    1. Astros definitely had a dynasty. 7 years and at least 2 championships have always been the magic numbers for me. 2a. I think they’re just slumping. That’s about it. Hader **should** get back to top shape by June, when it’s hotter and the team’s back in the flow, but don’t expect him to suddenly get back to 1.28 era again, but he didn’t exactly have a stellar year two years ago. 2b. Closers are weird, they’ll just have a really good year sometimes, and then have something happen in their mechanics or process that they need to fix the next year. Nature of the most complex position in baseball. 3. Even though the new manager is familiar with the squad doesn’t mean they’ll play the same. Sometimes the secret sauce is in consistency, and considering the guy wants to change things up first year like this can be concerning. Baseball is weird, only so many things you can control.

The Astros currently sit at 10-19 with 3 straight wins. I think they rebound nicely with Verlander looking fantastic, Valdez being back, Javier and Urquidy coming back soon, and Abreu DFA'd. Abreu and Hader will rebound. Hader already has started to show signs of getting better. Nobody is elite this year, I think the Astros will be fine. They do need to hit big on a couple draft picks though.

Losing the ALCS 2019 WS style (losing all 4 games at home again) to the in-state rival Texas Rangers was not the way to continue the ALCS streak, so what would October 2024 have in store for them anyway? .... stay tuned and maybe find out. Dynasty ended following that damn Game 7 loss to the Rangers. Best players are old and regressing (Altuve, Bregman, Tucker, Verlander) and they have a rookie manager with questionable lineups. Abreu is a disaster offensively and defensively and the farm System has been depleted. The reality is this team is probably done for a few years, might as well start rebuilding again

Another aspect to their potential downfall is that they've been slowly downsizing their analytics department for years now. The owner, Jim Crane, seemingly has an irrational hatred for analytics after the fallout of the cheating scandal and have replaced the minds of Jeff Luhnow and James Click with old boomers like Jeff Bagwell and Reggie Jackson. Imagine going from cutting edge analytics to back of the baseball card. Just this alone justifies their potential downfall

@@anthonymartinez0865 lol. Dude don’t be an idiot - the era is over. Luhnow is gone and Strom is gone. We just signed a 34 year old to 110 million dollar contract. Bregman, verlander, framber, and possibly Tucker will/should be traded at the deadline so we can rebuild. Texas and Seattle are better and younger than us - we crushed it for a long time but we have no young talent to replenish our losses. Just look how our team was built - altuve-kuechel-mchugh(trade)-springer-McCullers-correa-bregman-tucker-yordan(trade)-framber-garcia-urquidy-McCormick-abreau. We had an amazing farm system that relied on the genius of lunhow and analytics department that was brought over from Tampa bay (this group all went to the stros or dodgers. I played with many of them before we all got cut and they went to get their mbas to become operations coaches). They all left and went to the reds and orioles (that’s why they’re both awesome now). Seattle and Texas moment is now - it’s the right time reload and rebuild. That starts with crane being hands off - he got rid of Lunhow, for some reason ran off Glick, and ran off Nolan Ryan - it’s a problem. Go back to analytics. Get another great pitching coach. Ban bagwell from ever stepping foot in the juicebox or spring training. I know more than you. I’m not going to argue with you. I just do. It’s very evident you became a fan in ‘17 like most bandwagon stros fans.

The Astros run of dominance is coming to an end for three separate reasons:The Astros went all in and left their farm system weak,The Astros let their rotation fall off massively and their bullpen has become an unprecedented mess so far,the third and final reason is this. The Astros never built themselves for the future by replenishing their farm system with young players who could develop into superstars.Take my favorite team, the Dodgers.they’ve built themselves to win right now and win in the future because they strengthened their farm system with trades. The Dodgers pulled off success for now and for the future perfectly. The Astros failed miserably in trying to replicate what the Dodgers did this offseason.
