    Honestly, this video has me reconsidering my entire fish room. I've been breeding a lot of smaller fish and I think I'm getting to the point where the smaller tanks aren't really doing what I need them to anymore. On top of that like you said, for the fish I want to keep larger tanks are necessary. I've always kept small tanks except for a 180 I unfortunately broke during a move. Thanks for the video its given me some good things to think about

    I agree with you Zenzo! I really think changing up every once in a while is a good thing to do in this hobby. I’ve been breeding lake Malawi cichlids for quite a while, and now I want to move him to the lake Tanganyika in realm. As far as tank size I do like the 40 gallon breeders and the 75 gallon for all the reasons mentioned. I do like other size tanks as well, with the amount of diversity that you have I think would be very challenging to figure out what you could do with the tanks that you already have . Based on fish choices. Thanks for all the great videos sir🙂💯⭐️

    My current struggle is trying to decide between two 40s or one 75. Two 40s let's me have more variety due to some fish being incompatible with others that I like, but takes up more space. 75 let's me have some really cool fish that are large tank only AND would save just enough space on the same industrial shelf for a 10-15 betta tank, leaving a larger space on the next shelf for a larger reptile enclosure if I wanted, however, unless I do a community tank in a 75, I won't have much variety. Makes me have to choose a side as far as community or centerpiece fish, since I'm a sucker for cichlids. Where I screwed up was falling for Congo tetras. Complicates things. Wish I could just have room for two 75s, but my floor would have issues with that😅 Decisions, haha.

    ive been watching quite a few of you videos lately and can you please explain something to me.. what is the difference between power feeding and over feeding your fish? or could anyone explain this plz

  • @TazawaTanks

    @TazawaTanks

    Жыл бұрын

    Great question! Power feeding is more of a controlled technique for a purpose, whereas over feeding is simply feeding too much without a desired result. Reasons to power feed might be to spark breeding activity or to add size to a fish or group of fish in a specific timeframe. Here is an example: When I am serious about a weightlifting/powerlifting program, or when I am trying to put on a specific amount of weight (like when I played football), I had a strict diet that I followed. I was prescribed a diet of around 4,000 calories per day, with a lot of those being proteins and carbohydrates. Because I was/am lifting so much weight and burning calories, I wasn’t overeating, but simply at a calorie surplus to add quality mass. If I weren’t exercising, and eating the same quantities to just do normal day-to-day things, I’d put on poor mass (fat). In this example, maybe an average man with average activity levels should be eating around 2,500 calories per day vs the 4,000 that I was eating. With fish it’s kind of the same thing. If someone is just over feeding without controlling the timeframe, etc., the fish will eventually get overweight. If you are power feeding, you are doing it on purpose for a specified amount of time, and even if the fish gain weight, there is a reason, and you are monitoring it. I hope this helps.

    I own a 55, 90, and 125. 2 salt tanks with on fresh. All with easy to maintain sumps. It takes a few minutes to see if filtration socks are dirty and minutes to wash out. Easy to clean twice a week vs monthly cleans with canister filters which take longer. 90’s are nice as taller. That is my freshwater discus tank. Discus augment my colorful saltwater fish. I still prefer acrylic over glass. Better visibility, so light, and fairly indestructible.

    I love the 40 breeder and 75 gallon for the floor space. 18 inches or larger foot print I just love. 40 breeder. I do also like the 55 gallon for a lightly scaped community tank of smaller cichlids or general community fish. My older brother got a 65 extra tall which only measures 3 feet long but is nearly 2 feet tall. It's his planted live bearer tank and even though he has multiple cichlid tanks (a 75 gallon mbuna tank and a 125 gallon American cichlid with 2 Jack's, 2 gold saums that keep breeding like crazy, marble/calico convict cichlids that keep breeding like crazy, a fire mouth and 2 silver dollars). When I get back into the hobby full time instead of just helping my girlfriend with her 30 gallon, I plan to get a 6 x 2 x 2 foot 180 gallon with 2 oscars, a Jaguar, a couple jack dempsey, a couple gold saums, maybe a Texas. Some convicts for dithers. I may be moving into a 4 bedroom town house with a finished big 2 car garage so I plan on turning the garage into the fish and terrarium room.

    I agree with the 75g, but not with the 40 breeder. Aqueon makes a 60g breeder which has all of the advantages of the 40, but is longer. In fact the 60g breeder is the same length and depth as the 75g, just not as tall. The 65g is 16" high vs 21.25" high for the 75g. The 60g breeder and 75g Aqueon tanks also use the same exact top lid. White the 40g breeder is 17" high, it's not quite as deep 18.25 vs 18.5, and much shorter 36.25 vs 48.50 . Price is the other factor. The 60g breeder can be found on sale for $99. which is just $20 more than the 55g, and $29 less than the 75g. Some may see this and think the 55g is the way to go. But as he said in the video, the depth is why I prefer the 60g breeder & the 75g. The 55g is only 12.75. So IMO the 60g breeder gives more bang for the buck, and room to spare vs the 40g breeder.

    Same likes and issues. I wonder what people thought of the 60 breeder and maybe bringing back the 30 breeder, I do not currently own the 60B and the 30B. I bet they would be more popular if they could make the prize competetive for the general fish keepers. The dollar per gallon is extinct and replaced with 50% for 4-5 common sizes, if you could find them "in-stock" without driving over 50 miles. It amazes me that they are always in-stock the day before and after the sale 🤣.

    Please show liters and centimeters (as well as gallons and inches) when you speak of tank sizes, Mr Tazawa. It would really help understanding your thoughts without having to paus the video and google the transformation table every time you mention a number? It would be so nice. Maybe you could round the numbers to even liters and centimeters for better understanding, and keep the numbers on the screen as long as ju speak about it? When speaking we tend to repeat numbers and compare them, so it would help very much to have the numbers written in a corner of the screen, just to remember what is compared to what, during one segment in the video. It would be a real help for us people living outside the US? Sometimes I'm hesitent to watch a video when some topics are discussed- bc I know I won't really get it. One looses the flow in the video when having to stop and check the numbers many times. Thank you.

    We just got a 75. Started thinking in the 30s and 40s. 75 just made too much sense for the reasons you said.

    The bigger tanks are great. I prefer 50 - 60 gallon tanks. Ok I only have 2. But they take less time to water change weekly than a 120 or 240, less filtering. Could put different species if one had several smaller tanks,but the bigger tanks just seem more awesome. Ok it's a toss up

    I'm the same way. I'd rather have a 20L/29G vs a 10G I'd rather have a 40B vs a 55G I'd rather have a 75G vs a 55G all of the tanks on the left of the list above give the fish and plants a ton more room vs those on the right.

    Those are interesting, but for the same footprint, I'd rather have the extra 15 gallons (unless I didn't want the height).

    @@TazawaTanks I’m trying to decide between those two now. I want to have a turtle with fish and to have it as a display for my show.
