Actually he wanted to test wb -im guessing 1v1 small clash (not deadly battle).......bcz i don't think mihawk wanted to actually fight wb as he KNEW wb was weak With observation u can tell how powerful ur opponent......Mihawk probably saw wb's power decreased alot But he probably realized he would need to fight all commaders to reach wb -so solo an entire crew just to fight an old and sick man (doesn't make sense).

Mihawk's nickname is clairvoyant (hence he shoud be great at observation haki). As for marine ford it was suppose to be luffy's guts being amazing (as most mc have this passive ability).......althou it can be changed later on Tome what's amazing is how mihawk knew (before the news) that the marines were coming his home.......as he tells the ghost girl ur leaving time is great as something was brought up at revire (king's meeting) -mihawk like the outside world shouldn't have known anything about the meeting (like the warlord system being demolished) Hence i why i think mihawk will be among the best in observation haki

It's still baffles me how people think Mihawk is a fraud. If he never beat Shanks before, there would be no reason for him to have that title. And then there's this headcanon that Shanks became way stronger after they stopped duelling.

Well, you have to think about if he was dueling with this guy that beat him at least once, and he loses one of his arms which causes Mihawk to wanna stop the duels, Shanks has to strengthen himself in some way to make up for that arm. This could've been the period where he started training his Haki to these crazy lengths.

Mihawk never beat Shanks though, when they meet in the east blue saga Mihawk says "I'm not here to settle scores" meaning it was a draw

Am sorry but marine Ford was more than enough proof for me to understand that even though Mihawk is most like the strongest swordman with the greatest sword techniques, he isent beating shanks in a death match, during the war ppl were wary of Mihawk being their, but his presence didn't make either side sure of victory or loss, the fact that he was their didn't really scare anyone, and ppl know him to be the strongest swordman. Now I don't give a dame how strong Shank's crew is, the moment this man stepped foot and dared them to come at him everyone immediately gave up, you gotta be sooo much stronger than everyone that both side didn't think they would stand a chance, even if each person in shanks crew was warlord levels that still wouldn't of stopped everyone, they would all have to be acknowledged as at least admiral level or higher and their captain would obviously be much stronger than them, am sorry but i think the only reason Mihawk has that title is because shanks never wanted it, his ambitious were much different than Mihawk.

Mihawk blade is the strongest because not only is one of the 12 supreme blades, but also tenguyama told zoro that making a blade black it's like upgrading its rank (the concept it's this but he used other words), so that means that yoru has even and higher rank than the other 11 Supreme blades (in the other example of shusui, the blade is one of 21 great blades but because ryuma made it black it's like if it's one of the 12 Supreme blades)

Regardless you're not getting a bounty that high killing some fodder Marines. You'd have to defeat an admiral or something to get a bounty over 3 billion.

I think the idea of raw individual power and the factors for bounties is actually what makes power levels in One piece interesting. Shanks is an emperor not simply because of his incredible power but because of his influence and territory. I think it's stated that the red hair pirates overall has the most amount of powerful members of any crew. Mihawk doesn't care about a crew or territory, he just wants to fight strong opponents. I think Mihawk being this insanely powerful individual who doesn't care about influence makes him very interesting. I do wonder one thing though which is how Mihawk would do against the other emperors. Kaido puts Shanks among Roger, Whitebeard, Oden and Rocks as a person who could actually fight him. If Mihawk is even stronger than that, that would mean Mihawk would be able to go up against Kaido. I think overall comparing Shanks and Mihawks raw individual power isn't really nuanced since characters power level in One piece isn't only based on their own power. Shanks is a way bigger threat than Mihawk because of his crew and his influence in the world, so while Mihawk may be stronger in one sense you could argue Shanks is stronger when looking at other factors.

Also Oda said that Shanks' crew is so balanced, every single member is on par with eachother. So basically their strength really is in their number. If Shanks was as strong as fanboys want him to be, his crew would literally have 10+ above admiral level members. That would not make any sense. Shank’s only edge against Mohawk would be his ridiculously strong conquerors shaking and by extension his conqueror’s haki coating. If Mihawk doesn’t have conquerors for whatever reason then that would even the odds a bit more in shanks favor due to how strong advanced conquerors is. However, if Mihawk has Advanced conquerors then I still think Mihawk takes the dub. Who knows what had shanks has up his sleeve tho.

Mihawk's bounty is definitely influenced by the fact that he is part of the cross guild, I'm not saying all of it but a good portion. Buggy is gassed up as a yonko and the world government sees mihawk as being associated with buggy, that alone may have gave mihawk an additional 500 million.

