    I think people hate Edison too much because Edison did spread the whole concept of invention and in New Jersey, he brought together a research lab and together with his team made a lot. If Tesla was the ONLY inventor, it would be mainly electric power and many things would not have been made and plus Telsa came to the US because of Edison's success. A lot of people like to say Edison is an evil person, but he worked very hard and assembled a team and talked to the press well, and brought Hollywood to California. Many successful people do rough things to be successful and not saying yes to everything. Elon Musk had to compete against Hyudai, Honda, and talk down to haters, Jeff Bezos had to wipe out other businesses to reach where Amazon is today, and many more. But Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Edison aren't bad people. They brought new inventions to our world and inspire others. The higher up you get the more haters you get and the more competition you need to go against. I am a big fan of all these people and glad we have a world full of invention

    So, where do you find honesty and moral integrity in the commercial world ? How many people let their "yes" mean yes, and their "no" mean no ?(Matt 5:37 in the Bible) Greed is the prime player in the world of commercialism, in which rivalry or competition does this: "And I have seen how much effort and skillful work spring from rivalry between people; this too is futility, a chasing after the wind."(Ecc 4:4 in the Bible) Yes, though rivalry or competition causes people to do "skillful work", it also does not bring people together in unity, but can divide, creating distrust and jealousy, whereby Proverbs 14:30 says that "jealousy is rottenness to the bones". Thomas Edison, though receiving fame and glory for his "inventions", also showed his true colors, how unscrupulous he was, when he promised to pay Nikola Tesla $50,000 to repair all his DC generators which Tesla did over a two month period, improving them, and then for Edison to refuse to pay him, saying the money was just "an American joke". But there is a hope for honesty earth wide, for God, whose name is Jehovah (see Isa 12:2, KJV), has made known that there will be a people called "meek" ones who will be honest, morally clean, dependable, trustworthy, who keeps their promises.(Ps 15:4) It is these"meek" ones that will do this: "But the meek will possess the earth, and they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.......forever".(Ps 37:11, 29)

    @@jimyhalfpoint5852 The Bible is NOT a fantasy book, but is an accurate account of history, providing insight into how the earth was transformed from a "bare rock" covered with water into a home for living creatures at Genesis 1 and then shows why we are imperfect, age, grow old and die, given the fact that our original "father", Adam listened to his wife's voice Eve and took what he had no right to, fruit from "the tree of knowledge of good and bad", being a participant in the rebellion against God's rightful authority.(Gen 3:1-6; Rom 5:12) It also imparts how the state of affairs that now exists, of why wickedness is so extensive (Rev 12:9), of how sin or imperfection that leads to death, along with those who rejects God's rightful rulership, will be dealt with, by means of a heavenly government called God's Kingdom at Genesis 3:15, in which this heavenly government is called "the woman's offspring", that will crush the head of its archenemy "the serpent" or Satan the Devil and his "offspring", which is everyone who does not willingly submit themselves to God's kingdom.(Note: God's name is Jehovah, see Isa 12:2, KJV) So, from the moment after the rebellion in the garden of Eden some 6,000 years ago, Jehovah God made specific arrangements to undo the damage done then. For those who realize that they are just a "step away" from death at any given moment, who want an everlasting future in perfect peace, security, health, love and weather, then these ones will take hold of what Jehovah God has promised, a promise that is guaranteed, as at Revelation 21: "With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look ! The tent of God is with mankind (on the earth, with "meek" ones), and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. And the One seated on the throne said: “Look ! I am making all things new.” Also he says: “Write, for these words are faithful and true."(Rev 21:3-5) And some examples that shows the Bible as true, but which were discounted is that of an Assyrian king named Sargon, that is only mentioned once in the Bible. Up till 1843, he was seen as just an imaginary person, but then a French consular named agent Paul-Émile Botta discovered his 70 room palace at Khorsabad, Iraq. Or of David, mentioned by name over 1,000 times in the Bible, who was found to have been a real person in 1993 through archaeological excavations by Professor Avraham Biran at Tel-Dan, north of the Sea of Galilee. Of science, some have contended with such scriptures as Job 26:7, which states: "He (or God) stretches out the northern sky over empty space, suspending the earth upon nothing." This was stated some 3,600 years ago by a man from the east named Job. How could Job have had any inkling, any insight into how the earth is "held up", being ' suspended upon nothing ' ? He had no knowledge of physics, no grasp of the atom, of how things work. Yet, what he said is accurate, for the earth, as well as the moon, as well as the stars are held by "nothing" visible, but is the result of an unseen force called gravity, and even physicists cannot accurately explain what gravity really is, except that it is an attractive force that attracts, keeping us and all other "things" on the ground. Yet, some 1,000 years later, people of India taught that the earth was supported on the backs of elephants who were standing on the back of a giant turtle. Then Greek philosopher Aristotle (384-322 B.C.E.) taught that the earth was "fixed", not moving, and that all the stars were also "fixed", being held in 50 crystalline spheres around the earth, like layers of an onion. It was not until the time of Galileo (1564-1642 C.E.) in the 17th century that people had any idea of what held up the earth, what kept it in "suspension". And it was not until Isaac Newton (1642-1727 C.E.) that the force was given the name of gravity. So, what Job said has now been proven true by accurate science. Also, up till the 15th century C.E., it was commonly believed that the earth was flat, and to this day, people still say that the earth is flat, as the July 2020 issue of Physics World shows, yet some 2,700 years ago, the Bible told its readers that the earth is round, saying: "There is One who dwells above the circle (Hebrew chugh, meaning "a circle", Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible) of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers. He is stretching out the heavens like a fine gauze, and he spreads them out like a tent to dwell in."(Isa 40:22) So, if the Bible is fantasy, then how could it be so accurate ?

