I got a second job at Dunkin Donuts on the night shift. I actually really enjoyed it, because it was so chaotic, with drunk people coming in when the bars close and weird people who really needed a doughnut at three in the morning. The reason I quit was that they had roaches everywhere, and they only cleaned the counters (including where the food was prepared for breakfast sandwiches) by wiping it off with a cloth that was wet with water only. They didn't use any cleaner and just wiped everything with the same cloth, and I didn't even know how long that cloth had been smearing its way along the dirty counters. There wad doughnut stuff, egg, bacon, bagels, etc. remains just wiped all around with the roaches with this one cloth. By the end of the night, I wanted to just smack the doughnut out of people's hands and tell them how dirty it probably was and that I wouldn't be surprised if their were roaches in them. I was later told by someone who went their to eat (not knowing) that they had seen a rat in the store as well, and I didn't doubt it. A few weeks later, I took a job in environmental services (janitorial) at our local hospital, cleaning and sanitizing every office and patient area. I think, that night at DD inspired me to do it.

At my last job we had someone quit in 15 mins. They interviewed him. Hired him. Brought him in. Showed him around our very nice offices. Introduced him to the three of us ladies in the department. He excused himself to the bathroom and never came back. Our IT guy checked the cameras. He quick walked from our office to the mens room. Was in there for about 15 mins. And then came out looking all sweaty and bolted straight for the door. We pretty much came to the conclusion that he shit himself and was too embarrassed to explain. He never answered any emails, calls , or texts. So he quit by default.

Checkers 🍔 in my metro area Orlando FL, litterly has ads saying how staff gets paid everyday or every 24hr for each 8hr shift. so they have such little faith they just say: f&^÷ it get $ when you can. PS my friend in Penn Hills PA, had a local Taco Bell near his house that shut down 🏚 because mgmt could not hire-train hourly workers.

Before the line managers took over, our big boss did interviews for an open position in our office. She hired this woman who instantly went on sick leave before she started the job. Turns out that she has really bad sciatica and sitting down for long periods of time (which is what we do) would be impossible for her. Once her sick leave had ended, she went on it again. She was interviewed knowing it was a sitting down office job that did not benefit her medical issue, was trained up on our system, had her brand new work email set up and everything. She never once came into the office. We only knew this woman by her name alone. When it became very obvious that she was never going to come in and was just going to keep going on sick leave, big boss had to encourage her to resign.

I got one for you. I'm a support worker and among those I support is a lovely woman with complex needs (autism, bi-polar, non-verbal, severe learning disability). She is a joy to be around but you also, understandably, have your work cut out. Over the years, she has displayed destructive behaviours (they have pretty much gone now) and it was in my first or second year of working that this newcomer was shadowing (following an experienced staff member around, getting shown the ropes etc). Anyway, the service user in question had been on quite a destructive streak and began to rag on this heated towel rack/radiator in the bathroom. Now when she wants to, she will see things through to completion and display a crazy amount of strength when in that frame of mind (seriously, it's fascinating in a way). She managed to pull this radiator from the wall. No sooner had this occurred, the newcomer bolted over the stable door that separated her apartment from the staff room and ran for the exit. Never seen again, well not by me anyway.

We had a new hire quit on the first day. Admittedly it was a pretty busy and crazy day at the front desk if the Dr's office, especially since we had to keep stopping to explain things. Lots of patients, many of them new, and the phones were ringing off the hook. She was overwhelmed and I don't remember if she waited until lunch to say the job wasn't for her. I do remember that she drank three cups of extra-caffeinated coffee, so she was probably seeing auras around everything.

I quit at an Infiniti dealership in Bellevue Washington after 1 day. The shop was a clusterfuck, the salespeople were dirtbags, and the guy that was supposed to train my said straight to my face he had "anger issues" and we weren't going to get along. I made it very clear to him I wasn't going to take any shit from him, anger issues or not. I finished out my day, and never went back.

I did contract security for a few weeks part time at a car dealership in Orlando Orlando.gov mid 2010s. I was surprised how some sales staff, crew seemed inept, crass, impolite. The car dealer VP in charge of security was a D-bag & made a effort to screw me, others up except for 1 female security guard who worked there 4-5yr. The client once called the property alarm service, shut off 2 or 3 alarms prior to my post but NEVER told me or my company manager. I left that place after about 4 weeks.

