Why people with ME/CFS Fibromyalgia POTS often need more than solely Mind-Body Approach

Understanding the connection between triggers and ANS dysfunction is key to tailoring our recovery approach for ME/CFS, Fibromyalgia, POTS or MCS.
I try to explain why that is in this short snippet of an interview with @raelan.agle that was all about onset triggers.

It is longterm magnesium deficiency that causes the body both to misbehave and for it to be unable to resolve the infection. The body absolutely cannot repair ANY tissue in a state of magnesium deficiency because when it triggers healthy inflammation to heal, what happens instead is tons of calcium gets dumped in the tissue since you literally cannot even keep calcium dissolved in your bloodstream without magnesium. Correcting magnesium deficiency gradually heals every square inch/centimeter of your body in a way medicine cannot even hope to do. Until you correct mag deficiency and break down the physical barriers that limit blood flow, anything helpful you put into your bloodstream such as anti-parasitics or anti-inflammatories will not even get to where it needs to go.

I do take some magnesium on and off. I just don’t want to be running to the bathroom all the time. It’s common for Fibromyalgia patients to be deficient in magnesium. I have found, too, that if I am having any anxiety, taking magnesium will dissipate it in about 15-20 minutes. It just seems to melt away. This has been a huge help for me. I lost my mother this past year and was there helping her. I take Magnesium Glycinate which is easier for the body to absorb. I was aware of the other things you mentioned….thank you for that information!!

💯 correct ✅ It’s an important point. But it’s not the only factor in the cause of CFS/ Fibromyalgia.

7/11/2023…..I found that the Epstein Barr Virus was at the root of my Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I had chronically reactivating EBV since 1995 until about three years ago. The first thing EBV goes after is one’s adrenals. Mine were shot! I’ve also had Fibromyalgia since 1995….after I had a full hysterectomy. I found that I was highly allergic to cats that were at my house for a few months. Cats had to go and my HMO doc at the time said I had bronchitis and treated me for nine months with no improvement. No, I had full blown asthma. I was horizontal most of the time with no energy to speak of. Over the years I learned about Low Dose Naltrexone through my research and started it in 2011 and had improvement with my pain and Fibro Fog. I found an awesome integrative medicine doctor. He prescribed the LDN. I also researched ozone therapy and found it can suppress viruses, kill Lyme Disease, parasites, infection, bacteria, fungus, support the immune system, detox the body, etc. I bought my own medical ozone generator and did treatments from my home at least twice a week. I felt better along the way and got to a negative test for EBV in 18 months. My integrative medicine also put me on an adrenal supplement with bovine in it and I took that for 18 months to get my adrenals back on track. I haven’t had a crash now in over three years.

Congrats! And thank you for sharing your recovery approach. How did you administer the ozone? I've heard of using it with a portable sauna, drinking it, ear insufflations, and rectal insufflations. (I don't think I'd be able to tolerate either of the first two, but the last two I could.)

Your adrenals were shot because they had literally mineralized or turned to plaster over time. It can and will happen to any organ over time when you have even mild longterm magnesium deficiency. This is fully reversible. Any surgery whatsoever will worsen these symptoms if you have surgery while magnesium deficient because any tissue will scar rather than heal when you're mag deficient!

Thank you for sharing. I'm still struggling. Symptoms started 18 years ago, gradually got worse, particularly 4 years ago after (like you), hysterectomy. Adrenals also completely shot. Dr Lam has helped a lot - but I have toxic liver and inflammation and now I've got worse due to my allergy trigger. I've been allergic to birch pollen for 18 years now. Antihistamines no longer help. For the past 5 years the only solution was to wear an allergy mask, wrap around sunglasses and hat during allergy season. This year, despite all these measures and extreme care, I had multiple crashes and 4 months later I still haven't got back to pre-allergy season levels of cfs😢
