Okay but shouldn’t the debate on who’s better be centred around pure skill not accolades? Like even then you could easily make the argument that mike is better (especially because Lebron is on steroids and Mike wasn’t) but I think accomplishments shouldn’t matter very much at all. Maybe if that’s all that’s different between the players then there’s an argument there.

Keep in mind the Miami Heat were the favorites with 3 all stars on the team. Dallas Mavs only had one all star. Stop all the excuses. As far as Jordan being swept by an All time great Boston Celtics team that had 5 hall of famers, Jordan was in his 3rd year maybe with no all stars. Lebron has always benefited a bit from recency bias and the ability to form super teams in the modern NBA. He is an incredible player, one of the best ever no doubt, but Jordan’s ability to meet challenges when his team needed him the most is what separates the two and make MJ the GOAT. Jordan was always able to elevate his game to the occasion. Lebron tries to do the same, but the results are so different. Lebron tries to play better. MJ tried to win. This is an important difference that you can’t really quantify unless you have watched them both.

Assist averages have as much to do with passing ability and scoring average has to do with scoring. MJ is no question the GOAT, but anyone who thinks MJ is close to LBJ as a passer is crazy. Stockton averaged more assists than Magic ever did but Magic was a much better playmaker. LeBron’s passing creates wide open shots, easy layups, swing passes, MJ never passed in a way that got people easy shots, just happened to pass to the guy who took the shot and made it

The debate was done when he lost in the finals against the Dallas Mavericks, when he was in Miami. The only clear superstar that Dallas had was Dirk, second level was Jason Kidd. Miami had Lebron, Wade and Bosh all in their prime. And cemented when Miami lost to the Spurs in the Finals the second year. And you pointed out in Lebron's last game against Phoenix, and his arguing with the ref and not crossing half court. Look at the last 3 minutes of that game... the Lakers were only down 13 points. Down 13 points with 3 minutes to go! 3 minutes is an eternity in an NBA game. But Lebron gave up. I have seen the Bulls erase a 10 point deficit ON THE ROAD against the Pistons with one minute to go in the game. Lebron had 3 minutes, but he gave up. Period. Kobe would not have given up. But Lebron has no post game, so he always has to start from the top of the key and try to beat his defender going down hill ... dribble left and spin back right. Notice how the mainstream media is not pointing out the fact that Lebron gave up the last 3 minutes of the game? The people that say Lebron is the greatest of all time, are mainly those that only know MJ from his last 3 years on the Bulls, and not his full career on the Bulls. They never seen his early years on the Bulls, nor have they seen his first 3-peat. That is why they say Lebron is the goat. But those that have seen MJ's complete career (I have), and Kobe's complete career (I have), and Lebron's complete career (I have), know there is no comparison. People like to talk about Lebron being a more complete player than MJ, and they pick out his assists ... If you check out MJ's first finals against the Lakers, MJ was averaging more assists than Magic Johnson through the first 5 games of the series! Only until game six where Magic had 25 assists did Magic pass MJ. And what about the year MJ average 8 assists per game back in 1989 Playoffs when the Bull's PG got injured and MJ had to slide to the PG position. No body seems to remember that. MJ averaged 5 assists per game for his career in the Bulls, and this is a player that was not asked to be an "assist" player. And one more MJ stat that people tend to look over ... MJ last 8 YEARS on the Bulls, they NEVER lost more than 2 games in a row. So that started before he started winning championships. Can't say the same for Lebron. Lebron is absolutely top 5 for sure, but definitely not the greatest.

LeBron does more harm to his team than actually helping them to win not only does he slack off on defense so his team mates have to cover his man for him since he likes to hang around the basket for a rebound, he also handles the ball 90% of the time on every team hes on LeBron Rank# 1 All Time Most Turnovers Regular Season Career LeBron Rank# 1 All Time Most Turnovers Playoffs Career imagine that. the *Most Turnover Prone Player Who Ever Lived in the Entire History of the NBA* demands he handle the ball 90% of the time that is beyond stupid, its borderline psycho mania, like something only someone with brain damage would think is a good idea in basketball TURNOVERS COST BALLGAMES

@@youboob6297 True, but I can't hold that against Lebron, because he has played so long without being injured. So having the most total turnovers in the regular season and playoffs should be expected, considering how much he handles the ball. To me the telling stat/story would be Turnovers per game in the regular season, and playoffs. Like Kobe passing MJ on the all time scoring list, yet Kobe only averaged 26 points per game, when MJ averaged 30.1 points per game. Kobe played for 20 years, so it is expected that total points would be more.

Looking at Jordan highlights and Lebron highlights where MJ in his clips breaks the laws of basketball physics, the dunk, the shots, the room that he still finds after 3 players trying to block him and pass the way he does, I cannot say the Lebron is more skilled or talented than MJ. Lebron's moves are so simple compared to MJ and the only thing i see about Lebron being above MJ is that he passes the ball more, which is not necessarily better passes compared to MJ. There is a level of artistry and flow in Jordan's play that non before or after him had

This was never a real debate among people who know the game. MJ was simply the superior player whether your speaking statistically, Accolades, eye test, etc. From having a higher peak, to averaging 32/8/8/3 when called upon. This idea that Lebron is a greater all around player is vastly overblown. When Jordan played point guard toward the end of the 88-89 season, he averaged 34/11/11 (10 triple doubles in 11 games), simply unstoppable and if he were in the modern era would easily be recognized as the greatest combo guard ever. He was not only the greatest scorer to play the game, but when factoring his athleticism, scoring, and court vision you could legitimately argue he was the greatest playmaker as well. That's not even including that he's arguably the best defensive perimeter player to ever play the game. The only argument Lebron has is longevity, and any real fan knows that MJ missed 3 full seasons! Even if he averaged just 29PPG over those 3 seasons(below his career average), your talking about over 7000+ points he missed, let alone the other statistical categories he'd dominate. He'd easily be the all time scoring leader!! The gap is very very wide, there won't be another MJ ever again. Hell there won't be another 18yr old phenom with the longevity, athleticism, and consistent super star level play of Lebron either.

MJ for me is more than a basketball player. When tough times came to my life, I remember a man doing everything to solve problems. If there is any possibility to change the direction of your fate, MJ took it. When he was injured, and there were so much possibilities he can never be the same, and probably, his carrer was over, he was asked by his coach MJ, if you had a headache and 9 pills would kill you, and one of them, can resolve the problem what would you make? And he answered, depending of how harder was this headache. This is a way of thinking out of this world, probably, the rest of the populations never take one of this pills and he will take the risk to continue his normal life. No gas in the tank, he need all the gasoline to live his life with peace of his mind, knowing the risky decisions but being so brave to assume the results of this. MJ is All In, giving the best of you is the only way he knew to reach his goals. His parents were hard workers and MJ did what their parents teached when he was a child. Effort culture, hard work and then the success will come with time. This is not an sportsman way of thinking, this a life mentality to save every single obstacles, one by one, till the end. Since your last breath. This is why MJ was the best and will be the best.

That Spurs team was a great "TEAM" even though Duncan was 37 and showing his age he was still good. They were not a superteam, The Heat were showing how playing a "BRON" system can never beat a great "TEAM" system. 2007, again no that Spurs squad was a great team but they were not a superteam.
