Speaking of Merlin, Servants with Independent Manifestation in general not only can be sustained without any other source, they get to keep their memories between summonings and can outright ignore unsummonings. Not to mention that they can appear whenever and wherever they wish. It is a Beast Candidate Skill, though, but there's a reason it's cracked

Grail is act like ignitor in engine, after it start running , it's no longer needed , only constant flow of mana to maintain.

They still need the grail, since the grail is used to lessen the burden of having a servant summoned, illya summoned Heracles like 1 month before the war, and she was in pain supporting his existence, and he wasn’t even moving, straight up restrained to prevent extra mana cost, and she’s basically a mana factory by magus standards at that.

I'm curious,how much information is available on imaginary numbers cause all I know is tiamat is sealed in one when she isn't summoned and a descendent of Morgan le fay used it to keep her decapitated head alive by sealing herself, and I feel like this magic might be stronger than true magic and rival the high conceptual magic's in the verse. The person I think of is Sakura who would have been unbeatable in HF if her potential with imaginary numbers was discovered and maximized

One of the reasons I don't like Astolfo is because, after surviving the grail war he gets to stay manifested in a physical body. Meanwhile all the characters that I like to die.

Now here comes other question. Am curious to know why Gil wasn't turned into an alter considering he drowned in the Grail mad.

Good question. My take on it is the greater one does not understand the nature of something the greater power it has over an opponent. Considering how mages want to keep magecraft secret because if too many knew it would become weaker. (Just my idea though from what i have seen)

In the fate world, there’s many ways to become a servant, the easiest way is to have enough people think or believe in you, might turn you into a god tho, and noble phantasm can be anything as long as it can do something magical, not even capping on that.

@@Forsakenrulera noble phantasm is just a crystallization of a Heroic Spirit’s legend. Eg if you become a famous sword wielder your sword would become a noble phantasm. Basically if you become a heroic spirit a famous item or event in your legend becomes a Noble Phantasm

@@Forsakenruler the original lore for reality marble is just having a soul opposing the natural order and the ability to manifest it into the world (which is why the only things that could really have one were Dead Apostles or Aliens). That might have been retconned. All we know about True Magic is that you need to touch the root. We don’t have any idea how to other than the 3rd magic from the Greater Grail from Fuyuki but that just re-unlocks an already found True Magic

No. Melusine is a Lostbelt servant, The reason she can be summoned is because Chaldea has a copy of her Saint graph while they are in the Lostbelt. That's also the reason why some Lostbelt servants like Oberon, Godjuna or Skadi can be summoned is because Chaldea has scanned their saint graphs.

So in fate einherjar we may be able to se astolfo again

I can't speak on every iterations, but as much as UBW Good ending is conceptually a guilty pleasure of mine - that and HF Good Ending make zero sense. After the war is over the Grail no longer supports maintaining a servant (like it does throughout the war). We know this because the Einzberns hacked the system and summoned Berserker early which caused immense, crippling, pain for just existing and somehow even more unbarable anytime he moved. If Illya could hardly hang on after modifications to help do that - then no way is Rin or Sakura doing it. I don't care if there are two people 'supporting' the servants. No way.

I can partly believe it because there is a large difference between Saber's situation and Heracles. I would not find it suprising if being a berserker naturally cost much more mana due to the all round stat buff they gain, on top of Heracles already being a top tier servant.

We have also zatanna, shazam and dr fate as caster or ruler for shazam and dr fate, Constantine as either caster or pretender, etrigan as berzerker, green arrow as archer with assassin skills like Robin hood, martian manhunter and hawkgirl (depending of the incarnation) as foreigner

Nasu really wrote himself in a corner when he/she was asked about how Servants get used to foreign cultures and future conveniences and nomenclatures and he/she replied that "the Grail gives them all the info they need". Thank God Urobuchi did away with that and made it as though the heroes from the throne ACTUALLY behaved like that they were ripped from their own time/deathbeds and were placed in a world where you can travel between continents in the same timeframe it would take them to just go around a mountain. Right now Nasu is in their "Japan culture namba wan" phase (FGO) but hopefully they'll grow out of it soon and realize that they have heroes from all over the planet across a host of time periods and Japan is not the center of the universe nor is it unique.

Sometimes this also bugged me as well because nasu makes servants adapt so well to Japanese culture when many of them should disagree on certain things. I don't think it matters in the grand scheme of things but the interesting things that could've occured just because servant from the past encounters a modern day phenomenon would be so interesting. Just imagine a caster class servant contemplating what manner of magecraft a TV operates on for it to contain many small bounded fields or whatever. Or a saber class trying to cook via fore wood but the master stops them and I troupes them to a stove and microwave.