    Now the lightbulb is an interesting case like the telephone. Why do we see Edison and bell even though there were inventions before them. But why do we consider either of them well it is because when they made theirs it was the actual change sure the light bulb had been made before but it was just a cool thing not a replacement for gas lamps or candles as they burned out quickly. Edison's design changed that and they became economically viable which is why lights started to come in same with the telephone sure there was the talking telegraph but it was expensive and it took a long time to send messages. The phonograph was another huge thing as now records came in. Now Tesla was far ahead for his time and he gave us AC power which has worked very well though one issue as time has gone on less things actually take AC power as it doesn't allow enough watts and amps for the power through so many things need AC and DC converters

    Lol Tesla still has lived an upper middle life in luxurious hotels till his death. Dined in fine restaurants and was able to have unpaid bills because his friend Westington helped him. He still got millions from selling his patent rights to Westington and millions were worth a lot back then. Also don't forget that Edison legacy is General electric whose entire fortune he has invested in (I believed in).

    It should be noted that AC can absolutely lose power through long distances, however this is minimised through the use of transformers that increase the voltage (or “push” of electricity) and that decreases the current (which is the main reason for power loss as Power Loss = Current ^2 * Resistance). Transformers can only work with AC so that is why this is important compared to DC.

  • @dare2scheme904

    @dare2scheme904

    2 жыл бұрын

    Indeed, there are a lot of laymen on KZread scripting melodramatic history and revisionism while falling short of critical facts. I'm not going to criticize all his designs, but an additional point I always made is that the decision in favor of "Tesla's AC", has been vast sums of money wasted on AC rectifiers for the majority of plug-in devices. Further, when multiple sources of power are tied into the same grid, AC creates the additional challenge of AC frequency and phase synchronization, which doesn't exist with DC. With DC, most devices would only need a cheap resistor pack and electric devices would subsequently be simpler and cheaper to produce. Also, Tesla's attempts at wireless transmission only resulted in the infamous electrical arcs and even if his factory burned down, he should have been able to simply make a functioning device elsewhere, if even at a small scale. However, he clearly couldn't. Notwithstanding, Tesla indeed contributed much innovation, but he wasn't the end all or the only important contributor. It's great that a car company has popularized a great contributor, but no man is perfect.

    Tesla wasn't a greedy businessman like edison was, he focused on giving us free and abundant energy, which big corporate businesses didn't want.

    If you have not noticed, Cindy has an excellent speaking voice. English is not her first language. However, her videos are solid and watched all over the world. She is an excellent study for anyone that really wants to come to Canada. Welcome All! Cindy probably lives a few blocks from me. That freaks me out, so amazing a woman. Yonge and Dundas?

    I believe this is changing though and Nikola Tesla is becoming more talked about, at least by my gen (I’m 18). For example when I think of the greatest inventors Tesla is one of those that come to my mind, but not Edison.

    At the Nikola Tesla museum in Beograd, Serbia, we saw (among other things) a radio-controlled boat that Tesla built in 1898, a time when very few people even knew there was such a thing as radio!
