People seems to forget two things. 1. Max is very fragile mentally and he is one race away from doing something stupid which will cost him points. 2. Lewis has been here before, and he always have a better second half of the season. I will not write off Mercedes knowing Lewis has the ability to deliver and Max a hot head.

That wasnt an act of desperation i dont feel. When the two best racers ever go wheel to wheel this sort of accident is likely. It just so happened to be at one of the fastest corners on the track. I believe it was a racing incident but I thought Hamilton’s penalty was justified since he was going to miss the apex. That being said, I do feel Max could have given more room. He had more to lose than Hamilton at that point in the season. It’s decisions like that which set hamilton and verstappen apart. Hamilton is willing to play the long game where Verstappen only cares about being in front at that moment. It’s similar to the Ocon crash he had at Brazil. Hamilton even said after the race that it was Max’s to lose and so he shouldve been more careful (at Brazil). Thanks for commenting tho bro. It means a lot 🙌🏼. I love having these debates

They’ve been niced by the last minute reg changes for this year which favour their high rake chassis setup. I hope Merc can bounce back to an extent but I don’t think they’ll be able to hold off Red Bull and Max for much longer. Could see Perez jump Bottas soon as well as he gets hooked up with the Red Bull

I agree with this video. As a Merc and a Lewis fan I accept you're are not always going to win forever. The problem is that if we lose both championships let's lose it with a bang. Let's give Max and RB one hell of a fight and make them sweat for it. I heard Toto said that there'll be no more major updates this season in favour of developments for 2022. By that basically he has put us under a bus and sold us out.

Hahaaa. We’ll have to wait and see. To be fair to myself. This video was just my early thoughts on the debate. My view now is that it’s Red Bull’s to lose. They have the fastest car and arguably the stronger line up so they should at least win the constructors. If they don’t then they’ve really messed up. But I’m a Mercedes fan anyway so i dont want them to win anyway 😂

Red Bull is fast but is the Honda engine reliable as it was to be used for 2022 and rushed into service for this year and may suffer reliability issues.

Fair point but every engine has had to be brought forward. Plus the Mercedes had more issues in testing than honda so we’ll have to wait and see

Dont think redbull is faster yet, i am affraid Max is a better driver than Lewis, checo not getting 4th place means that redbull is not a mercedes yet.

I have to disagree. Perez had a massive task at hand to get P5, in a completely new car to him no less (compare his results to that of Vettel’s). If anything, it shows that Red Bull have two incredible drivers. Their car is faster than the Mercedes. You can’t debate that. Perez was unlucky in qualifying yes, but watch Imola. He’s gonna do well. I reckon him and Bottas will be fighting for a podium place

Well. I wouldn’t call myself delusional. I did say in the video that they will make adjustments but then won’t be able to 100% fix the issue coz of the chassis freeze. Fair enough. But like I said, if we look at the available information, we can make a pretty good prediction of what will happen. Don’t forget, this isn’t like when Ferrari was faster than Mercedes but Mercedes still won, because Red Bull have great strategists. At the end of the day, theoretically, Mercedes shouldn’t win, we can say that based on the facts available, however, they could still win if Red Bull mess up, but it’s Red Bull’s to lose. I knew Merc were favorites from the first race. They won at their second worst track in hybrid era. But everybody was raving about RB and Max. Now even Max knows it is almost impossible. But I hope you are right though.

Well... not entirely sure how that will work bearing in mind that F1 will never go back to engine-only powered vehicles 😂. But I get what you mean mate. They’ve got the stats in their favour, it’s gonna take something mega to beat them. My viewpoint, which admittedly I didn’t make very clear in the video because it was still my early thoughts on this debate, is that it’s Red Bull’s to lose. That, for me, is the only way Mercedes will win this year.

I thought he was past that phase but clearly not. He needs to quit being such a baby and grow up. Great driver. Sulky child. Hamilton is mature and his driving shows that. Verstappen has a long way to go before he will ever be the class of him.

On public tv tho... seriously. I get that british people swear, that doesn make me a hypocrite. Im just saying that it’s not appropriate, Verstappen knew that and then proceeded to say “i dont care” after... really (!). If hamilton did it I would say that he needs to grow up as well. It’s not like im just saying it to Verstappen (although it would be a rare occasion, if ever, if he did swear so that would be a different scenario). Max has always been a bratty childish driver. I respect him a lot but things like that are just silly and should just not be done. Therefore, I feel like he needs to grow up in that department. He’s a phenomenal driver, but he needs to check himself. All it does is come across arrogant and disrespectful. No one likes that in a person

I think merc performance on raceday is being overlooked. HAM stayed pretty much 2 secs behind VER on the first stint, despite the dirty air. People are going on about Merc being in trouble but they won the race. Red bull may well win but its going to be close.

