Just finished rereading Darth Bane: Rule of Two. The arguments used by Daala in "The fate of the Jedi" were very similar to the ones used by Tarsus Valorum after the end of the Sith Wars. Daala pressed for similar control over the order, but by accepting punishment, Luke did what the previous order didn't, and started rebuilding faith in the Jedi again. Luke seemed to recognize what the old Jedi did not, that they couldn't be servants of the government, and his final choice was better than what Master Farfalla did after the Sith Wars.

Legends Luke was so good he had powers among powers even before reaching his full potential or potency to go toe to toe with Dark Empire Sidious and win a few times as well as constantly kicking Abeloth to the curb or corner yeah.

Thank you for covering some of the “smaller” legends material. Personally I’m getting into the legend’s material for the first time. And there is so much more outside of the “rise of thrawn” era that you make so easy to consume. ❤❤❤

If only this had become some series. I'm sure lots of people would've enjoyed this story.

Natasi Daala as a Republic senator was a complete jerk to Luke's Jedi Order. She was worst than Palpatine himself.

Kenth Hamner not prepared to be the Grand Master - I can agree with that. He tried to keep things peaceful between the Jedi and the government, but he seemingly forgot that Daala was a former Imperial who had once tried to take down Luke's order in Darksaber. Also, at the end of the Yuuzhan Vong War, Luke stated that he wanted to shift the Jedi's focus from serving the New Republic/Galactic Alliance to serving the galaxy. That was the mistake the old Order made - becoming too attached to the Republic and not doing more to help in the galaxy. Like Shmi Skywalker said in TPM, "The Republic doesn't exist out here." The Republic didn't exist out in the Outer Rim, and neither did the Jedi for all intents and purposes. You'd think after Order 66, the Yuuzhan Vong War, and Jacen Solo's/Darth Caedus' attempt to control the Jedi - all happening within a century timespan - the Jedi would establish a directive where if they're facing another "purge", they'll do whatever they must to survive first, even if it means abandoning their service to the government. As Cade Skywalker later pointed out, "How many times have the Jedi put their lives on the line to save the galaxy only for the galaxy to turn on them?" Don't think anyone could argue against him on that point. By that point, Cade had enough with Jedi doing so much to help the galaxy, only to get the shaft in the end. Why should the Jedi bother any more if this is what's going to happen? Again, can anyone say he's wrong to think and feel that way. Wonder if there were members of Luke's Order who felt the same way. Even among those who were part of his first class.

Yeah, that's one of the sad consequences of true service, no recognition, but instead kicks... But it's still the right path. Just because other ones dive in twisted minds and delusions doesn't mean one have to follow that dark path. :)

The chief of state may had some good points against the Jedi but they tainted by her control freak impulses. So yes I prefer Luke’s Jedi over all other Jedi eras so I will admit I may lean too much to in there favor on the matter but when give a control freak power even one good intestions they will abused it.

I’d love to see some what ifs again. How about what if Yoda killed Palpatine but Anakin killed Obi Wan? How would the galaxy look if both Obi Wan and Palpatine died in ROTS?

Maybe the Jedi should leave the Republic and join the outer rim and protect it from there cause I feel like Luke is making the same mistake like the old Jedi did by being a part of the Republic and it’s politics.

Slander. Kenth Hamner wasn’t a coward, he was a military man with split loyalties and sympathies. He didn’t fall to his death because he panicked either, he fell to his death after dueling Saba Sebatyne, and using his force abilities to damage the hangars and keep them from opening to let the x wings out, forcing Saba to drop him to stop him. Also, you know Revan’s ghost was judging the New Jedi Order for letting the Mandos threaten them.

Luke's jedi had far batter odds when it came to avoiding a war with the Galactic Alliance. If this was the clone wars all over again with some familiar scenarios, I don't think it would've been good. They did try to avoid repeating the same mistakes that the previous order had done. The biggest mistake old order made was when they acted upon impulse after Anakin reported about Palpatine being a Sith lord. Had they warned their jedi and the rest of the order and all before confronting Palpatine, Order 66 would've been delayed but many jedi would've been saved. Darth Maul was a good example even though he was sith. Before Order 66 was issued, He order his organizations to go into hiding because he figured out how the jedi would be wiped out. When its all said and done, Luke's jedi was without question being very careful when it came to planning their next moves. The choices they made were In my opinion, the right call. A hard choice to make especially The fact that both choices had no good outcomes.

The Sith really should have ruled the galaxy , because the Republic was clearly not intellectually capable of leadership . They disbanded their military ( despite knowing what happened last time that they did . ) They allowed a former Imperial to take control . They exiled the one individual that brought down the Empire . The leadership of the Alliance / Republic were a group of mental incompetence. The had absolutely no business running things , because they never learned from history.

Natasi Daala's response towards the Jedi was excessive but I don't think she, or the public was wrong for turning on the Jedi during that time. You gotta remember that while the Jedi are painted as heroes to us to an average citizen they're complete unknowns and when faced with a unknown of any kind most people fear it instinctively add in the fact these unknown people started suddenly going on frenzied rampages and the destruction a Jedi could potentially create and even the strongest supporter would be hard pressed to side with the Jedi.

It also didn’t help that she was completely ignorant of the differences between the Sith and the Jedi, she was right in that some Sith were Jedi that went dark but failed to understand that not all Sith were former Jedi. She also failed to understand that not all Jedi who go dark become Sith, sometimes they just become dark Jedi. Hell, Darla’s own chief of staff and chief of the navy had a better understanding of the differences between the Jedi and Sith and actually got a first hand experience when the lost tribe took coruscant. hell, Wynn Dorvan (daala’s chief of staff and later successor) was able to withstand interrogation/torture from the Sith and from freaking Abeloth without breaking.
