Thanks for showcasing my home town Mark.............a little off on the fishing........too far inland although on the water for fishing. Water nipper was my Father's first job on the waterfront...........he just pasted in Oct 23 at age 91. I regret not getting a picture of him standing in front of that mural........another great one Mark.....thank you.

Love Botwood! I featured it in one of my cross-Canada roadtrip KZread videos. Churchill, FDR and Lindbergh all visited Botwood several times!!

Growing up there was a restaurant in Botwood that we simply called "The base". In my memory it was delicious food.

Botwood wasn’t known for fishery but pulp and paper. The paper from the grand falls mill were trucked to Botwood to be shipped throughout the world. When we weee boys and we were entering Botwood we could see the ships dotting the harbour waiting to get loaded with paper. Very busy town at the time

Thanks for posting this video, highlighting another little town about which I know very little. I attended a wedding there during Thanksgiving weekend 20+ years ago, and the fall foliage in the area was spectacular! And I had seen some footage of a couple of those incredible murals (on news reports, I believe), but I had no idea there were so many! You've piqued my curiosity. Maybe I can get there this summer. 🤔🙂

I grew up in Botwood through the 80's when it was a more bustling town. Walking or driving around "the loop" of town would allow you to see what young people were out around and give the opportunity to drop into one of the convenience stores along Commonwealth Drive; James', Waddya Want (previously Mok's), Burt's or Wong's. They are all gone now, which is sad. It's certainly not the same, but the murals are a nice touch to bring a little attraction to the town. Be sure to visit in the summer when the Heritage Museum is open down on the airbase - Botwood has an impressive history that few people seem to be aware of.

I'm sure that what I saw was nothing compared to what it was like in the 80's but I was very happy to see quite a bit more activity than I was expecting. A busy restaurant inside the hotel I stayed at, teenagers hanging out all around the center of town, a big group older folks getting together for coffee at the little coffee shop inside the Irving station, general traffic... I wouldn't call it bustling, but just so nice to see people going about their business and living their lives in a small town.

I bet you can't guess where I'm from? LOL!!! Another great video mark, really look forward to seeing more of what you've done and the effort you put in to showcase some of these communities is incredible. Keep up the good work I really appreciate it myself and I'm sure many transplanted Newfoundlanders will say the same.

I am so jealous right now. This is my hometown and even though I've lived in Ontario for 30+ years, I miss it every day. Been back a few times over the years. Totally enjoyed this video sir. I'll be sure to like and subscribe.

Thank you. I can't imagine how different the town must be compared to when you lived there but I hope I represented present day Botwood well.
