Bern on Cars

Hey Peeps! Thanks for stopping by! Let's take a look at some of my favorite cars of the past, and some interesting new cars as well LOL. This is a safe space for fellow car nerds, especially Volvo nerds! Welcome welcome!!

You owe it to yourself to still drive a 2010 Ford Sport Trac Adrenalin with V8 and navigation package and all bells and whistles. 😎👍🏻👍🏻

My Dad had this car. We would lay in the hatch area. I remember hearing him downshift at the stop sign and knowing it was him.

As much as I like how luxurious and powerful the newest XC90’s are, I prefer the 2004-2014 ones because they had so many different engines and I really miss the in-line 6. The new motors don’t have as much personality and don’t feel fitting for an almost 5k pounds suv despite having more than enough power for the job. I’ll admit, the turbo in-line 4 engines are pretty torquey and feel great when you mat the throttle.

The window flutter is real. That’s happened on mine too when going at higher speeds.

Too bad Lexus killed off the V8. I prefer that to the turbo V6. Though the V6 doesn’t sound that bad without the augmented pumped in sound. Also I noticed the 4.6 in this car sounds much like the 5.7 V8 in the sequoia prior to the redesign.

This car is one of my favorites! The 3.2l in-line 6 is a pretty good engine with decent power just you may have to push it a little harder than other engines. They sound great too. Forgot to mention I have an 07 and it’s still really smooth running and is very comfortable on the highway. I also noticed mine loves to do nothing but second and third gear pulls. It will not downshift to first even if it’s going slow enough to.

I'm so used to riding/driving cars that are from the 90s and early 2000s that vibration and rumbling isn't a problem for me. Especially since my family's main vehicle for many years was an Isuzu Trooper, which is basically a truck. For me, it's so weird to be in newer cars that are quiet. When I would ride with somebody who has a newer car, I'm always so baffled in the car being quiet. Personally, I love cars that are a little older and have the vibration and rumbling (and meaning that there's something wrong with the car). There's something pleasant about cars that have that.

I've driven the Celica gts, Corolla xrs, and the Matrix XRS, but unfortunately in The Matrix, the lift wasn't working. Without lift (the rev limit was around 6k without) it essentially pulled like my Toyota Echo manual. The Matrix and Corolla kinda had the shit end of the stick, so to speak, getting stuck with the same intake as the base cars. Celica gt and gts had interesting active airboxes with vacuum flaps. The Corolla inparticular not only had a more pedestrian tune in the Ecu, but again didn't even get a better muffler, just a plain Corolla unit. As much as I like the matrix, I do wish that the shifter location wasn't quite as awkward. It's fine in a Hinda Element, but something about the Matrix manuals (XRS or otherwise) just didn't feel natural. And the 6-speed the Toyota uses, I wish they had a better lock out for reverse. If you're a bit too clumsy and the one to shift it's easy to catch that side gate. That's kind of user error on my case, but Honda had reverse over on the right where it wouldn't do that. The other thing about the Matrix in particular, it seems like one of the most statically charged Interiors I've ever dealt with. Regardless, I really like the styling. It's got a lot more interesting lines, especially the ones over the rear fenders wrap into the tail lights. The vibe was a lot more boring, but the vibe also had those interesting roof rails.

I own a 450H President and It is fabulous! It takes a little getting used to the gearbox being a CVT but it is very very fast and at the same time economical. Mine is fully loaded, originally ordered by the dealer as demo-car and I can't think of another car to buy that would fulfill my demands, considering in my opinion there isn't anything as reliable.

This is my 3rd Lx470, bought wife and i matching 2000 models, had them for several years, sold both, missed them so bad, sought out another and found a 2006 Galactic Grey gem with only 76k miles across the country. I paid a premium for it, but honestly have not seen another SUV from 06 up to current 2024 that I'd trade it for. This thing is smooth, refined, elegant while also very capable. I'm in Colorado and it performs in the ice and snow better than any other vehicles that I stoplight-race with. The traction control and planted feel make you confidently win all traction races from the line in the snow! All around its a beautiful wip. Since I purchased it 4 years ago, the value has increased by over 10k! Couldn't be happier! Thanks for the video that confirms all of my same experiences.

Great to see others on here with higher mileage . I picked up an 09 one owner with full service history . 103k miles . Going to do the transmission drain and fill method . I did the legend install with front and rear camera . Working out the RTI display but it brings it into 2004 era. Great video and content .

Hi, I would like to see the below scenario's in the car if possible. it would be great if you try to provide the below useful information. 1. I would like see clearly the start stop button illumination or blinking in different scenario's. (ex: Blinking A (slow) and Blinking B (fast) and ON with delay) 2. answer back for Smart entry and keyless entry (ex: flash light is on for smart unlock and lock the door) 3. Remote engine start answerback to the user by flashing 4. walk away close answer back alert 5. PCU buzzer sound in different scenario's (ex: Transponder search is started and Transponder search is successful finished and Gear lever is other than P-position at IG OFF and Driver door open when IG ON) 6. warning messages to the user on dashboard in different scenario's (ex: indicate 10sec wait for SSSW after BACKUP key authentication. and displaying a guidance for shifting the gear lever into P position and inhibit the meter from displaying messages during ACC). 7. not p alert on dashboard.

I have a fully loaded 2002 Hoe w/5.3L. that I bought 3yrs ago for $3,999. It currently has 244k miles on the motor & tranny. The only thing that I had to do due to ATL’s required emissions-was buy a new Y-Pipe Catalytic Converter kit. All in I spent $450 including parts & labor. Zero mechanical issues!

I had one for a year in college. I got it for 3k and my friend said it looked like someone changed into a werewolf in the back of it. I didn’t check the tires for dry rot and blew 3 of them. I got good at whipping it into a parallel spot. I miss her sometimes 😢

That was an awesome overview man. I really enjoyed all the information you shared. It's a car with a solid history. I just bought a 2006 GS430. I agree with everything you said about the car. It's SO nice. The damn build quality. It's through the roof! It drives so smooth and effortlessly. This is the result of outstanding engineering AND execution/production. Very interesting to see how far my 06 has come compared to the 01. Mine feels upgraded in many ways to yours. If you made more videos on this car I'd watch em.
