Ya know what my headcanon is. He someway or somehow got shot by the omega effect (from dc comics) where shirou has to live on repeat these increasingly dark storylines. Either that or an intelligence that fought what shirou is supposed to be like went back in time and started screwing with his timeline to prevent him from getting his wish. The grail got corrupted or a dark corrupting force plagued multiple competitors (illyia and sakura) driving them to madness or to an abnormal state. One even corrupting many if not all but one servant. Erase all of that and you get one side. Illya rin shirou Sakura vs medea hiroto vs gilgamesh kotomine I didn't see Heavens feel so I don't know if kotomine still had cu culain. When you look at all of the interference and the fact the grain allowed the counter guardian a chance to correct history multiple times.

i just finished the fgo seraph interlude yesterday so this is good timing, i like how his character is twisted and fallen but emiya's core ideals still glimmer through him sometimes

I loved the visual of kintsugi on emiya alter. ULW is one of my favorite NPs too. Should also mention Unlimited Lost Works is an origin bullet, those are formed from LITERAL PIECES OF HIS RIBS!! Emiya alter is so broken that he literally forgets everything he does if he doesn't write it down. His body and mind are falling apart and he's held together only by his will. And every time he fights he literally loses another part of himself.

Well, but he can make Origin Bullets infinitely, no? His body is literally made of swords, so his ribs kinda regenerate. He can keep producing those, on an eternal cycle of breaking hinself and fixing, becoming a sword made for mindless killing. (my opinion)

I'm so glad you made this video because every time I would bring this man up, my friends would just ignore him. I have always said that the best way to understand this Shirou was to look at him when next to Archer. Archer is a Shirou who achieved all his dreams only to be betrayed by them, which later on, causes him to throw away his ideals whereas Alt, at least to me seems to have been betrayed by his dreams long before he ever could achieve them which lead him to abandon them just like Archer which, at least in my opinion is what separates the two.

I love the fact that you're uploading more often this year. Every video has been straight fire. This man does not miss!!!

Finally, it is Pucci's turn.

I really like the character, from his history to his design, everything was thought out. Therefore I wanted to get him when he came to NA, but then they had to "brighten" him up...He looks even brighter than EMIYA now so it feels like a spit in the face of the character🙁

@infinitezion2029 Darius is Persian, Heracles is Greek. These two characters would be tan, maybe a bit lighter for Heracles. But from my assumption, the Berserker Class and whatever they did must have caused them to be dark skin when summoned.

Ive personally always been of the mind that Emiya Alter isnt even the same shirou from stay night, but rather a version of Extra's Emiya. Extra's shirou was established to be sort of like a softer kiritsugu until one day something changed to make people close to him grow scared of him. Considering emiya alter encountered Kiara at some point, its possible thats the change that happened to extra shirou that caused him to grow colder and more detached, eventually becoming the degraded Demiya

You know i can just see alt emiya on the ground dying thinking about his life and just before he saves sakura he recites a new chant. "I am the bone of my sword. Known to death and life. My mind is steel, my heart is shattered glass. I've winessed hell time and time again. It is unchanging. Yet, my blades are made to protect those who cannot protect themselves. Therefore, i remain. Unliminted Bladeworks."

In FGO CCC event Kiria and Emiya did have a conversation with each other

All Shirou propers/alters did end up having some saviour complex in the end. Imagine if a version of him became the Grand Saber that swung a projected Excalibur against the white titan. Every time he swings it he dies, but Avalon ressurects him so he swings it again. Again and again until he breaks both mentally and spiritually, not knowing about anything else but to project and swing the sword over and over again, until the white titan finally dies. Shirou reaches heavens feel on his final swing and materialises himself into the real Excalibur (sheathed in avalon), which eventually gets passed down to King Arthur. And thus the cycle begins. Over and over again.... Turned out, Grand Saber was just the ideals we adopted along the way ;) Edit: If true I wish this would be Shirou from the Fate route. Emiya completed his duty as a counter gaurdian after what seemed to be an eternity of protecting pan human history. By materialising into Excalibur not only could Emiya be there and protect Artoria over and over again until the end of the universe, but also by reaching true magic allowed his soul to access Avalon and reunite with Saber at the end of the Fate route. This could also make Saber letting go of excaliber and meeting "Shirou" again poetic. Or somehow tie back into why Avalon gave immortality and invincibility, because it was Fate Shirou's Will to protect her and love her at all cost no matter what.

