    @@julekim sure!!! The very first thing I absolutely must implement in my LIFE is, take the proven techniques being taught and do them EXACTLY as they are laid out, BEFORE you start trying to tweak it and modify it. That is a major flaw in most salespeople that have been doing it for a year or more regardless of the industry, we just wing it to fit what's comfortable to us individually. JuleKim I've "tried" SOO many things to be successful and now I understand why its was always short lived. Technique beats talent all day. Thanks again for this video and allowing me to share

    @@philliplott9572 thank you for admitting that. I know we all do that to some degree, which is super interesting to me. Lately, what I've been thinking and applying is this: Make the decision to allow life to be simple. So much of what goes wrong for us is that we ourselves are the ones bringing in more complexity or problems with stuff like this where we try to modify things before we tried it even once, or how someone suggests an idea and the instead of considering the idea for even one second we immediately go looking for all of the reasons it can't be done.

    @@julekimtypically people don't like the sales person. I sometimes have to wear the sales person hat. When I meet a sales person trying to sell something. I turn it into a training experience for myself. I study the conversation and I also ask questions about the market. Sometimes I tell the sales person what I am doing and they usually appreciate it.

    Jule Kim the hurdle you faced with Chris and selling him on SEO just needed a tiny shift to overcome. You were 99% there. Even though; as you said didn’t focus on the “decision maker” during your pitch to him he gave you the answer you needed to close the deal. Just because it’s obvious by my perspective it shows how when we are so close to something it may not be obvious to ourselves. I think the two of you are so amazing and powerful in what you do. It’s a good lesson for us all about the value of being fluid as you are discussing here. How we can always improve and that if we are on a journey of growth then everything is a lesson. Well done. ❤

    Hi Chris, the more personal your stories the more likely I'll grab a cup of tea, sit back and absorb an hour-plus video. As a designer and an AC alum (ID'93) I appreciate your commitment to the art of immersion and your love of quality. I believe, and I imagine this is true for you, it is a privilege to struggle. To want something enough that you are willing to work tirelessly, to step into a challenge of unknown depth, unknown complexity, for the benefit of the quality of outcome. Also, if I may comment on you and Jule Kim working together. There is a wonderful balance of differences between the two of you. The timbre and tenor of your voices are very different, but the underlying messages are both moving in the same direction toward the respect, devotion to craft and a reverence for quality. Appreciate you both. You tube, like any big platform has its ills, it's a pleasure to make tea and hear great and meaningful stories. Thanks a million, David

    -Sell Chris Do -I very much enjoyed this session as the conversation and sharing you guys have feels more personal and less formal which is a nice change from the usual podcast interviews. -Regarding students not following instructions, please allow me to share my thoughts on this : I feel sometimes this happens because they do not / have not yet fully understand the reason behind the instructions. Definitely everybody learn differently & indeed there are a lot of other factors that needs considering (people, situation, setting, nature of topic, etc..), but to share my experience : I sometimes teach a very hands-on topic (example : car detailing : How to clean leather seats safely), I observed if I tell them just the steps (example : step 1 : spray cleaner, step 2 : wipe with dry towel, step 3 : wipe with wet towel, step 4 : apply leather conditioner, etc...) I find them following the steps 'blindly' without understanding why, so when the situations changes a little bit they do not know how to be flexible and adapt (which you need when it comes to car detailing), and also some just do not trust the process or forget /mess up the steps because they do not understand why. So I feel for some students, you need to tell them : 1. The ultimate goal, (You sometimes need to hammer this in) 2. What we're trying to do, 3. The steps / process. Take for example the sales method you teach us (Pls don't roast me if I get this wrong haha): 1.Ultimate goal : To genuinely want to help the customer. 2.What we're trying to do : Help customer gain clarity on the issues they are facing, build rapport with customer, etc.. 3.Steps : Ask customer calibrated questions & listen attentively, take notes, summarize & repeat what the customer said, etc... Sometimes you can rearrange the sequence accordingly for maximum impact, like when you (Chris) talked about the wood working / carpentry class where the instructor / teacher tells you what is required of you without teaching you all the techniques to make you realize & appreciate some things. For me, if I forget the steps, but remember the ultimate goal, I find that I usually won't go too far off course, and that I can better adapt accordingly to different context, culture, etc, if required. Just sharing my observations and hope it helps contribute to the topic. Thank you for the great & generous things that you guys share!

    From the biggining, my question for chris and if I'm the vendor, simply and honestly i would ask "Chris, you probably know so many artists, what makes you think you choose me over the others? And if you like me to do it, what would be the fare price you are willing to pay for my work?" And I would say a fare fee that I'm willing to do it for. Since you already designed the logo. I think chris's point would be since he is doing my work, putting it on his portfolio( if it's not a NDA signed) he would get so much attention." I would go with a very low number as even giving him a discount. And I would do it probably. Since having it at my work. Depending on negotiation I might not do it. Just be yourself and provide value guys. All the best.

    I was travelling today and got to listen to the whole episode, and it was great! I was always taught as long as you've sold the value correctly then if price is the last thing on table, it's never about price. However in this case it seems it actually is!I think you hit on a good topic that i would love to hear your opinion on and that's how to deal with someone who knows how much something should cost. From your story with your friend and the logo painting there is a unique dynamic in that you could easily do the work yourself, know whats involved but there is an inconvenience for you to do it where your time could be better spent elsewhere so there is an adjustment in the value it brings to you. Would you lean into their expertise with something like.... "Chris, I know you could easily just do this yourself so I appreciate you coming to me. We both know it should only be X hours work and I would normally charge £X but to get it off your plate I think a reasonable price would be £X".

A celebrity died that the wine was linked to, tragically hip. Anyhow people went bananas after that buying it as gift and collectables 3. Yoga, wine and cheese .. lol people will board a school bus to do this type thing 4. Memorabilia, beating tiger woods in his prime has its perks for an underdog and namesake wine 4.

I am not creative (in the context of this chanel, I am in finance and acounting and trying to find my human creativity) and I can sense from each talk that chris is actually an artist... especially when he was describing in some previous talks his visits to hotels (marble for example or the craft of furniture) -- so I do not really understand how come that creatives "forget" that he is an artist... anyway lovely talk as always, I really like that your chanell is so different and the talks with Jule Kim are my favourites. It's definitely hard. I've learned so much from the Futur channel, but the majority of it was things that really made me stop and think. Like real reflecting on what is the true real value of my work. Your episodes w Blair Enns were especially enlightening. Makes me question whether it's about intelligence. Perhaps there's a correlation between higher intelligence and feeling less safety. When people don't follow instructions the most common examples are ego (they think they know better), and lack of safety (they don't trust this will work as-is).

  • @johnny_belmont

    @johnny_belmont

    27 күн бұрын

    @@julekim It might be for sure! The ego thing surely makes sense. Or thinking they just know better (plain arrogance) and starting to tweak and "innovate" on methods they haven't mastered yet. There's also one thing I haven't considered: in Portuguese, "intelligent" and "smart" are one and the same word (inteligente). Perhaps in English the quote would make more sense if we translated it as "smart students"... as in "smart ass" 😄 What do you think?

At 2 hours, that's $10k of valuable Chris Do time having to dig out supplies, get setup, frustratingly warning up to get in the zone to ensure your line quality, plus all that messy clean up after. That's time you could be booking additional clients, shopping at LV, or just enjoying that time with your family. That artist, even at $5k, seemed to be giving it to you for a steal. It's just really hard for me to believe THE Chris Do only values his free time at about $100/hr 🤔😉
