The blue Touran has an Irish registration as you can see from the letters "Irl" on the licence plate. The 04 on the license plate means that it was first registered in 2004 and CE means it was registered in county Claire. The 3040 at the end of the number means it the 3040th vehicle or motorcycle registered in that county in 2004.

@Martin Yeah and the Corolla is not a "truck". It's a sedan or a saloon, depending on what part of the world you are from 🙂 In my part of the world (South Africa), a "truck" is the same thing as a "lorry", three metric tons and up load capacity. A light commercial vehicle that has a load bay is called a pickup. In the local vernacular it is a "bakkie", from the Afrikaans for "bak" (load bay) and the suffix "ie" which makes it diminutive: Small load bay. Distinguishes it from a lorry that has a large load bay. But a Corolla is not a Bakkie. It's a sedan, a passenger vehicle. And I know the world is fond of beating on the Corolla for being boring, but there are some true gems if you dig a little. Back in the day Toyota frequently did that: Put a large engine into a smaller sedan. We used to have a hatchback known as the "conquest" (a continuation of what was originally the starlet in Japan), with the 1.8 liter 4A-GE engine. 85kW in an 800kg shell, back in the 80s. This Corolla is to me an example of that same sort of recipe, with a stick shift too boot. (Stick shifts are standard where I live, but apparently in America it is rare enough that people consider driving stick a skill 🙂).

I remember when the X5 first came out as the E53. BMW hired a bunch of movie directors to make short films using the X5 and other models like the 5 series. They drove the X5 through a river, that was pretty cool. They starred Clive Owen, who played a driver for hire. They were so popular that the driver for hire thing was reworked and turned into the movie The Transporter with Jason Statham playing the driver instead of Clive Owen.

If that's the case you'd have an easier time selling it for $7k with everything addressed or maybe you could sell it with the understanding that the Car Ninja will do the fix for the new owner. The noise starting the CRV is a well known issue. The variable timing cog, has a pin so it starts cold in a fixed position until the oil pressure builds up. This pin gets stuck, usually because owners do not change the oil as frequent as they should. At most this problem is solved changing the variable timing cog. It does not harm the car driving it like that but it might stretch the timing change a bit in the long term

I bought an 2018 X5 in August 2018 and it had been to Mannheim auctions 11 times in 2021 before it sold. Prior to that it sat with a wholesale dealer in PA for 3-4 months, before they sent it to auction (foir the first time). It had a clean CarFAX, and no rust or damage. ...... When I got hold of it, it was 100% fully functional - _everything_ works, and other than 1 tiny stone chip on the hood and some minor rubs on the front bumper, it is totally clean. I took it to a local non-franchise BMW specialist, and they confirmed that it is 100% fully operational, no issues, no concerns. Six months later it is _still_ 100%, no issues, and just about to get it's first service, at the non-franchise BMW specialist. Why did nobody want it? Dunno, beats me. The only think I can think is that it's the more thirsty V8 version, but that is what I was looking for, and it drives _very_ nicely!

@@papa_pt While you are absolutely correct about that, you can get an old kicked around never maintained toyota or honda and get it fixed up nice for little cost and effort. But that's not what BMWs are made for, they are made to be an amazing vehicle for at least around 100k miles as a luxurious sporty experience. If you want a car that can go high miles and last forever and are cheap to maintain that's what toyotas and hondas are for. They each do what they were designed to do well, if you can afford a nice vehicle like that, chances are you aren't trying to squeeze 300k out of it with minimal costs along the way. That's where people make the mistake of buying old high mile ones that need some work just because they love the car so much, but they really can't afford to maintain and fix it. Unless they are lucky and get one well maintained that never has any serious issues for many years even with high miles, which does happen, it's happened to me, then they end up with a nightmare that slowly eats their money and can never stay fully maintained that maybe the average person wouldn't realize if all they knew was BMWs are cool and fast and hey look I can afford that high mile one for only 5k, I guess I can afford one! They don't understand what car guys know, that just because you can buy an old bmw doesn't mean you can afford one. And I know my original comment was a little harsh but to be perfectly honest I saw the opportunity to leave a comment early after the video was posted and knew that if it was engaging enough that I might get some reactions because I know it is a sensitive subject and painting all old bmws as money traps is over generalizing because there are many excellent old reliable bmws out there. When I said old what I really meant was not classics, but "modern" old cars like ones that have recently been hitting end of life from miles and years, so ones from the last 10 or 15 years that have a lot of miles and need maintenance. Because everybody knows how FUN it is to work on modern BMWs c: just ask the Wizard he will let you know what a rewarding experience it is to service them xD

In GA you pay a lump sum on the “market value”, I put that in quotes because nobody knows where they arrive on said value. Every vehicle I’ve registered here has had an absurdly inaccurate market value that I’ve had the misfortune of paying taxes on rather than the true purchase price.

It's more common in Republican states because they have lower average income and need the tax money more. When I lived in NY I didn't pay it and now in NC I do.

I love both the Element and the XRS, my brother has an XRS and I love working in it for maintenance and love to drive it. That thing is over powered Corolla, really fun to drive. The Element are hard to find and they are getting pricy. That X5 will be great for a DIY project car. By the way, you don't detail an Element 😂.they are supposed to look like that.

@@aussie2uGA there’s a few that were very unreliable but after 2006, the base models became extremely reliable. The reason they had some unreliable cars is because they are constantly innovating and figuring things out. Toyota are reliable because they don’t innovate mechanically. BMW has stopped innovating so much with internal combustion engine so they became more reliable.