When I was in my mid 20's (mid 90's) I had a job at a check processing center working the mailroom. I decided to get a part time job at a local Blockbuster Video. Worked a 4 hour shift just so I could learn the basics and did pretty good. The manager comes to me and gives me my schedule. Had me set up to work full time 40 hour shift. I told him that I was hired on for part time evenings and he told me that I was hired on for full time. I ended up quitting that night only cause the other job was unlimited hours for 5 days a week plus a 4 hour shift on Saturdays. Wasn't goanna give up a job with a shit load of overtime for a 40 hour job. Besides the store got closed up a few months later so I think I made the right decision.

If I'd started my current job now, I probably would have quit on my first day. When I actually started, there were 4 managers and 2 owners who were reasonably involved with everything, and spoke with all of their staff. Now there are 2 managers and 2 owners that I maybe see once a week and never speak to. I have also pretty much become the manager of the bar, with neither title nor pay nor training, because the previous bar manager allowed himself to be poached along with the assistant general manager to go open up a new hotel.

When I worked in a machine shop that made engine parts, we had this kid who was a new hire. While running a part, he broke a drill off in the spindle. In this place, whenever you had an accident resulting in material damage you had to go to the front of the building and wait for a driver who would take you to the clinic for a urinalysis test. When the supervisor told him this he picked up his bag and said “I’m sorry man, I couldn’t pass a pee test now,” and he walked out and never returned.

It was 6 hours tops when she quit. Came in the first day just to show her around etc for 5 hours and 30 minutes. She shows up the next day, was clocked in for 30 minutes when I told her I'll be right back to use the restroom, come back out to see her walking out with the manager. I was assuming she was getting something from her vehicle, but when she stepped, the manager turned around asking me. "What you do?" "Nothing. I told her I was using the restroom." Said she didn't like her help going unappreciated.

Technically it was my third day. And I (17F) don’t even like to call if a job. I was “working” for an old guy (maybe in his mid-60s) at a dry cleaner. The building was like 200 years old and the basement was a literal dungeon. He told me that I’d be working completely alone when training was complete and that sent my anxiety up the wall. Also he never mentioned paying me. And I never got a straight answer to any of my questions. So I texted him that the job wasn’t for me and that was that. His girlfriend seemed nice, but she looked to be barely 10 years older than me.

Not Day One, but more like Week One. (Yeah.... I was the one who quit) I very briefly worked as a pharmacy technician in training since I needed the extra money. I initially interviewed at a particularly famous drug store chain as a cashier, but I guess the hiring manager liked me so much she offered me a pharmacy tech position. I didn't know anything about the medical field, or what I'd be getting myself into, but was told I'd be offered paid training, plus it paid a dollar more an hour than a cashier position. Since I needed the money I very quickly said yes. Keep in mind, I already had a full-time job and since I'd typically go here right after, I would always be exhausted. I was also scheduled to work that Saturday on an 8-hour shift. My coworkers seemed quite cliquey, and didn't really like outsiders that much. (Keep in mind, I was still waiting for my scrubs to come in). One day, one of them very rudely asked me "UMM CAN I HELP YOU?!" like she was from Mean Girls. It actually got to the point where I dread coming into work, and I was still in training. But I think what made me throw in the towel was one day when I was shadowing that same girl I mentioned. She was ringing up this really sweet old lady (didn't look any younger than 70...) and definitely gave off sweet grandma vibes. The other pharmacy tech just blatantly told her that her insurance would no longer cover her medication, so it went from $20 to $400 or something insane like that. I actually saw the old lady's face break and slowly frown. She didn't go "Karen" mode or anything, but she just despondently gave my coworker her credit card and rang her up at full price. I didn't think I'd feel this bad for some random, sweet elderly lady, let alone feel like I would cry, but here I was. The worst part was my coworker didn't seem to care too much- almost like she was desensitized. It was then I texted the pharmacist in charge, telling him I couldn't do it anymore. I don't regret it.

