The surviving Pearl Harbor P26s were used as night interceptors flying well into 1942. They never saw an enemy plane but their open cockpits were seen as a positive while flying at night.
I beg to differ about how the peashooter got its name: it came from the plane's telescopic gun sight. That's one of the most visible feature compared to the 2 hidden gun tubes (by that I mean the shiny shrouds poking out between the engine cylinders)
Also The Planes of Fame Museum at Chino Airport in California also has an airworthy ex Guatemalan P-26
I've been watching you're vids and notice you have an accent, watching this solidify what I'm thinking, are you Filipino?
A Breda slipped in2 the mix
It had the same engine as what???
The Darwin comment is dead on!
Darwin…so seriously flawed that it’s still “the THEORY of evolution”…aircraft evolution, on the other hand, a provable and measurable product of human invention. Aside: I always laugh when I see the “Peashooter” - although it was an important transitional aircraft.
Not a word about it being a ripoff of the Travel Air "mystery ship"
