people. If a man is working at the office all day and the women working at home all day, they are different yet equal. If a women secrefice more then her husband she deserves more, and vice versa. Each needs to be measured by its genders standarts. Whats so hard to grasp? I guess some modern coltures need to figure out what it means to be a man/women. Jentelmenism is being respectfull it isnt in any way suggest that the women is lower in the value from men.

Well, you forgot where the salaries come from. Yes, from the employer. And the employer sees money first. And usually, men do more work in 8 hours than women, just because of their physique, stamina, constitution etc. I'm not saying there aren't jobs that women are more efficient at, I'm just saying in most jobs, men can bring in more money for the company. So basically, if there are two companies, one with only men and second with only women and they pay the same salaries, the one with men makes more money. So it only makes sense that men make more money, as they bring in more value (not meaning this hatefully toward women).

Job choice is one of the largest factors as to why the average man gets paid more than the average woman. Many people mistakingly claim that women get paid 70 cents to the dollar for the same job, when in fact, this stat does not consider any factors such as job, experience, hours, or weekends or even other factors that shouldn't count but likely still do in many places(But not all, fortunately) such as ethnicity, race, and nation of origin(for example immigrants from countries like the UK make upwards of 5x as much as immigrants from countries like Iran). There are some factors for which women actually get paid MORE than men. Many of the factors are regional too. Such as the difference in pay between someone working weekends and someone working regular week days is likely to vary by company, town, county, city, state, and region. It doesn't consider cost of living. It doesn't consider age. It doesn't consider anything. It is a blind average that only considers sex and nothing else. It does not consider that many women still opt to become stay-home mothers. It does not consider maternity and paternity leave. Fun fact: college educated women make more than their male counterparts before they reach their 30's. After they reach their 30's the men tend to make more. This is because college-educates people tend to have children in their 30's and many women work less or stop working entirely to help care for their young children. The gender pay gap isn't due to businesses not paying women properly any more. It's due to society's beliefs as to what work is "manly" or "womanly" or what the proper roles of husbands/fathers and wives/mothers are, and how these beliefs affect an individual's own career choices and decision-making. If you want to talk a boutique a pay gap, talk about the race or nationality gaps. Those are far bigger and more concerning - far more likely to actually hold some water.

So then i could imagine you can see why a woman would want to work. There goes your hot meal, there goes your bargain shopper. She didnt have time to scrub the floor, She didnt have time to do Sally's hair or help Jr. With his project. What do you do?? Instead of everyone seething on both ends. Let's find a solution. I cant see it ever going back to the way it was in the 1950s but some of us don't mind the traditional roles. Someones gotta raise the children. I've often wondered whose watching all these peoples kids?? I have to bring my kids to the gyno with me. Never quite understood the dynamics that allow for 2 working parents in the home. What about those countries that give living allowances despite income? Then the wife wouldnt have to be treated like an infant and she buy a pack of gum if she wanted to? More and more women are choosing not to marry and/or be mothers. In droves (I forsee a future major problem with birth rates...hello handmaids lol )Maybe it should have been more appealing? A person doesnt generally keep doing something without benefit. More men have these traditional "men" jobs and get paid more....now. Give it time. But men don't want to see the bigger picture. I don't think most are capable. Women are by nature, nurturers. Women only left traditional roles because of abusive spouses, as you stated, but men don't want to take responsibility. Same story since Adam...abdicate responsibility, blame the woman & God. No wonder women don't want to marry. Men, on the whole, generally don't appreciate what women do...at home or the workplace. Actually, if I wasn't Christian, I'd be cool with society hurtling towards the Amazonian (mythical society) type culture (which really we aren't far from) where men are only kept for breeding purposes & some heavy manual labor stuff. But with robotics, heavy equipment & artificial insemination, won't need many much longer. 😆 Wonder if men have thought about this? Is this why they're so scared of & oppress women so badly? 🤔 Wouldn't society be better if men would just treat women as Jesus did? With respect, love, etc. Like the Bible states? To love & cherish their wives. But they didn't. So women had to leave traditional roles & enter the workforce. All that said. Who's to blame, men or women? "We wrestle not against flesh & blood but against EVIL spirits". Sin is to blame. Jesus is the answer. Let's keep trying, in love, to find solutions where everyone wins. Keep moving forward.

The thing is though, more and more women are going into STEM careers. More and more women are going into occupations that are generally seen as masculine, such as doctors, pilots, and car mechanics than ever before in history. The social and cultural paradigm is shifting, and as a result, the gender pay gap is shrinking. It's slow moving though, due to culture being a slow beast to change. What also contributes to the gender pay gap shrinking is the man's role in child-care becoming more prevalent. More and more fathers are taking the time to be present in their child's lives than ever before, taking the load off mothers and allowing them to work more hours. Working more hours allows women to get better at the job, take on more long-term projects, and get promoted quicker, which means they get paid more. The world is healing from patriarchal practices of the past (which in my opinion don't exist anymore, which is why we're seeing these changes in the first place), and more and more jobs are becoming less polarized than ever before. It is slow change, but change, nonetheless. What I keep seeing from arguments about the gender pay gap is that they seem to want to make it about something inherent in women that causes the gap. Women inherently stray away from careers in STEM (which is becoming less and less true as the years go by), women inherently work less hours, or are lazier and don't work as hard as men. I will admit, women may very well be more inclined toward humanism careers (I do believe there will still be a bit of polarization in regard to this, but it will be much much less in the future), but the other two reasonings are blatantly untrue. The immediacy that people have grown so accustomed to is telling here, in that because we do not see immediate significant change right now, that it somehow isn't happening at all. It is, we just need to be patient. The gender pay gap will shrink to near nothing in the future. We just need to bide our time for it to happen.

Just let people be for God's sake. There are so many problems to talk about. I believe women being human beings and living their lives isn't one of them.

He is talking about the differences between men and women at a macrolevel but at the microlevel women in the same field with the same level of education and similar experience will still get paid about 10% less than men. Also women are less likely to even get into the male dominated fields because the men that present and doing the job interviews will pick men over women in most cases. Those men might even really believe they are feminists or believe that women should have equal rigts and pay and yet they will still choose a man over a woman because they will feel the man will be a better fit in their group/department/team/culture.

Even at the microlevel you still aren't going deep enough, hours worked compared to their male counterparts, the percentage of women that are going for raises compared to their male counterparts, amount of time taken off, as well as just the amount of work they are doing in the same amount of time. Those account for a large majority of the pay gap even in the same field. There's still an unexplained pay gap that's around 2-3% which may or may not be caused by sexism, we don't have all of the data for that. I don't doubt there are companies being sexist towards women but those would be the exception and not the rule

If that were the case. That women get paid less for THE EXACT SAME JOB as a men why would any employer hire men? Why? You can just hire women and pay less? Why would you hire a man who is more expensive?

I can not speak for the US but here in Africa men are traditionally paid more in the same job as their female counterparts. It is gender based here.