1:00 In high ranking auto repair, you have to have a huge toolbox, and usually you pay a tow truck to get it to the repair shop. I do find this moron's story funny, if you can't find where a part is located, every repair shop has a manual in the computer, complete with drawings of where those things are. He must have been really high on something illegal. DIY-ers with a little bit of skill can replace a thermostat and drink a few beers at the same time, in most cases. Some cars can be weird and annoying, this doesn't apply to all of them. 4:10 Well, maybe he left some fake information before committing an inside job. If the company didn't do a background check or hadn't yet entered his data into the system, maybe he got away with that trick. 14:55 Malicious compliance: So I used piss jugs and left them in really inconvenient places for the boss. 15:52 I love when people can afford to leave an unethical workplace. I worked at so many auto repair shops where lifts didn't function properly. We were still stuck using them. If people could afford to leave, that would be fun to watch. 18:04 Amazing how quickly jobs know what you are worth once you are gone. Maybe pay good workers right and promote them regularly. That price might be cheaper than downtime from being understaffed, or paying recruiters to find new people. No, companies think they can milk every last cent from employees. Working in auto repair, I often saw this. Such companies would not bother to maintain their vehicles properly. They would put it off and pay big fat preventable repair bills as a result. Plus, they would have the cost of extra vehicle downtime. 20:53 That really sucks, HR should have fired at guy and bought her a restraining order. Stalkers suck. When did he arrive in your country? Some people have no idea how bad stalking is.

Okay this was a few months ago. Picture this: 16 yo girl. First ever job. Hard of hearing with other disabilities. Employment place: taco bell. Very very short staffed. Hiring manager could never find time to meet with me. Finally met with me after 3 weeks of "oop we are too short. Come tomorrow". I get hired for $15/hr 2nd day in my coworker asks me to do something with a burrito that I didn't know how to do. She begins cussing me out and storms out. Other coworkers just say "yeah don't mind her". Anyways I start getting so stressed that I start sleep talking and throwing things in my sleep. 1½ weeks in: >5 minutes into my shift old lady and crusty white dog walk into lobby >we can't serve her bc lobby is closed (we don't know how she got in) >she walks through the drive through ... >I spill 2 large Baja blasts onto a customer ... >blanked after a guy hands me a $100 and forget to hand him his change >can't get back into register without manager code ... >really really big $100+ online order comes through. Line cooks don't make the meal >manager cusses me out bc I didn't tell him about the mobile order that was on his screen >I run into the bathroom crying and quit

I'm kinda there today. I'm a doctor in india. Typically, a shift for duty doctor lasts 6 hours in daytime, and 12 hours at night. And the salary in north india is usually around 100,000 per month. In south india, it's lower at around 40-45k per month. My last job was 9am to 4pm, and I was making 40k per month. I went for an interview today. And the offer was. 25k per month. For a 12 hour day shift. 8am to 8pm. I can start going tomorrow morning, but I don't think I will. The hospital is 25km away from home. So I'd have to get up at 6am and go. And I'd reach home, freshen up. And immediately sleep, because I need 8 hours of sleep. Almost half the salary for double the work compared to my last job. No thanks.

I worked in a restaurant that was horible place. We had some people coming, they started working and after one or two hours they would quit. I lasted a month and half there. I couldn't take their noncence and interfearing in my private life anymore. So I quit. My friend had a neighbour whose son started working as help in a car mechanic shop. The first day he came they asked him to pass them one wooden support plank that they used to put under the van that they were fixing at that moment. And they had too many cars on the repair pitt.(I dont know how you call it, english is not my first language, we call it the canal) So he went, took one plank from under the van that they were fixing and that was on a place where the front is on some ramp so the plank is under the wheels. The van just slided down the yard and smashed into owners new bmw. The new guy just took his jacked and left.At that moment. He knew he was fired

Thing is it was a heavy day and we had a skeleton crew full of new hires that I was babysitting while simultaneously running the department so I was already stressed asf, I wasn't gonna send them to break exactly at 2pm or else we would fall further behind. When he came back after a very long break I confronted him and told him I dismiss him for break and lunch, not the clock, I prefaced this by telling him we needed all hands on deck before we could go to break or lunch. He understood and we got back to work then he disappeared again, this time he didn't come back. Later at lunch I asked the production assistant and she said that this guy stormed into the office and told them what a fucking ahole I am and they need to watch who they promote, that I disrespected the crap out of him and someone like me couldn't me in charge of him.
