    I agree with your analysis. I’ve had my Trialmaster for 3 weeks and have experienced the same software glitches - it’s not a big deal but should be fixed at the first service. The vehicle is way better than I expected, you are very fair and accurate with your feedback- thank you. Best points , the seats are brilliant, ride comfort and lack of road noise, overall build quality and engineering. Keep posting - great to hear from a real user! Thanks, Doug

    Thank you for another very helpful video. Your 10k report is thoughtful, organized and well presented! Last year, we reserved a Grenadier and Ford Bronco Badlands, unsure which we'd finally buy for our Colorado mountain location. Last week, we committed for the Bronco. They are both new vehicles that come with some new equipment bugs. While we really like the Grenadier, it remains 7 months away and comes at a ~ 25% $ premium. The Bronco is presently on rail transit to Colorado - just in time this year's offroading season. Also 45 years ago (before our kids arrived) we had great fun in an earlier Bronco version, so obviously some nostalgia for us too. Thanks again for sharing your Grenadier experiences on KZread. Best wishes to you & your's! Cheers kc

    At higher speeds the aerodynamic drag increases as the "square" of the speed and not linearly like at low speeds. The Grenadier has the aerodynamics of a house brick (not sure of its Cd number), so generally a slower speed will benefit fuel consumption greatly.

Two usability questions (1) are there enough existing storage locations for basic recovery gear (not sure if the spare wheel ‘cabinet’ can fit the straps and shackles and (2) do you know if there is provision for cb/ham radio mounting (and antenna)? Thanks again for making the video.

    I have watched and read every review on these. I am a wrangler guy. I have owned 7 over the years ranging from Jeep CJ’s, YJ’s, TJ’s, & JK’s. Fiat has got there hands all over the wrangler and unfortunately I will never buy another one. They are cheaply built and absolute garbage now a days. I am sure I will tick off a few people on that comment. I am not a huge fan of BMW but I have heard great things about the diesel engine. The Ineos in my opinion looks like a quality built ride. They are only going to get better when they iron out first gen issues. In regards to fuel consumption I really don’t feel like those number are that bad. My 2015 wrangler’s fuel tank capacity is 85L’s. I run 35x12.5x17 tires with 4.10 gears and my fuel economy is out the window but that’s what I was expecting with my build. If I couldn’t afford the petrol I wouldn’t have built it. If someone can afford a 70k-100k 4x4 then you can afford the petrol. If one can’t then don’t buy it. They will be selling them in Canada next year & I can’t wait to buy one.

My right leg is resting against the door trim and a.lot lower down. I thought about it on the drive because it seems like the most major issue discussed online. I find this comfortable due to a badly aching left hip and knee, which started my quest to look for an auto 4 by 4. I have found I need to remember not to move left foot and push clutch in whilst driving this one and my wife's hyundai as the sudden stop when you "clutch" the wide brake pedal in a brain fart is startling. I do spend all the rest of my driving in manual vehicles.🤔

    Yes, I think this Grenadier is mainly for old Defender aficionados. As a Toyota Land Cruiser owner, with its proven pedigree & track record for capability & durability, I’m left wondering how good of a late model, low mileage, high spec Land Cruiser I could buy for the price of a new Grenadier. And given the way Land Cruisers hold their value, I can’t help thinking a 2 year old LC & a new Grenadier would probably reach parity in resale value after 3 years or so. But I guess there is a section of the market for the angular, rugged, functional old Defender look, which Ineos were smart to grab when Land Rover abandoned it.

    Hi Guys, I must agree that the fuel consumption is a joke for a 2023 vehicle. I was considering a Grenadier as a replacement for my 1991 GE 300 with a straight six petrol engine. But, I have no electronic issues whatsoever, the car is narrower, thus better suited for today's traffic, and I consume between 12-14 l/100km max not exceeding 130 on motorways and little city traffic (there are better suited vehicles for city traffic in Italy...). Hence, why swap? My G has 200.000 on the clock and purrs like a bee, weighs less and is cheaper to run... No Ineos for me, thank you very much... Thanks for the 10k test drive results :)

    Picking up on two of the metrics from the comments… The Grenadier turning CIRCLE is 13.5m. The Land Rover Defender was 12.8m. The Grenadier fuel tank capacity is 90L, same as the Defender. The Land Cruiser 300 has a turning circle of 11.8m and a fuel tank capacity (Aus spec) of 110L, with several easy aftermarket tank conversion options available to take this to ~170L. The Land Cruiser is also serviceable ANYWHERE in the entire world, which is absolutely NOT the case with either the Grenadier or the Defender. I would love the Grenadier to succeed, but it won’t. Ineos simply won’t be able to create the support network for these vehicles that can look after them in the parts of the world where their vehicles’ engineering is most applicable. Toyota own that niche, period.

