This is probably one of the best 997.1 reviews I have seen. I was blessed to find a 2007 997.1 CS back in Nov 2021 with only 48K miles on it. The prior owner babied the car and it is in mint condition and I absolutely love it. For me, I would rather drive a hydraulic steering, manual transmission Porsche from the early days of Porsche vs the newer ones they have now. With the classic Porsche's, you are one with the car, you feel everything the car is doing. With the newer ones, its all computer chips and Nanny warning lights. Classic Porsche's, you just get in a drive. Keep up the great work on videos. Would love you see you guys do more Porsche reviews.

Thanks for the feedback, Troy! The 997 is an amazing Porsche. A good friend owns a 997 Turbo S which I hope to review this year. Keep an eye out for a 991.2 GT3 touring coming soon. All the great sports cars have already been built!

Nicely. I picked up a 2006 997.1 about 5 months ago from a local dealer. Original owner also babied mine and it's just amazing. Mine has 117,000 on the clock as of today and it runs like a maniac still. It's so much fun to drive. I couldn't agree more on the feedback from driving it and the connection to everything. I was originally thinking about ordering a new 911S and I no longer have that desire. This thing is amazing. FWIW I also have a 2017 Macan Turbo that is nearly completely optioned out that I also bought used from the same dealer. The Macan is faster 0-60 by nearly 1 second but the 911 feels faster and is way more fun to drive. Likely because of the size and the connection with the driving experience.

The reason to choose this over all the other models is the cost of parts and maintenance. Found a Carrerra S w PCCB brakes. Rotors are $10K a piece!! The whole brake kit for the base is $500. Different strokes for different folks. So, if you want those upper models, you gotta get ready to pay. But for those of us who have to watch the $ a little more closely, base model it is!

The IMS and bore score is an issue on the 997.1. That keeps the value lower as it should. Great car.

I have one in meteor grey. No sunroof. No rear screen wiper. Also had a 996 but this looks so much better. Only thing I wish different is slightly stiffer suspension.

Rear wipers you either love or hate. Never understood why "no rear wiper" is a source of pride for some 😊. I also had a 996.2 C2 manual, now 997.1 C2 manual. Very similar to drive, although the 997 has Ohlins coilovers, which even set for street are harder than the H&R blue with Bilstein B8s I put in the 996. If I had a choice I'd go with the H&R/B8 setup as I don't track the car.

The guy on the left is leaning on the door. That is very good on the doors of the 997. It will mess up the door alignment. The door is made to be leaning on to handle that weight

This is the last 100% naturally aspirated, no injectors (997.2), built by Porsche not VW (2010) and a brilliant drive, lightweight as the guys say..

You had to order with "sunroof delete" to not have a sunroof. I have an '06 and use the sunroof in tilt mode all the time to get better airflow inside. Without it cracked open the fresh airflow is poor if you don't turn on the blower. I think this is kind of a poor design. Back in the day you could tilt open the rear quarter windows to aid airflow. I wish I could do that with my car.

Targetting a 979.2 Carrera. Mezger boxer engine plus hydraulic steering is driving bliss.

What do you think about 977.1 carrera 2005 automatic? It’s not pdk so I’m worried about that

Doug, the owner, states that they are for a 964 Porsche which he modified for the 997. He ordered them from MagnetBra. Hope that helps!

This. I'd buy the Carrera S in the 992 form bc it's the lowest trim in which they offer a manual, but that's an additional $20k from the base.

There are so many cars that are sub 3,500 lbs. I accept your challenge.