Shanks is trained by Rayleigh who is a swordsman who uses kicks shanks has 1 arm so he would need another means of combat so ofc he would use kicks so if they fought with only swords and shanks can only use his sword an nothing else then yes mihawk wins based on skill but if shanks can kick he overwhelms mihawk and wins

@@zackary4063better armament, conq not confirmed. Has excellent observation haki but it might be meaningless against shanks. But overall mihawk is far more skilled than shanks in terms of swordplay. But shanks wins over in terms of haki power. Not trying to start something here, but I’m just saying, since shanks only has one arm, ppl must know that’s a disadvantage in terms of swordplay. While his haki is far more powerful, mihawk is the WGS and has a good armament haki. Plus, most likely has better biq.

The debate will never end until most people can agree on how valid titles are and what exactly they mean in OP. Most people agree that Whitebeard wasn’t the strongest man in the world at marineford but it was still his title. Some people believe that Roger was stronger than Primebeard as well. So was the title based on physical strength? And if so is Kaidos based on that as well? Because I would bet Zunisha carrying Zou for years on end would put his physical strength near the highest of the series. Personally I don’t put a lot of stock into the titles. Usopp literally has the title of God right now… The safest bet is just to say they are relative. And if you only want to go off feats you would have to say Shanks because he does have better feats right now.

fact that roger or newgate was not given world strongest swordsman title even thou they were great at useing a sword and both had a supreme great blade .and were litarlly the strongest men ..distroyed your entire arguments of mihawk being stronger simply because he is a better swordsman. ryuma was the sword god which means titles for sword play is not a new thing....shanks is a sword master mihawk is is the strongest at sword play.. that doesnt mean he is stronger than shanks who is the master of all haki. if mihawk is stronger than shanks be extention you have to say he is stronger than roger and newgate who were also supreme blade whielders. oda specifically state that mihawk is a better swords man its so so specific the words choosen ..he could've easily said stronger than shanks full stop .. but he choose not to .. i think thats very telling .. one piece is complex anime its not black vs white theres alot of gray...

oda stated shanks lost no power from losing his arm. despite mihawk being the best swordman he stalemated with shanks everytime. story wise shanks is going to be stronger anyways being one of luffys end game opponents. compared to mihawk being zoros end game opponent. theres a significantly higher chance shanks>mihawk than the other way around as luffy is way above zoro with the release of gear 5.

We could literally say the same thing about Shanks until a few months ago 😂. Episode 1081 was not that long ago. Also shanks didn’t take down an Emperor, but he did immobilize them. This is an insane feat for Shanks, but given that the narrative literally paints him as Mihawk’s RIVAL scales him up in the process. It’s not like he’s just some pansy.

Mihawk literally sweats when shanks shows up to the war. And dips there’s no way he’s beating him 💀

1.) Oda himself clarified. zoro, king and shanks have 1cm more height than sanji, queen and mihawk. showing who have the upper hand in rivalry. also cracker is 1 inch taller than doffy. 2.) Manga itself stated that mihawk is better in skill, that itself means shanks is greater in power. 3.) If mihawk is the most powerful swordsman than how come he was never able to defeat shanks. 4.) mihawk was equaled by vista, stopped by jozu, wasn't taken seriously at all, little more than fodder level in MFW. 5.) mihawk got scared by seraphim and ran away to make cross-guild for safety. 6.) mihawk bounty increase after making cross-guild itself is too low, implying how weak he is compare to shanks. 7.) whereas mihawk was fodderized by vista, jozu and crocodile. was too afraid of WB that he wanted to measure distance btw him and WB. And same jozu was one-shotted by aokiji. Meanwhile shanks bought an ADMIRAL aramaki to his knees by just being present few miles away. 8.) shanks one-shots 3 billion bounty level characters, while mihawk at best stops them. 9.) Vista said to be rival of shanks, whole mihawk failing to slash jozu because he used different attack is so much cheese with no logic. mihawk doesn't have impressive bounty, mihawk bounty after having overpowered crew is less than shanks having under powered crew. Shanks was scared of a pre Gura Blackbeard who almost lost to Ace and never tried to go after him. 5. And where did you get that information? 6. Mihawk isn't even the captain yet he has a better bounty. Bounty doesn't equal Power. 7. Literally where do you have the evidence to say that he was scared lmao? how did you even make up your own story lol? First of all mihawks bounty froze and was unfrozen the second they abolished the 7 warlords. So his bounty is purely because of himself and not because of cross guild. Mihawk scared of a seraphim? Show me the exact chapter i followed the manga and never was mihawk scared of a seraphim. Shanks challenged mihawk numerous times but he couldn't get the world strongest title implying shanks never defeated mihawk and mihawk having even better sword skills doesn't automaticly mean shanks has greater power where did you got that from? If it were a sword fight and shanks is only allowed to use his sword then yes mihawk would win but shanks is trained by Rayleigh who is a swordsman who uses kicks shanks only has 1 arm meaning he has to use kicks or else there is literally zero other moves he could use besides sword techniques and if it were an all out fight where shanks can kick he would beat mihawk

Mihawk has a higher bounty than 2 of the current Yonko (including his own Captain) and is over 90% of Shanks’ bounty without the title of Yonko, his own territory or his own crew. He’s literally the only character I can think of that has a higher bounty than his captain. He breaks every rule in the book and people think he isn’t the same tier as Shanks. It’s silly.

