This was my first introduction to the sport because canada qualified. This whole tournament got me interested in club football and now im a Arsenal fan. I watched morocco play in a mall because they decided to have a viewing event in there, I enjoyed the passion all the morocco fans had and they became a favourite of mine.

I think what made this WC so enjoyable (at least for me) was the fact that it was during the winter. Getting up at 5am to watch a full game before school and seeing almost everyone watching games in the hallways was awesome. Right now at least it’s why I don’t mind winter wc’s and it’s why I’m actually excited for Saudi Arabia 2034

As a Moroccan, I'm definitely going to the World Cup 2030 in Morocco, Portugal and Spain, if nothing stands in the way. I've been to conferences where people attended from all around the world, and it was great, but the WC has to be a crazier experience.

Croatia not being talked about is odd. We secured 3rd place, a WC medal in consecutive world cups. Thats an amazing achievement for any country in the world, let alone one with a population of 3.9M. We beat Brazil in a crazy game ending in a shootout. This was the first time in history we managed to beat Brazil so for us thats an achievement in itself. This WC was amazing but it seems really odd to me that you imply that Morroco and Japan had better runs and a more interesting WC even though Croatia was the hurdle they stumbled upon. Croatia is a footballing nation. We have a population of 3.9M and we have 3.9M managers. Football is a way of life here. From childhood to growing old we follow, respect and love the game. Crotia plays European teams all the time, and that's an advantage in knowing the oppontents which Japan and Morocco didn't have. Second Croatia already went to the semi-finals, so in Qatar they were falling, NOT doing progress. Also it took Croatia 30 years to slowly get there. What's so remarkable about that? Potentiall speaking, Morocco could have beaten Croatia hands down, but they had lost all the motivation and passion, 1 red card, injuries, and what not else. They wanted to beat France, but that was not "allowed" if you understand how football really works. Maybe you are too young to understand. Therefore they couldn't beat Croatia either. Morocco, on the other hand, made a giant leap in one single world cup, and didn't just pass 1 stage or 2, but like 8 in one tournament, and went straight to semi-finals with a clean sheet beating just the worst opponets at every stage with no advantages, no lucky scores, or penalties or help from the referee. Did you realized they won against Belgium, Spain and Portugal with Rolando, and they had 9 players only??? So what will it do in 16 years at that pace with a full team of that level, well trained? IN Qatar the only had 5 real good players, but growing. What happens when they will have 10-15 at that level? That is the question. This is how you stufy football. Japan also did well and I supported them all the way, because they played fair and well. So your meter of comparison is totally wrong. You can't compare a team that slowly made it to the semi-finals, in *30 years* with a team that went from A to Z in one world cup. Morocco also beat Brazil just recently, so? Now, to assume that Croatia is better than Morocco, tells me that you must be from Crotia and just being nationalistic, which is disrespectful. Let them play 10-20 matches and we will see. That is football. If you watch football enough, you know that Croatia has no chance, as old players leave the team. Morocco is taking kids to do new numbers. One is falling, the other is growing. Even my Italy is falling, big time. I admit it, because it's a fact. This is not Italy from 2006. Things change, and new teams get stronger. You need to accept that. As an Italian I'm on nobody's side, I only hate South Korea. But don't tell us how much you love football in your country! You are not special, and I don't like to hear that. When kids were playing footbal with flip-flops on asphalt in Morocco, Croatia didn't even exist. I travel a lot, and Morocco is second to none when it comes to football, much like Brazil, and Italy where I am from. So, If you love football and undestand how it works, you can see that Morocco is doing GIANT LEAPS, whereas Crotia might even be falling. It depends on the players. Can it buy better players? Morocco does not buy them. It also depends on the coach. It depends on the money. It depends on POLTICIS. As soon as Russia regains contact with the west, you will see where Crotia will be. Remark my words, but I'm sure you won't beleive me now because it hurts. Russia is an important factor in this game. One mistake we also make in Italy is that we assume things...until we travel and realize we are wrong.

