    Great video! I grew up down the bottom of Pennywell Rd right around Ches's and Leo's. I was always a Ches's man growing up but Leo's was excellent! I remember when Scampers was at the corner of Lemarchant and Longs Hill and the Big R was on Harvey Rd across from the CLB. It was fish n chips heaven growing up. I've made mention in another video but there is a difference between townie and baymen fish n chips. Baymen do it well, townie do it best! 😂 Keith's really is excellent. What are you doing with me b'y ? I'm in Alberta. Glad I can say that I had my share of fish and chips with dressing and gravy in alot of the spots you showed. I miss that, and the water. You showed the ferry to Bell Island, my uncle was the Captain of the John Guy, Kipawaw, and another one until he retired. Once we got out, he stepped away from the wheel and said she's all yours. I still remember that feeling when I took that big wooden brass wheel for the first time and the instruments, definitely good memories. His wife Aunt Myra made a deadly fish and chips. Its actually pretty interesting why it’s like that in Newfoundland. I can’t be sure that this is why, but I remember as a little kid the big Coke bottling plant shut down and a lot of ppl lost their jobs. Pepsi kept their plant going so everyone got behind them. I was super young and never really understood what that meant at the time but I still remember it being a very big deal. I’m pretty sure that still plays a role in how Pepsi is much more prevalent than Coke in NL even to this day.

  • @andrewhayes88

    @andrewhayes88

    Ай бұрын

    Newfoundland dressing is used as a stuffing for turkey but used a lot with fish and chips as well. All it is, is Mount Sio savery with breadcrumbs. On fish and chips it's usually served dry, not cooked. When used as a turkey stuffing, it's more wet/cooked (which I honestly prefer but I will eat the dry dressing as well). It's nothing like Stovetop style dressing/stuffing when it comes to looks or taste.

    Come on you are NOT SUPPOSED TO SERVE GRAVY DRESSING TARTARE SAUCE OR ANY OF THAT SHITE with fish and chips. Just get a grip. Fish and chips ground rules: always fresh never frozen and always cooked to order and NO SHITE ON THE SIDE.
