Why NBA Live 2005 & NCAA March Madness 2005 are immortal

Ойындар

NBA Live 2005 and March Madness 2005 released just months apart from each other and both represent pivotal parts in the series. For both series, it was the title before the next gen of the XBox 360. RSo this was the last time that both games would be solely focused on for the previous generation of consoles. The last time before we figured out that neither series had any idea on how to adjust to the XBox 360.
Anyway we’re going to look at a few features the games have in common and a few places where the games separate. From each other.

    live 2005 is still a ton of fun. I think if you're under a certain age, graphics don't age well. For me the fun factor is super high. Live's dribble mechanics and speed out do the modern lag of a wireless controllers.

    It pains me deeply I was 20 when those games came out. I’m almost 40 now. And I’d play em again in a heartbeat. Trying to track down a ps2 for cheap so I can pick up a few older games like these. I remember that dunk contest being fucking awesome. Doing cartwheels and nailing those dunks for you and your friends cheering. Great times.

    I grew up in a family that didn't care for technology although we would still watch sports, This was 2015 so badger basketball was at its arguable peak, My dad had an original x-box and he had all the ea 05 games (and ncaa football 04) because I was a big fan of college b-ball when I first discovered the xbox It was my obvious first game choice. My first game Me #20 Wisconsin (shouldn't even be ranked there actually bad) vs Youngstown state my dad beat me 38-12, I improved overtime and played my brother nearly every day. He would always try 3-pointers while my only score were lay-ups and dunks (i was shit at shooting). I beat him almost every time, one time we drove out to a badger game (badgers won) and we hooked up the xbox to the car and played it on the built in screen! This was the closest I remeber to my bro beating me, I was half asleep and we had a Kansas v Kansas game it was tied 53-53 and i won in overtime 68-65. I never really got into dynasty mode bc in season recruiting was always an issue for me and my ocd from ncaa '04 dynasties caused me to never do in season recruiting. But during quarantine Ive started up a UWM dynasty, Im 22 years in and we are in the big ten with 3 nattys and 7 f4s.

    The Bottomline the games were fun. This was before the generation wanted just simulation. This was a different time bro. 20 somethings had been playing NES SNES and PSX. Graphics all that mattered and fun factor. I lived through it and I was in my mid twenties.

    This was the game that drove me away from the NCAA March Madness series, and it's because it was completely unrealistic. The game play is OK, not fantastic, but the presentation is a sheer mess. It doesn't matter what team you use or what your record is, you're not getting a good seed in the NCAA tournament in this game. Here's my experience through four years of Dynasty mode with this game. Year 1, I start with Delaware, win the CAA with a 23-9 record and win the CAA tournament. I land a No. 15 seed. OK, no big deal; I'm from a one-bid league and I scheduled a few easy wins while learning who my team was. That's fine. Year 2, still Delaware. I win the CAA again at 27-6 with a tougher schedule and get a No. 13. Still not a problem; this happens all the time to teams in one-bid leagues. This seed is right where I'd expect. After the season, I jump to Providence...and here's where it goes off the rails. Year 3, Providence. I win the Big East regular season and tournament titles. I scheduled reasonably out of conference, picked off a few Power 6 opponents and finished 25-8. I get a No. 15 seed. Big East champion, and I get a No. 15. Not only that, but despite winning the league, I get rewarded with a notification that I have been removed from the Big East for lack of success (that must have been awkward when they sent the championship banner) and dropped to Conference USA. Year 4, Providence. Now in C-USA but bringing back the Big East champions, I run over the conference and schedule as tough as I can. My record: 31-2. And for the third time in four years, I get a No. 15 seed. Of course, this ridiculous low seed leads to me pulling a Saint Peter's and picking off the No. 2, No. 7 and No. 3 seeds before falling by a point in the regional final to the No. 1 seed. And despite that ridiculousness, at the end of the year, I'm moved back up to the Power 6 as a member of the ACC. To add to the ridiculosity, my brother then played a season where he went undefeated with North Carolina. He received a No. 5 seed. That's apparently the best you can get on this game.

    Every basketball game after NBA 2k11 is obsolete gameplay wise. Only exceptions are arcade games like NBA Street vol. 2-3 and NBA Jam.

  • @westheking12
    @westheking126 ай бұрын

    Eh to me this is the best gameplay and art style for an arcade type basketball game to date with still a simulation feel with the rules and etc. I’m kinda hoping EA turns to this style for when they go back to NBA Live to help them distance themselves from now dominant 2k who it will take a lot of work to be on par straight simulation wise. Also I hope this is what 2k has in mind for their new football game too. Since they can’t do a “simulation of football” like EAs Madden.

    You, like many casual gamers, are too wrapped up in the OVERALL rating and not specific ratings. You complain about Shawn Bradley blocking shots and he is ranked #15 all time in NBA history in blocks. He wasn't the best Center in NBA history by any means, but they made him good at the thing he is good at... and you are complaining because of his overall?
