Why NOT Having Legs Makes Me HOT!

It's finally starting to feel like summer...weather wise! Today I chat about why my body overheats faster than most folks and what I do to cool down!

LOL. I was thinking the same thing! Nice to know there are other dirty minds out there than mine. Know what I do in summer when my body overheats? I have actually gotten up and taken a tepid shower and don't dry myself off, and get back into bed buck naked. I just don't like running the AC all night being in just one room. I'm not only perverted... I'm cheap! 😄

i'm autistic and suuuuper sensitive to heat if i get too hot i will get extremely nauseous which is a pain during the summer. usually i also just wear as little as possible but in the netherlands we don't have any airconditioning in homes, so my saving grace has been... FANS! i put them all over the house!! full blast!!

I even thought to myself (nodding sagely) that I could relate somewhat as I have been fetishized for being fat. Thank goodness we weren't having this convo in person. Talk about egg on my face lol

I’m surprised you don’t have a portable AC. My cousin has one for each bedroom because her AC doesn’t reach the bedrooms. It’s a good thing to have if you have thermal issues, and you overheat. You can have one running in your room to keep you cool when you can’t have the AC on.

Hi I stumbled across one of your videos and have been binge watching, you ask about if your viewers are disabled or not, I am disabled. I wasn't born disabled but an accident I had damaged my knee and hey presto I'm disabled. I have to use crutches to help me walk, and when the distance to walk is too much I then have to use my wheel chair. I also suffer chronic pain with my legs and am constantly on pain relief to help. Also to help me cope I do drawings as it distracts me from the chronic pain I have. I have been told by many that I'm a good artist although I don't view myself as one. I think you are amazing and think it's great that you have a good sense of humor. I love to joke about with my husband and daughter it keeps my spirits up 🙂. I hope that you are keeping well and staying safe 🙂

Oh this is so interesting!!! Thanks for explaining how that works for your body temp! I also find it interesting the control of the heating and AC units for you guys! I live in NZ in one of the driest and hottest places in summer and the coldest in the winter... I moved to a new house last year that thankfully has a beautiful wood burner for the winter BUT no AC which I had become used to.. so I bought a portable AC unit that you can also fill with ice for extra chill! I also run a dehumidifier so the place is not damp, there is nothing worse! :) Little and easy things can make the difference! :) Oh and I keep my clothes on lol lol

I live in Belgium (not so hot) but work offshore in Indonesia/Singapore for now. I do long hours outside, in the sun 35 to 59C - 100% humidity. Last trip it took me about 2 weeks for basic heat acclimatisation. And about a month to feel ok. My tricks is to not overcool my cabin (about 26C), and to sip on a bottle of water that is half ice before getting heat exhaustion. Changing t shirts and socks (sorry) 3 time a day also helps.

As someone who does have legs but DOESN'T have a thyroid, I feel your temperature adjustment struggles! I'm actually the opposite--I have a very hard time warming up once I'm cold and am very sensitive to the cold, but I also just struggle with quick temperature changes in general. Box fans and cold water are my best friends in the summer time; blankets are my besties in the winter.

Here in the Philippines, I go shirtless almost all the time with just shorts and flipflops. Where I live, it is the humidity more so than the heat that makes wearing a shirt impossible. I do wear a shirt when I'm filming, but otherwise, not so much, as it usually just ends up all wet with sweat. As you see in our latest Welcome! video, my assistant is shirtless. This is actually how we are most of the time so he didn't think twice about putting a shirt on for this video. And of course, if he had, it wouldn't have been so hot!

My neighbor has Amelia (no limbs) and she keeps her place pretty cool, thank goodness for AC! I cool down with lots of water and my goal this summer is to eat loads of watermelon 🍉 ...I’m already off to a great start! This weekend it was 92*F/33*C here. We keep the blinds closed and have room darkening drapes in the bedroom. I find that taking a cool shower before bed helps. I also have a fan blowing on me to cool me down and need the white noise it provides to help me sleep. Stay cool!

I keep my blinds down during the day and leave the windows open during the night, to get the nice cold in. Just have to set an alarm before sunrise so I can close them again (and also because there is people smoking in front of the house and that stench gets in). Also I do a nice cold smoothie made of frozen raspberries, banana and apple I put in the fridge the day before and some nice cold apple juice. I always do a liter of that and drink it all at once. Really cools you down quickly (plus doubles as a tasty meal).

I overheat SUPER easily, and with us not having A/C it's been pretty hard after moving to Washington. But! My current room has two windows (as I am on the corner) so if I open both, when a breeze comes through it cools the place down real quick. When I don't want to be toooo cold, I use a fan next to an open window. I also never sleep with clothes on, so you're not alone.

i invested in some pads you can put in either the fridge or the freezer and you can sleep with them and they are perfect for getting to sleep. I have 1 million fans and air con going. If desperate you can put a tupperware (w the lid off) full of ice in front of a fan and the evaporation will help cool you using the fan air. COLD, ice COLD, showers. Another thing invested in was migraine headbands but if I am having a super hot spell putting one of those on the back of my neck makes a difference. Those are my tips and tricks. Oh yeah and lights out and blinds shut when crazy hot. Sidebar - when you were on the ladder my anxiety was like OMG!!!!!!!

It’s a cavity in my spinal cord, which causes problems with body temperature regulation (and chronic pain) so I sweat like a 🐽 pretty much year round. And pain meds cause hot flashes. So staying hydrated, using ice packs on my head/neck & wearing lose fitting layers I can take off all help, plus running the A/C (open windows in the cold months)

I’m always cold! I don’t enjoy the a/c unless it’s over 30C and I always have a sweater with me in case a breeze kicks up! I’m the one in pants and a jacket at work! Lol if it’s really cold, I’ll probably have a heater at my feet!

as a very warm natured person, living in Oklahoma, I think icepack undergarments should be a thing. especially, something like a tank top

My body has bad temperature regulation, I overheat extremely easy and get super itchy when I get hot. To cool myself down I literally put my feet in front of the fan, or even use a wrapped ice pack on them. It usually works after a little while. There is a point that it can be so bad that I'll just need to hop in a shower, but usually the cooling of my feet works just fine. So yes, I can confirm that feet play a part in regulating temperature.

I don't do well in hot weather, luckily we have been having a cool summer in New England. But it is because I am a very round person. But I am a big lover of AC and fans. If it is nice enough I have the windows open. For me a cold bottle of water or soda or ice tea is awesome.
