For the type of riding you described at the start of the vid, nothings beats a Fantic Caballero Scrambler 500. Such a simple yet competent and FUN bike when off the road! Follows the same philosophy as this this and the van van. Only newer.

@@JuanRodriguez-cn1ek how could a Caballero be newer than a brand new bike?
@JuanRodriguez-cn1ek
5 ай бұрын
@@savage22bolt32 haha what i meant by newer was that it has more modernish tech. ABS, hydraulics disc brakes (front and rear), fuel injected etc. Yet they remain similar in philosophy by virtue of their set up/purpose (scramblers/dual purpose). Both Lightweight, throwable, single cylinder, both upright, lacking tcs, slight offroad capabilities etc... fun simple bikes. All scramblers are pretty much. This just has a little more oomph with better braking power.
I’m 5’6” with a 28” inseam. When I got back into riding a few years ago, the TW200 was what I bought. I ride a 1250GS now also, but I still have the TW. I use it as my farm bike. I still love it and I don’t intend to ever get rid of it.
I used this bike in my beginner course and got my license on it. I fell in love with it and so I found one and bought it. Most of my riding and practicing has been off road. My drills are not on level ground. lol! That’s hard to find around here. But I love love my TW.

Great area.
I first saw this bike in Avalon, Santa Catalina Island. The bike totally made sense for the island.
Stumbled on this channel and I live in SD too so this was by far the most applicable review for this bike! Definitely gonna buy one now.
I've got one I take with me when I go camping. There's plenty of trails to ride and it's a blast. I'm also fortunate to live in the country so it gets a lot of use. When I want to go for a long ride I take one of my Harleys.
Miles of smiles since 1987!
I have the bigger brother to the tw200, the xt250. Its fun but i definitely want an upgrade at this point. Bullet proof machines though. Fun in the mountains.
How I learned was with a stick shift. Took drivers training stick too. The instructor took me all through San Pedro haha. Figured automatic was too easy. Glad you did this review/vid. Much appreciated!
Simple, reliable, and fun. Don't see myself ever selling mine.
It's a fantastic bike for anyone. I've been riding a long long time and I also have a Suzuki DR650 but I really love my little TW200 as well. You won't ever outgrow this bike because there is no other bike like it, once you have one you have one of the only ones. For a small CC bike it can be made to do lots and lots of things. It's it a highway bike? No it isn't, it doesn't have the power for that, but for anything else you want to do it's a very versatile machine to do it with. Great bike, totally recommend it.
I sold my 15’ WR250R for a 15’ TW200 and have no regrets. I live near the mountains so single track is about 15min away. Installed some RaceTech fork emulators and taller bars. It’s perfect. Only downside is any highway riding is meh. So I recently bought a Buell XB9 for street work. I didn’t know this about myself but I think I have a thing for weird looking motorcycles lol
Both of my adult kids learned on a manual 5 speed Honda CRV. I also just purchased the same bike, same year. I am enjoying it.
Here in the UK I just spent the summer on a 125cc VanVan learning for my full licence. It's been a fucking blast! Can't wait to pass in March (hopefully!!) and ride something quicker 🤣
I'ma just say a ford ranger is a excellent first car regardless of manual or Automatic Haha. Who doesn't love a small pickup

Thanks for the review
Cute. A shop near me has had one of these for some months, surprisingly. I would have gotten one 9 months ago when no one had one, but I'm ready for a step up from my 125cc engines at this point and this is just not enough of a step, so I've been looking at 300s dual sports for my next. The Vanvan is cute though! I love its styling. Too bad no one makes one like it with a 300 - 400cc engine. I am still waiting for the makers to realize the market needs one.
It’s what I took my riding credential class on and it’s definitely an easy bike to ride. I did grow up ridding dirt bikes as well though.
The stick shift thing made me laugh when I saw it happen in real life. Getting my windows tinted when the guy went to pull it into the garage he had to run and get someone else because he didn’t know how to do it
I will never sell mine but get asked if I will almost every time I take it anywhere. There is a huge aftermarket for t-dubs, even performance parts. Awesome machine.
I learned on the Tu250 at the MSF love these bikes
I learned how to ride on this bike when I was 10. Im now 45 lol. Bike looks EXACTLY the same. It has to be the longest running production vehicle of any kind without any major changes,

I don't think the VanVan is an "upgrade", especially since Suzuki ended its North American import run at the end of 2019. It has EFI, yes, but that is not without cons. A TW200 carb that is jetted and tuned properly to elevation will fire up just as easy without help from the enrichment circuit (not a "choke"). They are just set up lean as hell to appease the EPA.
4999 plus fees. Wow. That’s a lot of paper for such a simple bike.

Well when even a small lunch is 15 bucks and it costs 100 dollars to fill your vehicle, 5 grand doesnt go very far these days
These bikes/dual sports in general imo are the best beginner bikes. They’re light, forgiving, quite durable, and easy to work on. 🏍️👌
These bikes have insane resell value, that will tell you alot about them. Its a bike that youll never sell.
Gonna get one or two for my two kids. Need to build the workshop first. We just moved to the mountains 😀
Hey man, if it has two wheels & a motor, count me in! Brakes optional.

I was thinking long and hard about buying one when I was getting back into riding after 25 years... ended up getting the 2015 Honda CRF250L with 19k miles and some upgrades and I'm glad I did. Having the fuel injection for when you inevitably drop the bike on the dirt trails is a godsend... flooded carbs suck to restart.
I had a GF who started on a T-dub. Absolutely the BEST beginner bike ever! They're even fun for an experienced rider. They do snow and sand like it's dry pavement.
One of my favorite all-time bikes, especially if people are short and have problems reaching the ground, though that front tire is kind of ridiculous, but with a new front tire and some bar risers and a couple upgrades it’s a pretty awesome bike, it’s kind of lake a great farm bike or just something super easy to go mess around on. The van van is cool but it’s not gonna last like a TW and it’s gonna be hard to get parts and there’s gonna be almost snow aftermarket. The only advantage is the seat is super comfortable and it’s got fuel injection, but the van van isn’t really built all that tough. Still pretty cool and if you’re not gonna abuse, it off-road and just keep it to mild trails and gravel roads it would be cool, but you gotta be careful with it.

The headlight reminds me of the DRZ 400.
In Montenegro (and most of Europe I know) you have to learn and take tests on manual car. Most people drive manual cars aslo. I can see how horrible it would be to sit on a bike without knowing how clutch works.
Can you test a BMW R1250RT and compare it to your GS?
Have you ever done a video on the CB500X? Thanks in advance.
This bike looks so funny, weirdly nice, it’s like a wooden bike with golden tyres

2024 or 1984. I get it but seriously these things need to stop being made new. They are insanely overpriced for the tech and no one wants one new but you barely have a choice. But the market is seriously lacking anything reasonable for a small cc semi road legal dual sport. This and the XR150L need to go away. They have great 125cc modern engines and parts bin parts and chassis which can easily be put onto a different bike with other parts. If one of the big companies can make a reasonable modern version of these it'll sell. Everything is already there, just need to switch production.
