Why Ramaphosa should veto the race-quota Employment Equity Amendment Bill (EEB) | IRR Press Briefing

The IRR has officially launched a petition calling on President Ramaphosa to veto the race-quota Employment Equity Amendment Bill (EEB) on the basis that it is unconstitutional.
The EEB will allow the Minister of Employment and Labour to “set numerical targets for any national economic sector”, including “targets for different occupational levels, sub-sectors or regions within a sector” to achieve “equitable representation” at “all occupational levels in the workforce”.
In this recent press briefing, the IRR warned that if the Employment Equity Amendment Bill becomes a reality, South Africa’s unemployment rate will rise to exceed 50% on the expanded definition.

Well if the Government believe this to be a good idea, then they not thinking too well. Its about time we held back our taxes to SARS and deposit into an approved fund controlled by an elected qualified group of the Tax payers. Then the projects can be done through selected and competent companies suitable and nominated by the Tax payer group.

The "success" of this bill depends on the co-operation of businesses. Unfortunately the BEE cancer has already eaten into many Corporate structures. What consumers should do ( and this includes inter-business transactions ) is to avoid purchasing or supporting BEE compliant businesses.

Large corporations implement BBEEE agressively, good luck finding employment in a big corporation if you're a minority. Unless you have rare skills, you have almost no chance. Thats why BBEEE is still a thing and thats why EEB will be implemented too.

Thank you, IRR, though does the govt even hear your insights? I fear you're preaching to the choir...? The ANC don't allow reason, rationality or reality to get in the way of their glorious ideology! 🤦

Ramaphosa is very unlikely to have reservations about the constitutionality of the bill. He is the ultimate racist. Upholding racism is his delight. He would rather have an incompetent state than racial equality. He stands for BEE and white disadvantage, black elitism and white restrictment.

Your statement is so true. However, it is also an accurate description of what was the evil system of Apartheid. As long as the people of South Africa remain obsessed with race and nationalism; minorities and majorities, we are doomed.

@@argentnexus7129 the people of SA in general are anything but obsessed with race and land; but the ANC is definitely obsessed with both.

@@janetstead7032 I respectfully disagree. There is a ridiculous focus on both sides with regards to race. It is just that the perspectives are different. The land issue is a bit more complex, the only thing that is certain is that arbitrary EWC is morally and Constitutionally wrong. Also, the idea that ALL land should belong sto the state is absurd and corrupt.