Anyone confused about the greenbull icident. It was not just shanks' presence that scared greenbull away, even green bull himself exclaims "the red hair pirates!!" Even he doesnt single out shanks. What scared him was a 100% healthy yonko CREW not the captain. Green bull was in the country akainu was sweating at the thought of sending all of the navies might against Greenbull got cocky and thought best time to strike was when they were as imjured as possible, and when he got there king and queen were sitting ducks and then he runs into a few scabbards, an unknown person (yamato), and another wielder of dragon fruit durability and power who clewrly cant use it and then the unknown is told not to fight at all. And he knows he potentially has 3 supernova crews, 4 supernova one of which us now a yonko, and wano citizens but all are in an unconfirmed state of health so why not strike now (they fought kaido and big mom he was expecting months long recuperation from injuries at least) and then in this easy fight versus scabbards and momo, turns out, you have the full health ready to fight yonko crew threatening to block your exit. Of course you run when you dont even know if the yonko you'll have to deal with already is good to fight or not. That "feat" goes to everyone not just shanks. Tho the wifi haki was interestting its not what scared him off it was just the alert that the WHOLE crew was there. Tldr Scaring greenbull wasn't just from shanks but his whole crew being with him and covering his exit out of a country of strong but possibly injured people. Not a solo feat. :)

First off I think he just felt Shanks's haki and assumed his crew was with him since its much stronger than the rest of his crew. Also Shanks might be a celestial dragon and has connections to the government. We cant really assume anything for now but what we do know is that shanks would obliterate greenbull. I would say kidd scales just a little below Gb. There is no way he would take a fight with him.

So he at the very least thought he could take him. Now I am not discrediting mihawk in any way here.I do agree that mihawk was holding back on luffy and so on and so forth. I just am not 100% that mihawk wins here given what is shown in the manga.

Shanks has (in my opinion) the strongest crew from all the yonkos at the moment and Ben beckman is said to be close in power with Shanks, neither of them Have any Devil fruits so they have good haki. That said maybe Mihawk can ext diff Shanks but not solo his entire crew? Especially when even the marines decided it s not worth to fight them

This was also shanks before he became yonko, which means now he is stronger. Fraudhawk didn't change at all since then and hasn't fought anyone else. He is a fraud that is stuck in the past. A correction. The picture you showed of the swordsmen is actually not from an official source and it was not drawn by Oda. It's a fan drawn and Oda was asked to sign it by the fan. Also, I agree with some of the comments here, where Mihawk's bounty was definitely influenced by the Cross Guild which is held as the biggest mercenary organization. On top of having the WSS title and Cross Guild affiliation, his bounty is still lower than Shanks, who has no personal title and was said to have a weak fleet. All I'm gonna say is Shanks shocked an Admiral from who knows how far and 1 shotted YC1 level character Kid and his first mate.

Here we go again the "WSS title" argument. People really think that just because you have that title automatically puts you above every sword user in the verse regardless of the story portrayals. It's a very dumb and shallow argument. Especially when the story specifically mentioned that Mihawk "Swordskills" is above Shanks and not he's stronger overall. And also the black blade argument, where he's one of the only person to have a black blade so he must be easily above every swordsmen. Like Roger, WB, Reyleigh and Shanks all these top tiers didn't have Black Blade so it's clearly more than just haki related.

This is horrible. Kaido himself said it, haki transcends all. Shanks has been shown that his haki is on a different level then almost anyone in the current verse and is possibly already on par with Roger. Raw power isn't everything in One Piece. Mihawk is the better swordsman but I seriously doubt his haki is better than Shanks. Also, the fact that Oda purposefully made Shanks 1 cm taller than Mihawk is funny because it makes me think Shanks is just slightly more powerful than Mihawk overall. And I'm pretty sure Mihawk stopped dueling Shanks AFTER he lost his arm because what did it affect? Shank's swordsman ship. MIhawk's goal was to be the best swordsman, not to be the strongest man or be the KOTP, so if Shanks swordsman ship was affected after he lost his arm, there would be no reason for Mihawk to continue dueling him because he's no longer a worthy opponent for SWORDSMAN SHIP.

