I'd say Gilgamesh stole the show, but I don't think it is technically possible to steal that which you already own. And considering that Gilgamesh owns all the treasure in the world, he definitely owns this series.

Something I've discovered doing music (rap specifically) is that while all the intricate ways you can twist a sentence to show off your writing skills is awesome and all, sometimes (most times, I'd argue) nothing beats a simple line delivered with just the right energy. "My dad can beat up your dad" is just such a line, delivered in just such a way. Beautiful.

I think he's even more Gilgamesh then canon Gilgamesh. Seriously he just oozes arrogant charisma and the VA's performance is spot on. Even noticed some references to his personal history. Plus hearing him just explaining his f**ked they are really sells that he's more than strong enough to back up his boasting and attitude

I mean of course Gilgamesh is basically the same he is the best thing ever after all(really the dislike towards humans is the closest to that and I just going to assume he means if this time because you the whole he died because of what he saw humans reach and he wanted them to do it) It really sell the he respects the hell that Hercules went lol you killed me like 20 times but I get up again because really that is just so Hercules, very human of him, aka being true to yourself one of the only things the King likes Other things being accepting hardship without really complaining, thinking for yourself and not blindly following anyone or anything and of course the respect of the willingness to put your very soul on the line

Gilgamesh yelling about how he almost died was probably the highlight of this episode for me.

@@typeouetco1626 Yeah, and adding context Lancelot is "just a guy" instead of a demigod. His madness enhancement is weaker, his master is pretty awful compared to Illya, he didn't have Godhand protecting him from all but the highest tier of weapons... Arguably, just from how much stuff Herc has over him, Lance-boy was putting him to shame during the dogfight even if that is mostly just Eternal Arms Mastery doing it's thing couple with a bit of Protection of the Spirits. It is indeed mainly about taunting/insulting Herc, but there is no denying it's pretty much the closest Archer Gil will get to complimenting a mongrel openly stealing his shit.

If anything you're just showing how much stronger he is, which is exactly the comparison that is being made. and he didn't "put gilgamesh to shame". Gilgamesh was playing around, lancelot wasn't instantly dying, that's all there is to it.

@@typeouetco1626 Knight of owner doesn't really counter GOB any more than just having a good melee weapon* NP to use to strike down the weapons. It does leave Zerkerlot with a lot more "ammo" in case his breaks but that is pretty much it. It's the Eternal Arms Mastery and insane stats Lancelot has that really let him keep his ground decently enough. Oh, and i was clearly talking about how Lancelot was putting HERACLES to shame with how far he got with so little resources by comparison. Especially considering that Gil wasn't even really trying all that hard against Heracles either

Officially Archer Gilgamesh doesn't have Sha Naqba Imuru, only Child Gil and Caster Gil do (or I should say only those two have been shown or stated to have it, he might but it isn't proven). And Enkidu isn't his Noble Phantasm, strictly speaking it's just like all the other ones inside his Gate of Babylon. It seems like it's his because of how easily he can control it, but that's just Enkidu being a bro.

The funny part is that in one of his works, Heracles broke the Prometheus chains, something similar to Enkidu's, so he is kinda of a natural counter to Gilgamesh's NPs.

Honestly he was being a bit of a drama queen about it. The guy's got B Strength and C Endurance, that's enough to take a hit or four from Berserker without glittering away. Plenty of time to keep pincushioning the cavalry class.

@@KalaamNozalys For additional context, said best friend was sent to him by the gods (no saints themselves) specifically because they wanted him to chill the fuck out and quite being such a dick. Like most things with Gilgamesh, it...*half* worked. Archer Gilgamesh is basically Gil's edgy teen phase - an edgy teen phase that lasted so long and was so intense it went down in literal legend as the ultimate edgy teen phase and altered the universe's laws, creating the Throne of Heroes. It also was not a good combo with the absolute and immense power he possesses, then or now.

I love how Gilgamesh's class literally being Gilgamesh got brought up

My own Head canon is that Heracles divinity as he transcended to Godhood is tied to his 12 labors. The second the twelve labors were up, so was his own divinity. At that point Enkidu is just God enhanced steel rather than the might that can chain the heavens themselves

Raw Strenght, Herecles broke the chains that bound Prometheus, a deity, and the chains were said to be indestructible, meaning that he kind of naturally counters Enkidu, just like Gigglemesh said.

I cannot wait for Shirou Vs Gilgamesh purely to see how Gilgamesh is portraid in it.

It's a call-and-response between the main character and her deceased mother, talking about the hardship the main character faced as a result of her mother's early death. There's some elements of the daughter blaming her mother for abandoning her, and the mother apologizing for not being there for her child, which sort of parallels Illya's relationship with Kiritsugu. Also, it's a straight banger.

@@Nony_Amous101 Yes and no? It could also be seen as a song for Berserker. He's the parent that failed his children and harbours guilt for that. While the song is certainly a catharsis for Ruby, it reflects the pain felt by her mother in ultimately failing her child, which is how Berserker is positioned. Ilya reflecting the grief of Ruby and Berserker reflecting the grief of Ruby's mother is pretty spot on. The best piece is that the relationship between Ilya and Berserker is a redemption of the trauma they've experience, and so while the relationship isn't a direct one like Ruby and her mother, its overall theme of trying to resolve family trauma is spot on to the relationship Ilya and Berserker have.

Love that Gilgamesh actually did a James Woods impression with his "going once, going twice".