Personally I will always think the 2010 wc is the best but this wc was insane especially living in Qatar from South Africa ❤🎉

Bro. My first World Cup was Mexico 86. I was 5 years old and remember going to Spain vs Brazil. Then my next one was USA 94. I live in the USA I was 13 years old. Amazing memories. I’ve been to a ton of Gold cups and cops America finals. This year I’m going to Germany for the Euros. And I can wait for 2026 when the WC comes back. My son will be 15 continuing the dream. I had some of the best memories watching that World Cup, I remember whenever there was a game going on during school, we would use up our free viewing trial on Fox Sports each game and then convince one of the other kids to let us use theirs and that’s how I saw the Brazil vs Croatia game, the Japan vs Croatia game, the Portugal vs South Korea game and a bunch of other matches Another great memory was being in Washington DC with family friends for thanksgiving break right as the World Cup started and watching the matches over at their place and seeing the crazy upsets like Morocco’s win against Belgium and Japan vs Spain and Japan vs Germany And who couldn’t forget me nearly having a heart attack at home watching Argentina vs Netherlands and then watching the final Argentina vs France with my dad and going ballistic when Argentina won in the shootout Absolutely amazing World Cup and definitely the best of all time

Maybe dutch bias but that Argentina-Netherlands match was 🔥🔥ofcourse it still hurts a lot that we lost but proud we put up a fight against the eventual champions

The best WC in my opinion: 5) 2018 4) 2010 3) 2006 2) 2014 1) 2022 This WC had everything. The group stages were crazy because we didn’t know who would qualify. Mexico looked like they were going to the R16 but that last minute goal ruined everything. Morocco’s run for the WC, Group E didn’t have a clear winner until the very end, Group H’s crazy phase, Argentina’s crazy run to the final and fight with the Netherlands, Croatia beating Brazil, the possibility of CR7 v Messi at a WC final but only to be Mbappe v Messi (better in my opinión) and that final can’t be scripted.

Best World Cup will always be 2014. Costa Rica winning the group with three former World Champions in it, Suarez biting scandal, almighty Spain out in the group stage, Messi in the final, Brazil getting obliterated on home soil in the semis and so and so on

No. This was the best one. Followed by 1970, 1982, '86, and 2002.

2014 would’ve had a strong case if Costa Rica had made the semis and Argentina had won the final on Brazilian soil. Germany winning again was such an anticlimax

@@bloodyounghBut it’s Germany though, one of the most dominant teams of all time (last couple of world cups notwithstanding). It would’ve been more exciting to have a new team win. That’s what elevated 2010 for me.

I still remember those chill winter nights and 12.30 AM indian standard time kickoffs. I don't even sleep the whole night when Argentina won the world cup.

I swear my dad is a psychic. The night before the game Argentina vs Saudi Arabia, him and my sister got into a little argument and out of nowhere my dad asks “who is winning tomorrow Argentina or Saudi Arabia?” My sister responded with “obviously Argentina is gonna win” and my dad was like “oh really? I say Saudi Arabia is gonna win tomorrow.” The match starts and Argentina is up 1-0 but as soon as I arrive back in New York I hear the match ended 2-1 to Saudi Arabia. He did this during the match France vs Switzerland too during the euros.

100%! 2022 is one Ill never forget & im from NZ who cant play this game. I believe Messis signing at Miami will see him play this 2026 World Cup to say goodbye to the US in style. Dreams are free, but that would be just totally amazing

I remember, I was in English and we had a substitute, so we were not doing anything and we have a large Brazilian population in our school and that was the day were Brazil lost the Croatia and one girl left the classroom to use the bathroom and she came back and said that there was kids crying in the hallway and I also remember we had one period after that, gym Class and they were kids with like tears in their eyes and it was just crazy

It hit different because it was during the winter nyc 🦅

The only thing missing in my (polish) opinion is that Szczęsny's perfomerance like man he saved 2/2 penalties and he was the only reason that messi didn't score a goal in every single match. Also what a coincidence that in EVERY polish game there was a penalty (for Poland against Mexico and France and for Saudi Arabia and Argentina against Poland)
