I think Dooku is nearly as tragic a character as Anakin Skywalker. And I respect Yoda for taking him as his apprentice when he did.

I very much have always like Dooku’s character even before The Clone Wars 2008 or the lack of content surrounding him. The way he fights, how he carries himself, what his own philosophies entailed, etc. Now that there’s been more content surrounding Dooku from his own upbringing to his eventual fall and later death you can’t deny that he was special. He, along with Anakin, were dealt a bad hand especially with how the Clone Era Jedi were handling their operations. Tails of the Jedi is a great mini-series with different points in time for Dooku and Ahsoka, but Dooku in particular with the events of removing Kamino, assassination of Syfo Dias, and his last tether to the Light in his own apprentice Qui-Gon. The lineage of Jedi from Dooku to Qui-Gon to ObiWan and finally to Anakin is something special with how each individual conducted themselves or followed the force in some cases.

As similar as they are, I can't help but wonder, what if Dooku had stuck around long enough for HIM to be Anakin's Master? Would that have stopped either of them from falling to The Dark Side? Or would it have sped both of them down it's path?

Dooku was already corrupted even before the events of TPM, so him being Anakin's master wouldn't have changed his trajectory. By the time the opening scene started, Dooku was already acting as Palpatine's agent.

Dooku is really interesting character. Great story, origins. Shame he was betrayed by him family, and most importantly Jedi. They didn't listen to him. They ignored. He saw the corruption of the Republic,Senate and the Jedi. He saw their flaws, dogmas and they ignored him even further. He felt the Sith return and they did nothing. They didn't help him liberate his world,he had to do it. Dookcu was a victim, mostlry of the Jedi. He had really bad circumstances. And that's when Palpatine approached him. I didn't know about this. May the Force be with you too

Dooku came to the Jedi Order with baggage 🧳 from being abandoned by his father. During his training the only friend he had was Syfo-Dyas (who he later set up to be killed on a mission from the Supreme Chancellor Valorum). Then later being tricked by Master Costana believing she was really a Sith. Being ignored by the other masters after passing his schooling because of the rumors he attacked and nearly killed a master. Later the death of Qui-Gon Jinn who he admired very much and blamed the council for his death, which could have been prevented. Too many times, Dooku had his a back pressed up against a wall by the council and made to feel as if he didn’t belong. Especially since he openly spoke against the council for being more obedient to the Senate than to The Force. It was inevitable that he would fall when presented with an offer to gain more power and become something else that the Jedi Order kept hampering for him.

Yes. I did love his character. It pissed me off when Annie chopped his head off. I freaking hated Annie after that. I saw Dooku more of a Grey Jedi, unlike a Grey Sith. Similar to each other except for which training came first. I believe Dooku purposely didn't kill either Kenobe and Skywalker when he jumped into his ride and took off.

Learning about Lene Kostana reminds of the Dark Woman An’ya Kuro. Both were controversial Jedi Masters who beliefs put them at odds with the High Council. Kostana studied Sith artifacts because she believed that the Sith would inevitably return, which was in fact true. As Maul and Ahsoka pointed out, to defeat one’s enemy, one must know and understand them. As for the Dark Woman, she believed that every living being had darkness within them, and the path to being a true Jedi was to learn and control it rather than completely suppress it. To this end, Kuro employed brutal methods when instructing difficult students. She used psychological warfare on her pupils to test their ability to control their aggressive feelings and remain true to the Jedi Code. So despite their unconventional beliefs, I think an argument could be made that these two Jedi would’ve been better prepared for the Sith’s return compared to their contemporaries in an academic, physical and mental sense.

One, I like Count Dooku! A LOT! He has a cool about him that is hard to ignore. Two, who would be better to try and channel the frustrations of the young Padawan Dooku that the Jedi Grandmaster? I mean, he's been around for centuries, right? I'm sure that all of that didn't go to waste. He may not have been actively training Padawan learners, but I'm sure that he made notes about what worked and what didn't work long before Dooku was ever discovered. Just my thoughts...

Honestly its surprising Dooku himself didn't try to turn Anakin to the Dark Side on his own initiative upon learning how the Jedi Council treated him, or that Anakin decided to learn why Dooku fell and tried to turn him back to he light. We could have gotten some awesome interplay of both sides during The Clone Wars until the inevitable conclusion at the beginning of Revenge of the Sith on board the Invisible Hand.

The council didn't play favorites with anybody, and they weren't obligated to do that with Anakin. The idea that the council didn't like Anakin is a false narrative. If that were even remotely true, Anakin would've never got the Knight rank. The council even gave Anakin a solo assignment on AOTC and stood by the decision, even though Obi-Wan disagreed with it.

It would be either curious or bothersome for a Grand Master (or anyone on the Jedi council) to have a pupil . I mean what do they do with a pupil ? Bring them to work ? Have them attend countless sessions, discussing topics in front of them that we're not for them to hear ? It's just ... not very believable .

@@taylorlibby7642 They love rationalizing the actions of Dooku and Anakin! Both had chances to leave the Jedi order. Dooku could have left 10 or more yeas before Phantom Menace. Anakin could have left after marrying Padme! Nope! They wanted power! They deemed the Jedi would be in their way and therefor was their enemies when it was Palpatine who was their true enemy. The Jedi suffered greatly but the people of the galaxy suffered more during the Clone war and the over 20 years of the Empire. The planet of Alderan was blown up. More planets would have been blown up if not for both Death Stars being blown up which would have met more billions killed by the Empire. Dooku and Anakin were a major part of the suffering of the people in the galaxy.

Dooku committed war crimes, and his own student saw the worse version of him on a faraway mission even before he officially became a Sith. Dooku was bad, and ppl's attempts to blame the Jedi for it says a lot about how severe their Jedi Derangement Syndrome is. Dooku was a product of his own terrible choices and his own ego, not the alleged failure of the Jedi.
