Finally, another solid review on the 7th Gen 6-6-Redline and SmokingTire are pretty much the only other ones. The refreshed 7th Gen remains my absolute favorite Honda. I sold my 7th Gen 4Cyl 5MT back in April, but I agree with each of your points about the solid diving feel of these cars-it was perfectly balanced. I now drive a 2014 EX-L V6 with the J35 and it truly feels like the last “classic” Accord.

I’ve had my Alabaster Silver 06-6-6 for almost a decade. Only mod is an intake resonator delete, it really brings out the engine sound without being offensive. The rev hang isn’t bad once you get used to it. If you turn off the traction control it’s an absolute blast in 2nd - 4th. The transmission is geared to transition to 4,500 rpm from redline of the previous gear to keep the VTEC engaged. Downshifting from 3rd to second is easy, the speedometer matches the tach (50mph = 5,000rpm) Lots of these have issues engaging 3rd gear. Swapping out the trans fluid with some friction modified stuff will remedy that. Keep the oil fresh and the timing belt right and you can run it as hard as you want every day of the week.

8:52 That "Rev Hang" is from a Heavier Flywheel. The s2000 has a light weight flywheel from the factory, and any other manual car with a 4 cyl is going to have a smaller lighter weight flywheel than a V6 has. This is a GOOD thing for non experience drivers, Or Drivers who do not do "spirited" driving and pulls every so often. It helps with a smoother operation of the manual trans, via easier rev matching, As you said, making it more comfortable for the passengers. While maintaining a manual for the driver experience. Luxury Honda things. Very different than your Heavily sports inspired s2000 or whatever.

I actually got one of these used a few years back for $2500 because it had a bad clutch (the previous owner didn’t want to pay the $3000 bill to replace it). Replacing the clutch was one of the first things I had to do. And one thing I can vouch for is that the flywheel is VERY heavy.

I have the same car. V6 manual 2006! I love it!! It is fast as hell is and in pretty great condition(some scratches and a tiny bit of lifted paint around the wheel well but nothing severe) It has high miles 290,000-but I got it for $2400 from the original owner who kept it up perfectly and I have every piece of paperwork for everything that was done to it plus the guy put it all on a usb stick too! I found it worth the price imo. I do think I need a new battery and two of the rims have a slight bend which causes a very slow leak on two of the tires, but the guy who sold it to me did give me one brand new rim with it just in case. It has new tires, a bunch of new front end work, and this dude loved this car!! Some people think I paid too much but this car with proper maintenance can probably last another 200,000 miles. It drives far better than my 2018 pimped out Ford focus that has 40,000 miles on it and the ford has had a ton of work lol. I also have a 2007 Honda accord that is a 4 banger (110,000 miles) an automatic but it still is very zippy for a 4 cylinder. I’m starting to get hooked on Honda‘s and these great videos are part of the reason. Thanks for the vid.

Nope. I looked at buying a v6 accord auto until I read the reviews and the transmission problems owners have, also the v6 engines are not the best either as they have their fair share of issues. I ended up buying a 2011 accord euro R cu2 luxury 6 speed manual 2.4 litre and I’m so glad I did. What a car-the power the handling the luxury the quality build, everything about this car is just awesome. These accord euros are the best Hondas Japan ever made. True JDM cars and are becoming highly collectible. Can’t say the same for these v6 accords though.

Actually, as long as the V6 is a non-DOD engine (which ALL M6 Accords were), they are virtually unkillable. Reliability-wise, I would DEFINITELY put the J30A4/A5 above the long stroke, short rod K24, which has a tendency to consume oil (gee, I wonder why).

Part of the reason for these cars feeling ‘torqueless’ is that they are geared very tall. First gear in particular seems like it is taller than it needs to be, which can make it more difficult than a V6 sedan should be to start out on steep hills. On the other hand, sixth gear is actually great on the highway and can quite competently climb most any freeway grade without downshifting. But the lower gears should be shorter. Interestingly, Honda actually went with shorter gearing all around in the 8G and 9G V6 Accords. This is in spite of the fact that these cars got larger 3.5 liter engines with more torque. Regardless, transmission gearing (and braking) is one of the few gripes I have with this car.

Very happy to see a review of this car. Before I bought my 2004 Acura TL 6 speed manual I was looking at a dark blue 6-6 07 accord coupe.. beautiful car but I passed on it because the previous owner didn't take care of it for the price he was asking at 230k miles. My TL just rolled over to 230k and it runs and drives like a new car. I'm still tempted to buy a V6 automatic accord but I'm happy with my 5 cylinder 96 Acura TL just need to take care of the passenger side quarter panel rust that's barely noticeable otherwise it sits at 109k miles and is like a new car. The TL 6 speed manual always got brembos so that's what I always look for to see if a TL is auto or manual but are you sure that 6-6 doesn't have Brembos in the front? I'd say the 6 speed manuals are worth paying for if you can get them for a fair price. I bought my 6 speed TL with 200k on it for 2,100 about two years ago and it was garage kept by the original owner up until the month before I bought it

@@BernonCars one of the things I would keep original. But yeah everyone has their taste. A red I4 coupe 5 speed I would love to rock that trim. But not a 6-6 The 6-6 sedan was the ultimate sleeper; An SI killer and V6 Mustangs and Cameros kryptonite. It’s the only thing that can kept dads giggling on their way home from work back in the day. And I believe there are less of these that FK8 Type Rs. Also please let’s make it a rule if you kill 6-6 sedan you aren’t allowed back into the platform. I will start hoarding them lol we can’t loose any more.

This is a great car, but it seems like you came across one that wasn’t running at its full capacity. I’ve owned three 6-6’s, stock they would spin tires through 2nd and chirp 3rd. It sounds like the clutch was slipping or maybe just a bad driver

Typical sagging headliner. Mine is sagging too. The audio system has a tendency to go bad and a good excuse to upgrade. Automatic transmissions on the V6 were also problematic. Better to stick with the manual.