I agree to an extent. And strategy did come into it in Bahrain. Ultimately I want Mercedes to win, no doubt about it, but it is Red Bull’s to lose. The likelyhood is that there will be a development war between the two throughout the season and Red Bull are better at developing through a season than Mercedes. We’ll have to wait and see won’t we. But in theory, it’s Red Bull’s to lose because they have a trick car this year where Mercedes are struggling with the issues Red Bull had last year. That’s fair. We can’t really comment on the reliability of either engine just yet because we’ve only had two races and they’re designed to last around half a season. But if I was to make a prediction I would actually say the Mercedes is more fragile. If we look at testing, Mercedes power units clocked up something like 9 issues, mainly from aston martin, but still. That’s my view but I’m not committing to anything just yet. RB are awsome and i get what your saying about them catching Mercedes but even though Max is so much faster than every other driver except LH hes still only the second fastest on the grid. Hamilton for an 8th championship but constructors title will be to the wire i really couldent call that 1.

After reading so many comments over the last few years about Hamilton only winning because of the car and he is still winning when some might argue the RB is now a better car but what ever opinions we all have this is going to be the best season for several years so we should all just enjoy it and your videos of too of course.

Very interesting video. We can for sure say that Mercedes F1 is the most efficient team in every aspect currently. And if the teams don‘t catch up in business structure, Mercedes will stay on top.

I agree to an extent. Mercedes have the biggest team and facilities by far but Red Bull have the best car currently (unless Mercedes have fixed their issue somewhat over the last few weeks) so they it’s theirs to lost. @@jakemorganGP which reminds me of Mclaren‘s restructuring process. Especially in the Honda days (2015-?), Mclaren showed us how to get P1 at blaming culture. (Blaming Honda, not knowing that their chassis wasn‘t good either) They restructured with Zak Brown and Andreas Seidl, work more efficiently, build a faster car, attract more sponsors and improve overall, etc. Just listening to Toto Wolff in Podcasts about working culture, efficiency, giving room to make mistakes and to learn from them (every member of the Team) shows clearly why they have been on top for the last 7 years.

100% agree mate. But at the same time, you can’t win forever. It’s a fantastic debate tbf. Either way I benefit. If Mercedes do win then I’m happy coz i support them. If they don’t then I get to say I was right in this video 😂. I think McLaren are a formidable force. They have a great pairing in Ricciardo and Norris. My only worry is that Ricciardo will out perform norris and he’ll get pushed aside so to speak because he’s not beating Daniel. Could happen, might not. But that’s my fear. I love McLaren and I don’t want the positive vibes from there to go wrong

On paper, Mercedes shouldn’t win this year as they don’t have the best car. BUT, if Red Bull butcher the season with dodgy strategy (which they rarely do let’s be real) then Mercedes could still win it.

I honestly think that it’s Red Bull’s to lose this year. If they havent won both championships then they haven’t maximised their season. Although, just for the sake of argument, you could say that A) Red Bull had a drastically changed new rear floor which they spent the whole weekend trying to understand, and 2) the track may not suit them (they struggled last year too). Either way our 7 year long wait of a championship battle has been finally rewarded, what a season! Race 1: Lewis Race 2: Max Race 3: Lewis This is truly gonna be mega. Hey. Please have a but more respect when you make comments, ey. You dont know that im wrong. So dont say I am. This is all based on opinions and judgements. I rate lewis hamilton 100%. And i support mercedes, so I want them to win. BUT 👏🏼 Red Bull had an advantage over mercedes with their car performance this year and they need to capitalise on it. So from my standpoint it’s Red Bull’s to lose. I appreciate it’s a relatively controversial topic, but it doesn’t mean we can’t all be respectful. When did Toto say they are not going to catch up to RedBull this year? Please provide a link if you can. Concerning your claim, I think it's far fetched to say that Merc won't be able to claw back the rear downforce they lost this year. Yes they've suffered the most compare to other high-rake cars but they will develop their way out even with the cost cap. Please go and watch Craig Scarborough on Peter Windsor channel to get a little bit detail on this. Plus, they've already significantly improved the car at Imola compare to Bahrain. Horner admitted that Merc tire deg was better than RedBull at the end of the first stint in Italy. Let's say you are right, If the difference lies 2 or 3 tenth in favour of RedBull, that doesn't make them favorites becouse Merc can still claw back the deficit by optimizing the setup on race day in conjunction with Lewis's exemplary tire preservation skill they can still win at the end.

