Why Purple Became The Colour Of The Royals | Worst Royal Jobs

Tony Robinson looks into the worst jobs in history with a rundown on the worst royal jobs. As Tony takes on the work traditionally done at court we learn of the miserable lot of food tasters, whipping boys, falconers, and laundry women who beat Elizabethan laundry with paddles similar to cricket bats.

Obtaining dye for color Purple, took thousand of snails to obtain small amt. dye, so King keep the dye narrowed down to only royalty. (deplete snails if all use, for few people can use color, which was over 10,000 small snails in those times, find, experiment, explore, discover so much over centuries that gave us what we have today). Along years, man discovered how to make the color by mixing other colors=blue + red is one ). These historians get carried away with finding, filming, talking and forget the topic??

John 19:23-24 "And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.” 24 They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. It was covered over by scarlet. However, Mark 15:17 and John 19:2 say it was a purple robe. These refer to Christ's own robe and the one placed on Him. Tyrian purple was already the colour of the Roman Empire. I guess the main reason is that the colour was only affordable for the Rich, since the process of extracting the dye from seashells was prerogative to few connoisseurs. However, the affiliation you made is also noteworthy! Jesus was clad in purple before the crucifixion. Just as they put the crown of thorns on his head, in the same way the Roman soldiers were mocking his "alleged" sovereignty.