  • @Far2hip

    @Far2hip

    So what you’re saying is that regardless if the quality of the vehicle eventually provides that it dominates the market in out of the box build quality and reliability with minimal quirks that are an easy production adjustment while providing a reasonably high level of comfort while driving both on and off road that there are not enough people in world markets to support this development strategy? Or is the point of your prediction that you believe it’s reliability will not be as robust as planned for the environments it was developed to tackle appropriately and this will leave folks not able to expediently repair the vehicles in the field? That is not any sort of smart ass remark, it’s more of an understanding of why you believe the whole “build it NOT to break” intention will not provide enough resale of new vehicles in a marketplace loaded with planned obsolescence. Know what I mean?? Ineos knew the service network build up would take time. So the intention was to dramatically over build these vehicles to withstand some serious environments and if you get stuck, use the overbuilt winch to keep going. It definitely will be interesting to see what comes, but I tend to be on the other side of the opinion and believe that the attraction of how incredibly robust this vehicle seems to be will attract well enough private and industry market sales based on what is planned in this and other model options to support a successful run. 👍🏻😎👍🏻

    @@Far2hip In many ways I wish I could buy into what you’re saying because as I said earlier I would like this vehicle to succeed. I’m in the remote area industrial & overland travel business (Africa, Aus, Asia) and for 40+ years I’ve lived and breathed robust 4WDs as a daily survival necessity, starting with Land Cruiser 70 and 80 series. Have driven them all in very harsh conditions with Toyota & Nissan dominating by a factor of probably 50:1. The occasional Land Rover encounter has been a consistently appalling experience since I started out in the 80s. Have had some horror story rescues of the occupants of those shitboxes in life-threatening situations. The simple fact is that the Grenadier - for all its (potential) engineering excellence - is the 100% unproven and 100% a turn off to anyone experienced in getting from A to B when A and B are on opposite ends of a continent, or where a small fleet needs to be maintained in a remote off-grid location. The 70 series LC is in a class of its own when it comes to that kind of situation. You could walk into a shack in N Ethiopia and be 100% confident the wheel bearing you need will be in stock…. Simply put there is no vehicle on the planet that will not break in exceptional circumstances, and when something does go wrong you need firstly the engineering to make the repair as simple as possible, and second you need to be able to source the parts. I don’t see that being a reality for the Grenadier in Birdsville or Adigrat or Barrancas any time soon.

Not that they give a shit about climate change…. that daily survival imperative will forever get in the way of worrying about the future. Worrying about climate change is a first world middle-class psychological illness brought on by believing politicians and celebrities. It is VERY interesting what you say about travelling to Finland. In 1997 me and my then girlfriend now wife drove from Sussex to Kirkenes in far northern Norway, via Holland, Denmark and Sweden. From there we continued down through Finland and back to the UK via the Baltic states, Poland, Germany and back into Holland. It was quite adventurous at the time but in reality, not particularly arduous. We did that trip in a 1993 Subaru Impreza 1.8L station wagon that had some modest suspension upgrades, a roofrack and a decent set of all-terrain tyres. If you are considering it necessary to buy an Ineos Grenadier to do that trip then may I politely suggest you are over thinking the problem!

    @@grenadier_exploring Has anyone in the Grenadier community tried adjusting wheel alignment? Is it even possible? First of all it might be a good idea to check the alignment from the factory? Maybe the aerodynamics and drivetrain might even change the car's attitude on the highway and thus affect alignment? Typically vehicles have their wheel angles change as they move along their suspension travel, though I'm not sure about the Grenadier's suspension and steering setup. Any slight bit of toe-out will make the vehicle far more unstable and track less straight. Such a car will surely have a default setting of the tires being as straight as possible, so any toe-out should be avoided. But then it's a personal preference if you want to dial in a slight bit of toe-in like sports car have: toe-in will make the car track more straight even with an uneven surface and will be more stable. All the other angles would be good to check too. Positive caster, if it's adjustable, will increase stability. Note that I'm not 100% sure if this applies with beam axle cars like the Grenadier...I'm not even sure if you can adjust the alignment in any way? This may be a completely irrelevant point with beam axles, I'm only familiar with independent suspension myself.

    Rubbish - the TLC200 will never return that mileage at 130kph. Did you ignore the bit where he posted 10.7l/100 for this vehicle, 600kg heavier than your poxlux? Fuel consumption is fine for this 2700kg brick.

    @@einfelder8262 I was referring to speeds around 100 kph. My TLC200 is 2,940 kg unladen and with an empty long-range fuel tank, at 130kph, it indeed consumes around 14.5 l/100. When towing a trailer with a race car, around 2 tonnes combined, I am getting around 17 l/100. Considering Ineos as a replacement, as my only issue with an old TLC200 is fuel consumption. Ineos does not seem to be a solution. Hilux is breathless with that 3.0 diesel engine, so sticking to TLC200 :-) then.

    @@dmitrijusapockinas16 You conveniently left out information that hurts your argument - childish. You should learn to compare apples with apples. Hilux is a really stupid diversionary inclusion, you could equally have said an Echo does 6l/100, that would have been just as irrelevant. My gripe with the Ineos is the small fuel tank that reportedly leaves no room for an aftermarket long range tank. Otherwise, for it's intended off-road market, it's better than LC200 which is no longer available anyhow.

    @@einfelder8262 I am not sure which information I left out :-). I would happily compare apples to apples if car manufacturers made enough apples :-). Unfortunately, there are few choices, and Hilux (at least for me personally, for my use cases) is a legitimate option bar engine's performance. Not expecting the same comfort as TLC200, obviously. I used to own a couple of Hiluxes back in the day with very sluggish engines, so I know exactly what they are like. I am trying to like Ineos keeping in mind the price tag, but I can't. They made it 500kg heavier than I was expecting, ancient steering scheme, wheel travel almost non-existent, and you mentioned it has no place for the long-range fuel tank, too bad, and they missed to deliver a price tag of around 50k euros which was promoted. Excellent engines and gearbox package does not outweigh the other issues. We'll get my hands on one to test drive it for the day to assess how bad is the steering, weight and fuel consumption until then all of these are theories :-) obviously.

The B58 might be "good" for a BMW engine but these engines are still quiet new and not many have done high KM's yet.
