Censorship was the main reason why I refused to even install it, I like using Facebook but the censoring is horrible, is not "You ain't allowed to be racist" level, it goes above and beyond, I got banned once from Facebook by pointing out at someone's nationality because fb deemed it as harassment. Even if threads gets all of Twitter features and more, there will be no reason to use it due to the censorship.

Absolutely ridiculous that you lose your Instagram account if you delete Threads. That’s an absolutely BS move.

The funny thing about Google+ is that I actually liked the platform, if I remember correctly it used to work the same way Reddit subs and Facebook groups do, with the side effect of being forced to use it to read yt notifications.

My assumption is that many users of the Thread app created their accounts only because of the hype and the fear of missing out. They didn't really enjoyed the app. They just wanted to try it out because it's a new thing. Problem is, because the app is boring, the users just simply stopped using it.

I tried threads for about 20 minutes before deactivating it. In the home feed it was like they were doing their absolute best to show me everything that I would never ever want to see.

Thank you for pointing out the privacy issues. I don't think most people are aware of how much of their life is being sold off. Reminding us over and over is needed.

I think Threads is just something that a huge amount of existing Facebook and Instagram and Twitter users would think of joining, but it will also not retain use simply for being so many users who may not know what they want and may not understand and just want to explore options. Why do people want to say it is such a big deal that users died off early on without giving any comparison to other social media that people easily learned about upon release?

Someone has actually posted something negative about Threads 😳!

At this point I have enough "social media" in my life and I don't need another app. It's just becoming to much.

The account data deletion being strictly connected to Instagram is a big legal bypass IMO, it's basically threatening you to lose your Instagram if you want to get off Threads.

Too much absurd censorship. I got account restricted for joining many groups on facebook and also comment restricted for typing the word dark . I do not want to imagine what can happen on threads .

Zuckerberg bet that privacy farming was going to be the future and people wouldn't care. Wrong bet.

I don't think that many are interested in a Twitter-like app, and those that are, are on Twitter.

it hit 100 million bots i never signed up for it facebook/Instagram just forced it on had to delete my accounts for i felt my privacy was invaded and not only invaded but with out my consent. I later found out Facebook and Instagram does not delete your accounts permanently for shareholders. I also prefer apples security to keeping my date private and safe

Signed up just to see what’s going on there, I left it hanging by a thread and after this video I’ve deleted the app. We have more than enough content from existing apps.

It would hurt Instagram maybe Facebook if the people choose to delete their threads.

I’d say the hype just died. It’s not really dead, as you say. I will say it’s honestly just a cesspool of drama and gossiping. Basically no different than Twitter. Still a waste of time.

It shows you random popular things until you tell it what you like. So either train it, or stay off because honestly, you're not missing much lol it's a good place to have conversations when you do find the content you want though

Excellent news. I'm not that fond of Must, but, I'm less than pleased by Mark's presence. Mark will never succeed in defeating Musk. His greatest project is Facebook, which is almost dead, by now. Instagram and WhatsApp aren't his projects, he bought them, and that's why they are still working.

META works with US intelligence services , anyone who join any META apps basically allow USG to access all their data

Meta is like the Riot games of social media.

There’s a difference between a trend and something that has solidified itself in society as a form of communication. Thread was a trend. The trend is over. Plain and simple that’s how things are these days. For something to stay you have to make something that has never been seen or used in Tech communication by the public. It’s getting harder and harder to do With apps. Twitter (soon X) is the social media standard. This was a major WIN for Elon musk in his position in the future of technology. Believe it or not. They should not have sold that app. They most likely did it due to all the controversy… that app will be worth more than money can buy in the future of human communication. This is not an exaggeration.

What went wrong? There was nothing new that we have never seen before.

Netherlands (and France) said no to the EU constitution. So they can allow Threads

Thread never made any marketing campaign, it is still not avaible in EU... I believe it is dying rignth now but WILLINGLY. When they'll add the features, be marketed, be availble worldwide, etc. I believe it's gonna come back. I prefer Elon than Zuck, Twitter than Threads but I'm being objective : they didn't even try to make it big yet.