Thanks for taking the time to write this. It’s such a hot topic and that’s why I love talking about this. I must admit that there are a few points in this video that weren’t explained fully because it was just my early thoughts off the back of the bahrain gp. Essentially my view is that it’s red bull’s to lose. Just because mercedes can develop doesnt mean that red bull wont. And Red Bull actually have better facilities to develop quickly throughout a season so they could extend their gap. look at last year, red bull got on top of a fundamental aero issue with the whole rear diffuser to the point where they were faster than mercedes at abu dhabi. @@jakemorganGP Toto said it's very difficult to catch up, but he didn't say they are not going to catch up, I dont need to tell you their is a difference between the two. Plus, Merc is equal if not better in terms of in-season development compare to Redull. Moreover, it took RedBull almost half a season to sort out their aero issues last year, so Newiy is not immune to areo mishaps as it is demonstrated in the last two or maybe three seasons. I just want to say you're doing a nice work on what you're doing in your channel. I see a great potential. But I need to give you a bit of advice, please do a thorough research on your content even though it's going to be a very tideous work. Thanks!

@Jake Morgan F1 To Say that Mercedes will or will not win, is kind of foolish, especially when there are 23 races this year. You don't need to have the best car to win, but you need the best driver and currently there isn't a better driver than Hamilton. Mercedes has the infrastructure to do pretty much anything they want, if they really want to invest in winning this year, they have the resources to do so. The rules were changed to give Max and company a better chance at winning and this is a good thing. The fact that Mercedes beat Red Bull, when Red Bull had the faster car, shows it takes a lot to win, even with the fastest car. Max's pass on Hamilton was 100% illegal anyday of the week on any track, it seems many on Social Media think there is an issue, when it is clear as day. Neither Max, nor Red Bull questioned the legality of the pass, but do people who were not there, have something to say? I have a Racing License and one of the first things you learn is that passing off Track is illegal, at all times. The controversy wasn't about the pass, it was about enforcing Track Limits and changing their minds during the race. There are 23 races this year, this is going to be tough on the crews and how well the 2nd team players are. Mercedes has as very deep squad, so can't see counting them out. Honda engines don't have a long history of reliability, especially when compared to Mercedes. The car is built around Max and that may come back to bite Red Bull, having 2 cars that can compete really makes a difference. I happen to agree with you, that Red Bull is in a superior position, if they play their cards right, Max should win the title. Mercedes may get motivated if they have a string of defeats, that could energize them and I don't see Red Bull beating an energized Mercedes team. Hamilton seems to be able to find an extra gear, when he is behind, so this could be a real battle coming to the close of the season. Good video, editing was really good.

Thanks mate. I totally agree with everything you said. For me, the video was about theory. Red Bull have the fastest car, Mercedes don’t and won’t be able to solve their issues 100%, therefore, they wont win. However, like you said, it is Red Bull’s to lose amd I’ve stressed this in other comments. It’s something I should have put in my video which is something I will learn from. Haha fair enough mate. I do have to say that Mercedes battered red bull this weekend. However, red bull did bring big upgrades that havent seemed to work. It could also just be the type of circuit it is. Either way it’s still gonna be a tasty season. Thanks for watching mate! 🙌🏼

@@jakemorganGP Mercedes are more reliable which more than whipes out any small gain at this early stage you think they have. Red Bull not even able to capitalise in the small improvement to take the lead. All Hamilton needs to do is keep doing what he doing, getting that 2nd when he can't win and that fastest lap. DNF will see Red Bull lose based on there record. You need the complete package. Mercedes have that. Honda has a redesigned new engine with unknown reliability. Max also more likely to crash than Hamilton. If you make bold claims you need bold evidence.

Now that IS a prediction that you dont have enough evidence to make. If anything, I would have said Mercedes is the least reliable. Look at howmany issues the merc PU had in testing. The honda has been faultless. I appreciate you taking the time to comment tho mate. Tbf this is a discussion that could go on and on, but as Crofty says, “we’ll have to wait and see” 😂

@@jakemorganGP I think it's Mercedes to lose tbh they seem to have sorted out the back end issues and already closed the gap on redbull. 2 wins for Mercedes 1 for redbull. I just think Mercedes have the team and power unit to see them through this season. But im glad it's so much closer.

😂😂😂. I know i know. Bold yet controversial. Essentially my argument is that it’s Red Bull’s to lose. For me that’s the only way they could win. For example, if Red Bull dont get a good enough amount of practice done tomorrow then they are screwed for the race. It’s only unlucky stuff that will ruin Red Bull’s chances

Hahahaha. Omd this made me laugh too hard. I’m actually a massive mercedes fan 😂. I’m even currently applying for an apprenticeship in the F1 team. Mercedes is by far my favourite team. They have changed the game so much and I have gained so much respect for them too. Especially over the last year or so when i started making videos. This video was my early thoughts on testing and bahrain. I filmed this like two days after Bahrain. As you can see by the date of the video, it was made a week after the Bahrain testing, at a point where no one had a clue. So yes, it was a theory. And I stressed that. However, I stand by the fact that this championship is Red Bull’s to lose. They have the better car so they should be way ahead. If they don’t win the double then they haven’t maximised this year.
