Not having a Trader Joe’s is not petty. It’s my go to store, along with Aldi. We did some research and noticed that there are no Aldi’s in Idaho at all, and driving to Boise and surrounds to go grocery shopping would be a once a month or so event. We are still considering the Idaho Falls area. It’s a lot easier for us since we are retiring soon. However, we now have a glitch in that our son will be back in San Diego after this deployment ends in September and our other son is getting married in September. Lots of decisions!!

If you don't mind me asking about Idaho Falls. We are from California and we want to be around Faith, Family and Freedom. We are hoping to move to Idaho Falls 2024. My husband is Native American, and white. I keep hearing that it people are racist there. We were there last year and never felt any of what people are telling us. Congratulations on your move. Love your videos.

wow you moved to tennessee, very nice state though I prefer the east side with the mountains . Nashville is a nice place though. The prices in Idaho are still too high imo , there is definitely a migration from western states to the midwest and southeast. I have a friend who left crazy washington state to live in florida, mainly because they want to be left alone to live how they want

Tennessee is considerably cheaper than Idaho. I was a member of a "california to Idaho" facebook group, one of the admins posted a real estate listing for a 5 acre hobby farm with a 4 bedroom house for 1.5 million. I then posted s listing in Ellington, Mo for a 6 bedroom home on FIFTY acres for 700,000$. He blocked me after that. However... don't mistake no state income tax for a state being "cheaper" to live. the money to run the state has to come from somewhere... and in Tennessee, it comes from 7% sales tax. Missouri has state income tax, but our base sales tax is only 4.2% Texas gets it from property tax, which is easily QUADRUPLE what Missouri's is. Idaho has a state income tax that is higher than Missouri's... PLUS a 6% sales tax. So Idaho double dips.

I think it just depends where you are! The population in Tennessee is of course a lot higher than Idaho so it’s all relative. There’s less desirable areas and areas that are totally fine like anywhere :)

Idaho is really not that free. First of all, you need a hunting permit to hunt on your own property! Don't have that here in Missouri. Also, over half of Missouri's counties are unzoned, which means no building permits or inspections required when you build your house Many counties in Tennessee are this way, also. Fishing is not so great in Idaho, because much of the fish has been contaminated by the silver mining, they also do not allow any aerial fireworks in Idaho, even in areas where there are no large forests. Missouri, fireworks are legal to buy any day of the year, and you can set them off any day of the year.
