    I now shoot with the XH2s and GFX100s (100 ii is on the way). While I've tried other brands for extended periods of time, rather than adding a full frame, I added a fuller frame with the medium format. There's just something about their ecosystem that makes me want to create, and I honestly spend less time editing

    I recently visited my camera-nut mate who I'd "turned-on" to Olympus. I clapped eyes on his Fuji XT1...I had to have one. I now do, im using vintage Olympus Zuiko lenses and an XC 35MM...immensely enjoyable. My Olympus EM10 feels like a bit of a toy in comparision. Its the ease of manual/exposure triangle access that is so compelling. Stick on a vintage Zuiko 50mm f1.8, manual focus, and its analogue photography without the processing hassle.

    I switched from Sony to Fujifilm a few years ago and never looked back...and yes its because they are cool as sh1t! Seriously though they are awesome cameras, i love the colour profiles and just the colour and images in general that the cameras produce and ive had an Xpro3 and now an Xt4 and they have just completely changed the way i shoot. I definitely take alot more time composing shots and i think we'd all be lying if there wasnt an essence of "pomp" when we're out there shooting on a Fuji camera :D Great video tho made me laugh, but yeah regardless of the whole hipster stigma, they are just great cameras to shoot on, the sexyness of them is just a bonus! 😅

I like these because of the small retro bodies that are weather sealed. I did a wedding dress fitting a few weeks ago and one of the employees asked me if Olympus is a new camera company 😢😢 But yeah I hardly use any of the features or video and basically photograph like it’s film. But I do like using the in camera handheld high resolution mode on the om5 for 50 megapixel shots. It’s just 12 seconds for it to make the photo.

How much does the Fuji Film Camera cost? At one time there were 2 giants in real film and that was Fuji and Kodak. What happened to Kodak?

    I have a theory on my Fujifilm cameras are becoming more and more popular. There's three things about them. They appeal to Young hip people who want to feel retro. They appeal to the people that came from the retro era people who are like 45,55 and 65 so that covers a very broad age bracket. Okay, let's talk about the photos because essentially, yep they are cameras so people love the film simulations for the reasons I mentioned above they've become trendy again. They also relatively easy use friendly cameras and this is a major plus. There is also something about the Fiji film. Community. The simulations are part of that or recipes as people call them and this is another plus for Fujifilm. The cameras are actually affordable too. All around the world. You could buy a secondhand XT3 and take wonderful photo straight off the bat. You could buy an EX3 or an EX2 Wright up until the flagship XT fives and so on, or even a GFX camera which are beautiful cameras as well. I think they cater for every budget. But the smaller Fujifilm cameras pack a punch for their size. You can pick a secondhand one up for four or $500 chuck a couple of lenses on it, and you good to go for 1000 bu there's not many camera brands that can do that right now. You can't buy a Nikon camera for $500 unless you buy an old DSLR that barely works. You can't buy a decent cannon for 500 bucks, but you can't Fujifilm

  • @mikafoxx2717

    I do think you're wrong about the other cameras though, you can buy a canon 6D, 5D MKIII, RP, Nikon D600/610, almost d800, early sony A7 series. All very capable systems with great specifications. I could find maybe a Fuji XT-1 for that kind of price here. XT-2 if you're going up to a cheap used d800 budget. I've tried a Fuji X100 and XT-4 and although they're good feeling cameras, I prefer a DSLR. Bonus for Canon, Nikon, Sony, is you can just natively use old lenses from the mount on them. I use a 1987 EF lens on my 6D.

    the reason I shoot Fujifilm isn't for the hipster looks or the retro dials... They make the camera nice to look at, but I don't even use them (and my X-H1 doesn't exactly look like a film body does it) No, the real reason why I decided to go with Fujifilm is because it's probably the only brand that gives a single fuck about the APS-C format. I know I don't need full frame, since I still have a full frame camera (kept my Nikon D700, can't get rid of it). I don't need crazy high megapixel count, but I like to shoot my lenses wide open. Problem is, with full frame if you do that you'll end up with super shallow depth of field which is overused and I personally don't like it. Not mentionning the fact that in general, full frame lenses are big and expensive. APS-C format cameras in other brands like Canon, Nikon and Sony is generally here to be a an entry point in the brand for people that don't ahve the means to get a full frame camera from the get go. They don't care about the lenses, they don't care about the camera bodies that generally end up at the "hobbyist" segment (exception made of the Canon R7) and they don't provide you good lenses, or if they do it's very few. They expect you will want the better lenses so, that you'd invest in full frame glass for their cameras... and once you're there, you have the glass, why not go full frame, eh? Fujifilm cameras aren't better than let's say Sony or Canon APS-C cameras. They're prety comparable. But Fuji doesn't have a full frame line to push you towards. Their GFX system is 100% incompatible with the X system and is targeted towards completely different people. And when you're in the X system, the only way you can go is higher within it. So no need to hold back punches for camera specs, and most importantly, lenses. Olympus / Panasomnic also have dedicated crop glass, but it's for the MFT mount / sensor size which I'm not the biggest fan of (for the longest time it was because of the lack of good autofocus). Fujifilm has the sensor format I want, with the dedicated glass to take full advantage of the smaller sensor size without falling into the traps of pushing you towards a larger format within the same lens mount. When it comest to Fujifilm, I came in for the camera bodies (that had the right features that I wanted at the right price : X-T2 that has double SD slots, good image quality in photos and videos, weather sealing, joystick, lots of buttons and a huge viewfinder for 400€? Yes sir.), but ultimately stayed for the lenses. Even if right now I would have the means to switch to full frame. I just don't see the point in doing so.

  • @mikefoster6018
    @mikefoster60189 ай бұрын

    The only thing I don't love about my Fuji set-up is that Fuji zooms (including my beloved 16-55mm) don't really come wider than f2.8. And f2.8 is in a weird spot on crop sensors, neither providing much background blur (except when fully zoomed in) nor working well in low light. As a result - and this is where I make my case for middle class lives like mine deserving more sympathy - I may find myself lugging a 33mm f1.4 prime in addition to my 16-55mm. Having to swap between them takes time (also known as money) and dust flies into the sensor because my X-T5 doesn't have one of those nice sensor shields. These are issues that upper class people, who buy full frame f2.8 zooms that work great, simply don't have to face.

  • @adamblack9837

    @adamblack9837

    9 ай бұрын

    That’s why I plumped for adapting small fast primes instead of getting the bigger native lenses. The Fuji f2 primes are nice and small but the faster ones are considerably bigger. Plenty of small fast primes from the likes of Minolta and Canon etc. and focusing manually is a breeze with focus peaking. As for wide lenses faster than 2.8, I don’t think this is exclusively a Fuji problem. It’s more a case of physics. To get a wide lens faster than 2.8 the diameter of the lens would have to be huge. Plus you’re not likely to get decent bokeh on a wide lens anyway. Bit of a pain if you need some extra stops in low light be them’s the breaks I suppose.

    @@adamblack9837 I tested my 33mm f1.4 today and, weirdly, for all the differences, I gone of my favourites is simply how it protrudes out to my side far less than the big 16-55 when I'm walking with the camera in my hand. It's lovely. I'm not constantly fearing it going KLAAAANNGGGG into something/someone on my street walks. Lovely. One of your even stubbier lenses would be even better in that regard.
