No real fan would say that kind of shit… That mentality is just a product of hypebeast culture, which Frank became associated with after CO. Anybody who talked like that after his brother’s death should throw their merch & records away, because the fans don’t claim them.

this is exactly why it's super offputting to me when fans of musicians try to pressure them to release entire albums sooner than planned (i've even seen people say this about kehlani, which is absurd to me bc i feel like she's been constantly working and putting out new music for yearrrs). i honestly respect it a lot when musicians are able to really step back and take the time to make their project into exactly what they want it to be before releasing it. kinda wish they were allowed to do it more and the industry standard for record releases wasn't so unrealistic

and to the point of celebrities being humans at the end of the day, if one of my favorite artists suddenly decided to retire from their music career, i would be sad of course but i would completely understand if that's what somebody felt was the best decision for them, regardless of how much more potential i personally might've thought they had

Although I would love for another album. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't, and I don't blame him for it. Even though it might be a little frustrating realizing that he was going to release "Look at us, we're in love" in 2020. I think that the things he went through and the way many fans treated him when his brother passed away, or right now telling him that he doesn't care for us, it's just too selfish. He makes music because he wants to, and taking a break from things it's always good and I'm glad he's doing it, and even if he thinks that he's retired from music I would also completely understand it, it's like everything in life, he's a human and like us we get tired with our hobbies, our work, school, etc. It seems now that we're Deef Jam trying to slave frank into making music. I just wish him the best and be glad that he changed our lifes with his albums, i'll always be grateful for that

*From Frank Ocean's 2011 interview with MTV:* _What do you want people to know about you as an artist?_ "That, I don't know if it's about me, but I think just creativity in general, _just doing what you want is so important_ . You know, doing what you feel is right, and what connects with you is important, and I know that might be cliché´, trite, corny, sappy, whatever you wanna say. One of the coolest things I'm experiencing right now as far as people responding to the songs I wrote and what I decided to do is that _it really is me_ . So, when people are saying they fuckin with it, it's like, they fuckin with me, and that feels cool. [...] I mean, it's just crazy, man. It's cool, and I want people to know that I'll continue doing that, _no matter what the fuck they think I should make, I'll always make what I wanna make, and what I feel is the tightest shit_ ." kzread.info/dash/bejne/Yp2It7GOlrHNdcY.html

According to Frank's public statements, Homer might be where his heart has led him: an outlet to create material, luxury objects in a completely different market place to a completely different demographic. Sounds authentic, and nowhere in the marketing for Homer does it feel like these items are "for" fans of Frank Oceans music. But one perspective that seems to be lacking from the conversation is that Frank, being an independent artist, now requires independent funding. The creation, promotion, and touring process surrounding an album could cost millions. Not to mention paying the talent (didn't his producer sue him for millions for unpaid songwriting credits/dues? People know what Frank is worth now). A 25k c*** ring might get traffic to his website but it's more likely they find something else they like on the site that's an "affordable" 5k and that's what they checkout with. Sales baybee!

If the person always makes music about their expiriences, maybe let them expirience life enough to write good songs about it? Thank you for this Dev. Really important perspective. He's my absolute favorite. I literally love the dude for what he's done for me. Why should I ask for more? I'm so grateful for the work he's put out. His soul is in his stuff -- that's why people resonate. Artistry is difficult to do because it's outsourcing emotion for all. He delivers every single time he performs. What else can we ask of just one person? His life, his freedom, is his own. If you really listen to Blonde and to his work, Frank has always been about freedom. He wants to do everything. He has a lust for life. Leave him be and he'll hand you diamonds -- but those take time

While I see him as a human, I do agree people went too far with the brother death and see him as a product at the end of the day when they contrast his tragedies and the music he will make (if any). But at the same time, thanks for the very product he made early in his career, now he got a platform which yeah he is entitled to do what he wants, but yeah it annoys me when he uses that platform to promote his jewelry and things that frankly are overpriced and don't bring that much value to the target of his platform, alongside the 20k a c ring costs he should invest that on customer service.

If you get frustrated by the lack of new music from Frank, go listen to his song Orion. You’ll wonder how he’s been able to just get out of bed for the past two years. If I lost a younger sibling in such a tragic way I’m not sure if I could ever get past it, much less get in a studio and write music for people that don’t know or understand me. The line in Orion that really smacks is when he says, “If I could buy back the years, I’d empty my pockets here.” He didn’t realize just how prescient he was when he wrote those words. Demanding more than the magic he’s already given us just feels greedy at this point. I’m content accepting whatever Frank decides to share, even if he’s done sharing forever. And let’s be honest, his reclusiveness and dearth of music makes the arrival of new music that much better.

Honestly I personally take it a step further and think if he only decided he wanted to make jewelry from now on, that would be ok. He's probably focusing on Homer because he's interested in it, and I think that's pretty cool. I think the brand is super unique and interesting. It's expensive, but he has some more affordable pieces in the mix. My personal experience with Homer customer service was perfect too. Just seems like so many people feel entitled to his art, like.. why? If I were him I wouldn't even want to make another album.

Frank Ocean has been impactful enough for a hundred lifetimes. I hope there’s more music, I’m sure there will be, but if there’s not then so be it. Frank deserves to do whatever he wants forever, doesn’t owe anything to any of us.

I haven't thought about Frank in forever, just out of frustration really I obviously want more music, but I don't really need to feel invested in him, nor care, since he barely shares anything remotely personal other than some really expensive merch anyway and I don't feel like waiting Like, Idgaf about what nikes future projects are because that's just a brand made to make money, and that's what I feel Frank has become to me Not that I feel he owns me anything tho. Let him make his money and I'll just keep looking somewhere else

I think if frank wants to take a break from music and make jewelry that’s ok. Also I don’t care about the price. Tyler literally dose the same thing with the golf brand. It’s expensive because it’s rare and designer.

Artists don’t owe their fans anything. If an artist puts something out that someone likes, that person can show their appreciation by supporting them. However, that in no way entitles anyone to expect anything from said creator, much less forcing them to creator when they don’t want to. Please reflect on your own entitlement when you start thinking that a complete stranger owes you their time and passion.

It’s like he got slapped in the face by a label that doesn’t care about him and then on top of that his own fans are like “damn bruh you should go poop on a butt because you won’t make more music, lil silly lil guy that doesn’t wanna realest music like YOU MAKE MORE MUSIC RIGHT NOW. MAKE. MORE. MUSIC.” So yeah that actually seriously sucks you know, dev you take your time with your amazing music