yeah, when mihawk and shanks dueled shaking the grand line they were actually just clashing swords without haki on them for sure mihawk teaching zoro haki as part of his swordsmanship training? no way, haki and swordsmanship are different things, it's impossible that good haki would be an important part of swordsmanship, right?

i think after shanks lost his arm is when mihawk became the world’s strongest swordsman because he said something like there’s no point in fighting now that he lost a arm

Think about it, a lot of lives for at stake and shanks knew that if underestimated kid then they could potentially have been wiped out… I also think that a lot of people like to like to say kid is “weak” but lets be real, he is pretty strong. Not Luffy strong, but still very strong. To ONE SHOT kid his a pretty big feat, so I’d say he wasn’t holding anything back

I think mihawk is stronger but the bounty point is wrong because he was a marine hunter before his bounty was frozen

As Shusui didn’t give Zoro a power boost as much as Enma did, I would say that aside from being harder, it’s just a badge of honor to get a black blade. Kinda like you virtually getting nothing after comleting 151 Pokemon in generation one.

Im a huge Mihawk fan, but I think in terms of the story Shanks is going to be stronger than Mihawk, not in terms of sword ability but just overall fighting capabilities. Because hes somewhat Luffy's end goal where as Mihawk is Zoro's end goal. And while I do find this Shonen trope very dumb, Luffy is the main character so hes gotta have a stronger goal/ opponent than Zoro who isn't the main character. I also believe Marineford is arguably one of the worst arcs to take any sort of feats from, Haki wasn't fully fleshed out yet, and the people that downplay Mihawk because of his interactions with Vista and Jozu is crazy. I feel like where we are at in the story now and after Wano, Oda has somewhat perfected fights and power levels now and we are going to see that in the last war that he said is going to make Marineford war look like nothing. Again huge Mihawk fan and would love if it turns out hes stronger than Shanks, but I just don't see it happening, I also think that the level Luffy is now, along with people like Kaido, Shanks, Mihawk and pretty much all the end game characters are just all relative in power, I think power scaling can be fun to talk about but to take it serious makes no sense because Oda can literally make anyone stronger at any point or make whoever he wants win a fight just because lol (Like Luffy beating Kaido, still salty about that one lol)

Shanks isn't Luffy's end goal tho. Becoming pirate king is. Sure shanks inspired Luffy and supported his dream, but directly surpassing shanks isn't Luffy's end goal and won't make him Pirate king. Shanks role in the story isn't to be top 1 in the verse. Mihawk is Zoro's direct end goal. Mihawk is the world's strongest swordsman and that's what he has going for him. The narrative and Zoro's dream requires mihawk to be the strongest Swordman. Imagine after Zoro defeats mihawk, Mihawk says "I'm not the real world's strongest swordsman shanks is" you think oda gonna do that? And I don't understand how you're the world's strongest swordsman when there's another Swordman walking around who could beat your ass in a sword fight but you're simply more "skilled" than them 💀

A final test is greatly teased as is the case for Mihawk and Zoro, I don't know why it's so hard for you to see. Oda hasn't confirmed Mihawk is stronger.

Im so sorry to put it so simple... im assuming luffy will have to get stronger to fight shanks for no other reason than story line so zoro would have to surpass gear 5 which is far above the lvl hes at and top luffys new upgrade he get while facing shanks (unless he fights mihawk before luffy fights shanks which means hes stronger than luffy at one point or when luffy finally meets shanks he just stomps him) to even compete with mihawk then pass mihawk himself not possible with only one saga (without huge ts) matter fact ill make it simpler for da slow ones shanks luffys mentor/rival mihawk zoros mentor/rival plot wont allow mihawk to be better

I’m going to just say if you think Mihawk is the strongest swordsman because of his title, then Blackbeard is the strongest character in One Piece because he has the “strongest in the world” title. This is said by Oda in the data pages and by several characters in the story literally saying Blackbeard is the strongest AND IT DOESNT SAY STRONGEST PIRATE, it says in the world. Apparently feats don’t matter compared to titles even though we know big news Morgan is the one who makes them up because he can.

I mean Blackbeard has two of the strongest devil fruits in One Piece. I don't think it's much of a stretch to say he's the strongest. Especially since one of his devil fruits nullifies other devil fruits. The problem is that the people calling him the strongest have no idea Imu even exists.

Anyone with a working brains knows Shanks is stronger.Just because he lost an arm doesn't make him weak.Just because someone doesn't hold a title doesn't make said person the strongest person in the verse.Peoole can look at white beard and Kadio who both lose to shanks.
