As someone who is an art and Film student: SAD-ist uses a lot of great camera angles that a lot of professional film makers use, In either animation and live action. She purposefully chooses music that has a lot of build up from the get go to get immediate attention from the viewer who is watching the animation/animatic. The music has a sense of emotion built into it so when the beat drops you are left in an awe. If you were to actually mute the music you would notice her base movements go in a one, two hit motion. She also uses a lot of like youtube transitions, when on paper seems corny but in the context of how she uses it, its a major advantage. I genuinely love SAD-st's work because she knows what she is doing from the music choice to the expressions she uses on the characters faces. edit: someone mentioned Ethan's video on Sad-sts animations and explanation, I actually did not view his video prior to this(comment) heads up (he says the exact same thing as I and finding that out was fuckin scary) I actually showed this to my animation teacher who gave me all this information about it (we has like a two-hour discussion after school explaining to me and a few others the facts I have) so if you want a more in-depth explanation please watch his video 8(I'm an overthinker and has been on my mind all day so I felt like I had to explain this bc I felt like I did something wrong so like, low key ignore this💀)*

some of the content creators have even said publicly that the way they did the lore of the dream smp dramatically changed after SAD-ists first dream smp animatic. they started to have the thought; "would this be good for an animatic/animation?", and started to realise that they could be taking it way more seriously than they were. so short answer; SAD-ist changed the way the content content creator themselves viewed the smp, and gave it way more meaning/depth.

Sadist honestly changed my life. Like, genuinely. I've been in the animation community for awhile now. I've watched Jaden, Odd1sout, animation memes, all that jazz. So of course, Sadist's animatics got shown in my recommended. I watched Dawn of the 16th, and that's what really got me into the fandom. I began watching Tommy's recaps and some of the streams, and then began making my own Dream SMP animatics, since I was already a bit of an animator myself before then. Sadist really showed me just how much you can do with an animation, and caused me to push myself and improve a ton. Even my animatics from 2 months ago pale in comparison to my current ones. And being someone who plans to animate as a career one day, that improvement is huge, and so important to my future. It's rare that a youtuber will ever leave a lasting impact on me, but Sadist really has.

"Dawn of 16th" is, and probably will always be, my favorite animation from her. It has some sentimental value for me because it was released around the same time as I joined the fandom and overall made me so interested in the smp. I also feel like it was the first one out of her animations that looked more professional and clean, of course her earlier ones looked amazing too but the Dawn of 16th just has that something that makes it looks so good. Without sad-ist I probably wouldn't be as interested in dream smp as I am now. She really has an impact on the fandom and the streamers, giving so much more depth on the story and the characters, and kind of gives a way to go back and remember what has been going on without needing to go through hours worth of streams.

A reason why I love SAD-ist’s work is how the music is incorporated, and with the recent ones, sound design. I love how she chooses nice color palettes for the scenes and how fluid everything is in their animation. While the current new one, Final Waltz, is coming up real close with my favorite, that number one (1) spot in my heart belongs to ‘The Fall’. I love all of her work but The Fall sparked something in me, and I know why- though the explanation is too long for a comment- Great video

Final Waltz just came out so there's that one as one of my favorites, although I also like the bloopers, Sunsprite's Eulogy, and Hog Hunt is just gold. I'll always love Hog Hunt (Passerine hit me in the feels too so Sunsprite's Eulogy will be hard to topple, and the way the bloopers switch from IRL to canon? Just perfect.) I literally just joined the Dream SMP a few months ago, I think it was March with TommyInnit's "Ressuration" or "Death." I saw on his Channel. Sad-ist has came across my dash in my Recommends like a few others have so, I was aware of her. And I saw a ton of FanArt that came across my dash on my Social Media with a few FanFictions and Theories every now and then. The Dream SMP was like that Fandom that was in the corner of your eye. You knew about saw, some of the characters, liked some of the art, commented "I know nothing about this fandom but this story is really intriguing!" That was the Dream SMP, then I decided to go down the Rabbit Hole and never regretted it! On of my favorites is the War and the Dawn of the 16th. IT was such a good vision of a Trailer that I just felt so captivated. Then Hog Hunt came out. I saw the Animation and the real scene and Sad-ist just really captured the characters so well!