@@zbubbles4126 Assuming that everything that comes from the gate is one Np, then he has the gate of Babylon, Ea, enkidu, and Sha Naqba Imuru. Those are the only Np unique to Gil. Everything else just comes from the Gates ability and technically belongs to other people.

Caster Gil just has the most emphasis on it because its what qualifies him as a grand servants candidate.

Amazing. Oh yeah I just realized that Lancelot actually did give Gilgamesh a lot more trouble then Heracles. Though in fairness Knight of Owner and Eternal Arms Mastery are an excellent counter to the Gate of Babylon and Berserker is the big guys worst class. Also Enkidu was kind of like a Homunculus so seeing Illiya dead would bring up some bad memories for Gilgamesh nice touch.

The thing with lancelot is that in their first fight in the novel, we are told gilgamesh was planning to throw 32 weapons at a time instead of 16. In doing so, there was no way for lancelot to resist but tokiomi made gil back off

Well, I'll be damned. You guys once again not only showed me a banger of a song but made me crack the biggest smile just seeing Gilgamesh being smug for 12 minutes straight. Its hilarious how most characters in this series are just themselves but their personalities are cracked up to 11 and they are free to act like goofballs here and there. This is how abridged series are supposed to be for the most part. Small changes and tweaks in their overall character, but most of the jokes comes from exaggeration of their base personalities. Amazing editing, incredible voice acting, perfectly fitted music and equally good jokes. As always, never stopping with impressing us! Now, here is the great quotes from this episode catalogue (Definitely not complete but enjoy the free copypastas): "Nah! They just blow people up. Good old Einzberns!" - The surprisingly accurate cannon description of the Einzbern. "Big axe engage?" - Homunculus of culture. "I see you brought your own bat, Berserker. I usually pin a comment clarifying something but I have nothing to clarify. You look nice today. Drink lots of water. EDIT: AHA. Found something. To those saying Gilgamesh technically has four NPs, please note that Ea is part of the GoB. I presume people's confusion is coming from assuming it's considered seperate, but its lore notes it as the gate's greatest weapon. As important and iconic as it is, it's just another weapon stored within the gate. Enkidu has existed seperately from the gate however. Also remember that what characters say and what's factual correct often diverge due to perspective. Our characters aren't reading from wikias. It would be stiffling if they were.

I like how Gilgamesh is really not different than in the original show it goes to show how perfect of a character he already was so cynical and egotistical. They just cranked that up to 11 and there's no difference he just wears it on his sleeve way more.

Tiny whisper of "Do I get to use the big axe?" followed by equally tiny "Yassssssssssss" Oh. Oh the delivery. Oh I laughed through almost the entire opening sequence.

she's not summonable in a normal holy grail war. FGO and Extella use different systems, and she techically count as "dead" in FGO because of Goetia. So it's actually accurate XD. Also, Scathach's gae bolg is not the best tool against divine servant. SHE is XD.

ENKIDU IS THE BEST TOOL!!! Also loved Gilgamesh in this episode. Refusing to let Shinji trash talk berserker' feeling that little bit of sadness while watching a Hamunculus die' "permitting" Shirou to speak in anger' and of course the references to Zero. Other than Gilgamesh putting so much emphasis in how Angra Mainyu corrupted Illya' stating the way Illya's need for a father was a perfect match for Betserker's need to make penance for killing his family' and ACTUALLY GIVING BERSERKER SPEAKING LINES! Seriously you guys are so brilliant and I can't even describe everything I loved about this episode in a single comment. Everything. I loved everything Honestly this is the best episode of UBWA so far. Seriously loved every single second of it. Thank you for making this amazing series and especially this episode.

Back when episode 5 came out I said I hoped they would abridge Heaven's Feel so Rider and Sakura could get more screen time. I need to extend that to Ilya and Gilgamesh now. Ilya because she deserves better. And despite now much I loved what a monster Gilgamesh was in this episode, that just means he deserves a fate much worse than what this route has to offer him.

the longer it takes for these episodes to come out the more i feel this series is going to be legendary like dbz abridged edit: I just finished the premiere and this was AMAZING like always

16:33 Really love this touch. Bothered me that Gilgamesh never drew any parallels between what he was doing here with what happened with Enkidu in his myth. Killing Illya the way he did should have made him uncomfortable in the main series.

It would've bothered him more but the ubw route was written when he was just used as a villain. The ubw anime tried to improve his characterization by alluding to his legend but, those details aren't that noticeable on first viewing.

I couldn't tell if Gilgamesh was actually scared or excited that he almost died! I love that it sounded like both! Can't wait for the Archer/Shiro fight, I was pleasantly surprised with this fight, and the music choice. Since this fight is somewhat tragic. You guys did a stellar job, as usual, of making it intense, funny, serious and awesome!

As strong as Gilgamesh is compared to most servants, there are things in Nasuverse that Gilgamesh most likely have a problem fighting such as the BEASTs, TYPEs or probably some Grand Servants at full power. As for Ea, while it is one of the strongest NP in terms of destructive capability, we know that it isn't unstoppable since Avalon was able to just block it, who knows there are probably other NP that might be able to slow or block it.

I love how some of the characters have some kind of weird connection to the modern world. - Artoria with the modern slang - Gilgamesh with quite a few Disney references - Archer with his weirdly specific actor reference - Atrum with killing orphans... wait...

I WAS NOT expecting freaking Red Like Roses Part 2 to play during this
