Why We Bought An INEOS Grenadier

Our Buy Me A Coffee Link - www.buymeacoffee.com/manhawkentE
I violated nearly every rule I have for buying a new vehicle when we decided to buy an INEOS Grenadier. Despite the compelling design there is no denying that this is a potentially risky purchase, a new car company with no reliability history and limited dealerships for servicing. Ya this one is a roll of the dice.

Hi from the UK, I’ve had mine since June 2023. You’re gonna love , they’ve already done afew recalls and updates to mine. I expected & accepted that being an early adopter . Every issue you read about seems to get looked into straight away by the Magna engineers and upgrades / solutions introduced . You enjoy it, I have no doubt it’ll be around in good shape in 10 years time . I feel the build quality is better than the 2018 (W463) merc G Wagon I swapped it out for .

Hi folks. I too am a UK first adopter, June 2023. They swapped the transfer case early on. But my experience from day one has been amazing. The vehicle is superb and I just love it. It can tackle anything, goes most places others only dream of. Turns a few heads too. You won't regret it. Enjoy!

I have one. I love it. I don't drive it enough because I also own a new Defender which I also love. If I had to get rid of one, it would probably be the Grenadier because I need to do some long road trips and the Defender is a bit more comfortable (but not by much) and more economical. But I don't have to get rid and I suspect I will have the Grenadier a lot of years to come. Both are great cars.

Yes I have read about the issue and it sure sounds like it is hurting the RHD market. I sure hope they can reroute the exhaust and get that sorted as they have surely heard enough of it by now! The doors don't really cause me any concern at this point and I have no issue with the rear visibility also driving a Jeep Wrangle with larger spare hanging off the back, I guess it all depends on what you are coming out of. I have owned one since October 2023 and no issue at all with the footwell on my right hand drive vehicle. Also the narrow door is fantastic when you reverse into a parking spot against a wall. Stand behind the spare wheel, open the small door, move to your left and then open the large door until the spare hits the wall. Fantastic access to the rear. I keep seeing idiots just open the small door and wonder if their head hurts. Most complaints come from people who have only read about it and watched KZread videos. Same as the steering.

The BMW motors apparently no one else has had gripes about which is weird considering what you have mentioned and the years of recorded history, especially on YT, of crap Beemer motors. In Germany it somehow isnt a problem and even more curious is the diesel motor also made by them. Unfortunately, as per usual, North American market doesnt get it. Thanks dieselgate scandal. Personally I think youre going to have your INEO for a long time or at least could have it for the long run. Its just the motor in which case maybe in a decade, provided you make it that long you can do a more suitable engine swap? Regardless, I hope it lasts that long for you. @@dickinaroundoutdoors8609 I've long said that North America has a different rating system to the rest of the world. GVWR and GVW are not the same thing. I knew it would end up not having more payload then a Wrangler, Gladiator, or a Bronco. Basically a ¼ Ton payload. That being said I believe it is basically a modified G-wagon chassis. Like the Chrysler 300 was a modified E-class.

I am not sure the definitions but I can compare the sticker on my 2015 JKU Rubicon Hardrock which had a max passenger and cargo rating of 850 Lbs (before installing my winch and AEV rear tire holder./35 inch tire). I understand the JLUs perhaps have higher payloads but not sure they make an equivalent to the Hardrock so cannot say for sure, perhaps the Rubicon X? You bring up a very valid point and there is no denying the Land Cruiser has a well deserved reputation! I could have mentioned in the video that another rule I have is that I buy vehicles new and drive them until they are rusted out heaps. I know this is not the strategy finance folks love to express but I want to know they were broken in correctly, maintained etc. Price was not really a factor but a low mileage used 200 is not far from the price of the Grenadier! Had the 200 (or maybe 300 at this point) been available in the US without being a fully loaded lux-version I would certainly have considered one but sadly Toyota has chosen otherwise. I appreciate you checking out the channel and for the great question.

The payload ratings must be different for the US ,a petrol trailmaster is ratd at 907kg without driver and he diesel at 833kg the trade off for payload for the diesel is well worth it with 100nm more of toque at 550 nm .
