Why The Dodge Viper Is The Deadliest Car In The World

The Dodge Viper is easily one of the most dangerous cars in the world. In no small part to its massive 8 liter (which grew to 8.4!) V10, that has a powerband more like a high performance electric car than a typical combustion engine. But why does it have a V10 in the first place? And just what is it that makes the car so dangerous? Trav dives in and finds out.

dodge had it on file and they still owned the Patent at the time and Carol Shelby followed lee Iacocca like a puppy dog, and lee tolerated it because it sold cars. the trouble with that is Carol loved to throw the bones with other people's money a little too much. them all the reasons you need? lee knew how to keep him in check. Carol wasn't brand loyal he was Carol loyal. he'd work for anybody if he thought it get him closer to where he wanted to go, so much as stated so, i don't fault him for that. a lot of people thumbed up their noses at him along the way. he stated that as well he went where the work was, and not everybody loved him at the time. faced the same troubles you and i would if we did the same thing he just had a unique way around it. some would say questionable. i say "this" if you could sidestep a bullet, [wouldn't you]?

About 3 years ago two young men were killed in a Viper where I live in Monroe NY. I think they were around 20 years old or so. Apparently, the young man who owned the car let his friend drive it and they both were killed. No high HP car is a toy and unfortunately many people don't have the discipline to restrain themselves behind the wheel of a high performance car.

It’s also a car with certain handling “characteristics” that take time to get out on top of. You’ve got to put some real miles on one to sort out how to get the most out of it without it throwing you into the tree rows. But be patient, learn the car, and it’s a sweetheart.

Love the gen 1 and 2 Vipers. Those will always be the standard for me. Awesome cars.
Here in town, in about 1994 or 1995, A dealership was either letting someone test drive one, or just sold it.. but right out of the lot, spun out of control and sideways into a light pole.
The fourth gen will always be my favorite. It’s the most beautiful, and it has the 8.4l v10
I own a 94 sr1, drive it every weekend and I love it... 400hp hits different in this car than a modern car... Very fast car and very fun... Handles amazing.. Arguably in the right hands as good as modern supercars honestly.. There super reliable as well.. Probably the most reliable supercar...
Me watching this video: "Damn, shouldn't get this car." me 1 minute later: "How cheap can a used viper get?"
You know the answer!! Of course we want more Viper content!! Specially out of that 5th and unfortunately last generation!! Dodge should bring it back with a 6th Gen!!
I was 8 when the VIPER debuted in Detroit in 89. My favorite car. I have driven 2 different gens. I learned alot from your video. Thank you.
this guy's narrative skills are incredible
I thought the decision on whether to use the v10 instead of a super charged v8 came because Carol Shelby (one of the designers) was admitted into the hospital at the time couldn't answer the phone. He wanted the v8 because it would have been lighter than the v10 with the same hp when boosted. So they made the decision without him.
@idealmedia - what an exciting video for a car which people hate to love. Would be more happy to see a whole lot more trivia! I got chills while watching this, but can’t wait to see more !!
Well, done bud! Really enjoyed this. It’s a trip, though. Seeing this now, having seen these videos of these 1800 to 2400 hp vipers now.…. Incredible! Thanks for the vid!
Nice paintjob you have done to your personal Viper Trav! Love the new bad boy'd white strips on black paint, I still remember the OG Plastidip green paint tho, in comparison the new paintjob looks sick AF and actually emits the vibe of someone who has got a lotta connections and monetary power
Epic! Interesting stuff about the V8's been off the table out of the question, team viper with the first gen, Viper made by hotrodders. I recently created a Forza series gameplay audio comparison with the GTS 8LV10. Also a fun fact from the other recent viper video "Dodge Viper //OVERDRIVE" I heard, the Viper inspired the shape of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

My one and only fav car ever since my childhood the dodge viper..... This is the car we won't see in our country but i fell in love with this car when i played NFSMW that handling that power only fit for the best from the rest ❤️

I love the viper and this video was very informative!!
Them first Gens were so Raw, basically a race car that was somehow street legal. I remember when that thing was the Pace Car for the Indy 500 and a lot of people were blown away after seeing it for the first time.
I can never hear too much about my dream car. Let's get a part 2!!!

I like how Trav's presentation is a mix of Top Gear and Doug DeMuro vibes
Love the video. Viper is one of my favorite cars.
More! Great video
I always thought that they would do away with the V10 and put the Hemi V8 in at some point but they never did and the car died with the engine it started with.
I just clicked off 121k miles in my 2000 Rt/10. Topless in Florida in a Viper. Nothing like a Viper. Nothing. Well done vid! Subscribing!
Funny, the video game Juiced has the Dodge Viper (fastes car in the game). The handling on it is wild. Really gotta have steady control, Specifically turning tight corners or any corner for that matter.
I remember a time when there was no traction control. No computer aided anything. 😅It makes things fun!

Imagine if a 6th gen happens and they follow the C8 and go flat plane crank V10 That would sound so good
Congrats on 1M 🍷
Yes, please give us more viper information!
I had a BMW E39 station wagon that I converted to an M5 station wagon look alike. Super fun fast car, I let a buddy of mine drive it thinking no big deal. 1st corner, he started getting on the gas and spun it right around and T bone another car. It was the 1st time I realized, some people have no idea what a fast car can really do, and those people should not be driving them.
@yeahnah7220
Жыл бұрын
All cars are fast, some just take longer to get to the fast part. What your friend did is achievable in any modern vehicle. some people shouldn't drive a "performance" vehicle of which an E39 is most definitely not one of.
Congrats on hitting 1 million subs
I've been driving a 2000 GTS for years now, no aids whatsoever. I don't go 10/10 but I'll say if the tires are remotely old/worn you're going to be in a lot more trouble. I will say the tire size also attributes to the car being extremely darty. If you hit uneven pavement on the highway, it wants to change direction very quickly. I have 81,000 miles on my car, it runs great. Minimal cabin noise in the way of squeaks and rattles. Parts are becoming a nightmare to source (I paid 800 for a water pump), and if you mess the body panels up you're pretty much screwed.

Ngl, bought a Harry razor after Gillette ran that “the best a man can get” ad, been using the same one since. It’s pretty nice, but it’s hard to mess up a razor lmao

I'd love to see a video for each generation of viper.
At least if i died in a 5th gen viper, my family would understand. I’d also imagine the cops and EMTs on scene would be jealous 😎
Interesting information you shared. A bit of it is new even to me. I own a 93 gen 1 Viper antenna car and I love mine :) It's the last badass American car ever made :) The OG Viper:)