This video is great as always! I always enjoy watching you break down the Fate series which keeps me digging more down the type-moon rabbit hole for more lore and content. Emiya Alter is such a fascinating character, and I'm glad the FGO manga series is exploring his ideals and background within the context of the Extra series and SERAPH interlude. However, your video clearly summarized the long theory I was thinking about for a long time about Emiya Alter's existence and how he came to be, and now that I am about to watch the Heaven Feels movie despite the mini spoilers, the events that unfold in that route has convinced a lot that Alter's story possibly stared in one of Shirou's bad end sequence which not gonna lie got me for a loop, but it's a theory so we'll how it goes from there.

So fun fact his material has him talk about Taiga/Jaguar Warrior and mention a child.

@@bimoprasetyo6862 It was vaguely mentioned in his Material Book. Sadly, his background is still a big mystery and there isn't much info about him, nor what harm he did to to Taiga and her child. All we have is this little line for Jaguar Warrior/Taiga to speculate, which implies he did something to them, but doesn't properly explain what "…You...., and your child-" But from the missing pieces we gathered, it definitely is something related to Kiara, and maybe killing (?) Taiga was the final nail in the coffin which sets him down to become Emiya Alter in this timeline. Which makes sense if this version of Emiya is really the byproduct of Mind of Steel ending

Reading the manga seeing taiga dying to shirou broke me honestly.

I havn't gotten to the Seraph chapter in FGO but I have seen the manga up to it's last update and I've always found so interesting they pair Ishtar/Rin and EMIYA Alter as they go through things and discover truths about what's going on. They both at least some inkling that their familiar and might have even know each other in the past and even haughty Ishtar getting moody and emotional like there's something she could have done differently to change the path EMIYA went down to make this version of him. Not to mention Ishtar supposed to be function as a guardian/enforcer put in place by B.B. like Rin would have been to Sakura as the Big Sister had things turned out differently.

From what I've seen, in trying to stop Kiara Sessyoin's cult, he committed numerous atrocities against the cult members, ultimately allowing him to reach, and subjugate, Kiara herself. In doing so however, he had violated so many taboos that he'd lost sight of what he'd originally set out to do, to be a Hero of Justice, and in the process, lost his way. Least, that seems to be the official lore. Far as I can see, he's also still considered a Counter Guardian, so perhaps this is a version of EMIYA that was deployed by the Counter Force to stop the threat that Kiara posed to the world and, while he succeeded, this corrupted his Spirit Origin to such a degree that it resulted in the Alter that we now have.

as someone who studied japanese culture and the language, i noticed a lot of the design inspirations you brought up in this video when he was first released in JP. i've always been fond of his design and think its one of the best in the entire series, despite being kinda hard to look at because its my boy Shirou (never catches a fucking break bro). its an absolute shame that NA censored him. good video!

Naw i was mad af when they censored emiya in the west but what pissed me off was how okay majority of the fan base in the west is still ok with the lolis wearing g-strings Jack, Wu, and Draco. But still hope one day they can make another variant of emiya-alter with better animations or give us both him and kiritsugu suit and tie costumes.

If not forced to by a governmental body most companies aren't gonna just change finished character designs.

Something that I'm pretty sure "fans" have done already and that a massive company could've done. Just as easier as bleaching Demiya. With the added fact of not messing with her established lore unilke Demiya, who has plot reasons for why he looks like he does, literally black skin and all.

I was super excited when they made the movies, even though I think they could have done a better job. My biggest complaints were the rain scene, not focusing on the significance, and the Nine Lives blade works or how they didn't articulate how using projection was like blowing up his brain.

Probably a stretch, it's funny that there would be an Alter variant of EMIYA in your analysis that would be a result of Heaven's Feel; which was the first exposure we, as reader's, had to Alter's because of the shadow. Alter Berserker, Alter Saber, and quite possibly Alter EMIYA.
