We saw plenty of penalties with light contact in the World Cup but this had zero contact. Was it similar to Thuram’s simulation vs Argentina?

At least Thurman made contact which makes it more believable than this dive. I would like to say this had -10 contact.

Yes Thuram initiated the contact but it did look like a penalty in real-time. This one from Neymar never looked like a pen unfortunately for him.

Easy decisions. Hard to argue especially when Neymar could have easily gotten a second yellow for dissent when he was shown his first card.

Usually at the top level, refs will not issue cards for dissent, especially a second yellow.

I’ll look at doing this as a single incident post; Alvarez was fouled IMO as the goalkeeper ‘impeded him with contact’ as the laws of the game put it. It’s debatable depending on your perspective and bias but most refs are giving that as a penalty.

More cards for simulation need to be shown and there would be less simulation. Well done ref.

Simulation is often difficult to spot without VAR replays because minor contact can still be a foul. But if it’s clear simulation, it’s an automatic yellow

One question was the mbappe penalty similar to that of di Maria trip? From my view, yes. What's your take on that incident? Always appreciate your perspective.

Yes, very similar because of the hand contact. It’s minimal but it’s still a mistake by the defender; you can’t pull or push when you are behind someone like that or you risk a foul. Soft penalty but correct decision. VERY close to being offside also; they didn’t show a close up of that.

Correct decision however there was an image posted by someone on twitter that the referee didn't book a player in the same game for doing what neymar did for his first yellow card

Best part about officials is that they’re human. Neymar got ppls attention bc he’s known for his antics. Maybe official missed it. Or maybe he wanted Neymar to quit w/ the bullshit so he tagged him early to send a message

That's bull because look how they played Neymar and none of the other players got a card but as soon as he did what they've been doing to him he got two cards referee is garbage and bias

It’s possible he sometimes gets harshly treated because of his reputation; referees have inherent bias just like fans
