    I wish my wife would use my tractor. She's afraid of it for some reason. I had to get her one of those little pull behind dump carts, which while watching her pull it around the yard is adorable, it drives me nuts because the loader makes life so much easier lol.

    I really like your set-up, especially the DIY Cab, which seems very comfortable. When I bought my used BX-25D, it came with the 50 inch front mounted snowblower, and was equipped with the Curtis semi soft Cab. On windy days, the cab is particularly appreciated. The cab is heated, but I have to seal the many holes around the various levers and especially under the seat, as well as the rear panel made of transparent canvas on velcro, in order to allow the backhoe to be operated in summer. This summer, I intend to modify the back of the cab to make it more airtight in winter. I was planning to use plexiglass to replace the flexible transparent film, mounted on an easily removable frame. I am open to any suggestion of good ideas.

  • @Trialnerror

    Thank you! I'll never go back to any other tread pattern. These work so well across grass, mud and snow it's nuts. They also seem to be wearing much slower than the turf tires I had before but they grip so well I know that can't be right. It may just be that the lugs are so deep on these they can wear off 1/4" and you don't even notice it.

    I love these bx models they seem so capable! With that being said Ill be in the market for a tractor pretty soon. Was wondering as a homeowner do you think this size tractor is enough (power wise and size wise) for just doing maintenance around the house or would you rather go up a size if you could? Looking between the bx models and possibly a 1025r used since the brand new models are a little out of my price range 😂. Not too sure yet.

    It's tough. Everyone says to buy the biggest tractor you can afford, and in many way's that's true. BUT, I also love being able to get my little machine into just about anywhere. A bigger machine can be a real pain to maneuver and always causes more turf damage due to weight. All I can say is in the past 7 years I've only wished it was bigger a dozen or so times. I've been glad it wasn't bigger countless times, so for me I'm happy with it.

  • @Trialnerror

    @Trialnerror

    Funny (not funny) story. My neighbor gave me one of those salt dog spreaders that are made to do this so I cut apart and removed my DIY one to install that one. Guess what? It sucked. Complete piece of garbage. I just took it off this year because it would constantly jam up. Who knew my half ass grass seed spreader would work better than a $850 salt spreader.

    @@Trialnerror instead of salt you should try a trailer with a tank /spray rig and try pre treating before storms with mag chloride or a brine solution. There is a product called PlaySAFE Ice Blocker for residential applications. Better for your yard, environment, water table and more effective than salt as it acts like a non stick coating that prevents ice from forming in the first place. You can put it on wood, brick, concrete, even decks, and safe for pets. it helps to prevent freeze/thaw damage as well. 1 gallon protects 2000 sq. ft. And no, I dont work for them. Used to be a snowplow driver for the Colorado DOT in Vail, when they started to pretreat the roads.