It becomes really difficult to choose a favorite when they improve each time they upload an animation, not to mention each one elicits emotions specific to that part of the story in the DSMP, so they’re all important and stand out in their own ways. I guess I’ll do that thing where I default my favorite to the first one I ever saw because it’s what introduced me to their work. So, personally, that would be Dawn of the 16th. If I remember correctly, that animatic was uploaded either a few days before or after the big fight that took place in January, and I was still easing into the fandom itself. Let me say, their work absolutely blew me away. I couldn’t believe a small server of streamers playing a block game could be turned into such an astounding story-like piece of art 😅😊

I love sadist so much, just her animation just makes you go wow because of smooth and such great animation and lighting a movements, everything about her is just great, and if I think about it she was the reason why I started watching Dsmp, the first animation of the dsmp made me want to watch them and every since then I’ve been watching them non stop

my favourite animation by far is sunsprite eulogy the emotion, the fight animations, choice of song, character design, how she envisions the scenes are just perfect. it made me cry actual tears and i could watch that again and again forever. i hope she becomes a big shot in the industry one day she truly is so talented. i admire her so much it’s amazing honestly.

This has nothing to do with the video , but something SAD-ist came up with was actually worked into cannon , that being that Phil used his wings to block L'manburg's explosion , saving him and Wilbur , that being the reason he doesn't have wings now.

Sadist also got in at a time when there was so few dsmp animatics. I remember when there was only like 20 max hamilton animatics, so seeing this amazingly paced animatic that had the actual sound edited in was absolutely mind boggling. Still remember the first time I watched it vividly lol

Did you guys know sadist started dreams iconic mask? before the dream smp was a thing and dreams character started being drawn sadist had that mask except it was a sad face. and when she made that first dream animation she used the design she already used for her own character(the mask) and just made it a smile so it works for dream

I love Hog Hunt, but I think my favorite SAD-ist animatic has to be War. I only started watching the dream smp because of the War animatic. It was just interesting enough that I started diving into the lore and appreciating the story. If I hadn't gotten that in my recommended, I would have never noticed the dsmp was even a thing. I was lucky enough to join in right after the Election, to see the buildup to the Manburg war and the fateful events of Nov 16th. And I saw it all just as cinematic as SAD-ist had portrayed it in War. If it wasn't for War, I wouldn't have gotten back into writing either, and I wouldn't have found the friends that I have from the fandom. That one animatic connected a lot of people, and sparked a lot of incredible things. SAD-ist is almost a member of the dsmp in my eyes, even without being a streamer. The animatics are so... so important to the story, so... canon is the only word I can think of.... that without them, the story wouldn't be nearly as engaging. The channels that compile the lore like Story of the Dream SMP series are great, but they don't capture the emotion of the moment, they don't really push the story to its limits like SAD-ist does. SAD-ist's attention to detail is so incredible that those animatics are, in many people's mind, the definitive version of events in the dsmp. And I think that's both incredible and completely deserved.

as a dreamsmp/mcyt fanartist/animator sadist is one of my biggest inspirations. her animatics inspired me to attempt dreamsmp animatics even before i learned to draw humans (i never finished any of the animatics from before starting to draw humans, and for anyone wondering i used to draw them as cats)

My favorite just has to be Hog Hunt. That scene of Techno surviving his own execution- that isn't just an animation, that is a masterpiece. Carefully crafted and molded into absolute perfection. Besides that beautiful 2 second clip, it has other iconic moments such as "I choose blood!" and "I have a pickaxe, and I'll put it through your teeth." which are portrayed quite well. It also has a lot of neat little details hidden within- the expressions on Phil's face as Techno is placed below the anvil, Ranboo's hesitance to fight, etc. Just... wonderful.
