Guenther Steiner: The Man Behind Drive To Survive

Спорт

Guenther Steiner is a renowned motorsport engineer and team manager, best known for his current position as the Haas Formula One Team Principal. With over 30 years working in motorsport, Guenther is highly admired throughout the community and has become a leading figure in popular Netflix series, ‘Drive to Survive’.
In this episode, he describes how he found his way to a career in racing, his aproach to management and how he nurtures his relationships with drivers and team mates to help push the team forward. In addition to this, Guenther shares how it feels to watch one of his team suffer from a serious crash, and the burden of hoping to see them emerge from the wreckage.
You can read more of Guenther's story in his new book. More information is available at www.penguin.co.uk/books/45168...

Truly one of the best team principles we've ever had in F1. He could easily take over for any TP on the grid and continue or even further its success. Lets not forget this man was technical director for Red Bull during its baby years, his drivers obviously have great respect for him, and the whole of Haas F1 team have that family dynamic they have because of Guenther

One of the nicest men. One of the most grounded. But you can't put him as one of the best team principles when we have men who have ran teams who won consistently for an era or two. Would i have a beer with Horner? No, I would rather punch him the face for being a horrible man. But his achievements are a different league. But a beer with Guenther would be enjoyable.

That's a pretty ludicrous claim I would say. First of all - how does being a technical director translate to being a good TP? Binotto case says it doesn't. And I'm sorry but Haas brings some entertainment to the grid but in no shape or form do they bring any amounts of professionalism. Those russian shenanigans where the final straw for me to relegate Haas and Gunter to the comic relief section of F1 and they haven't proved me wrong since

I like Guenther and his decisive no nonsense attitude. The most difficult part is getting the right people and managing people. It’s important not to stay in a job you don’t like. I see a few negative people at work and honestly I wonder why they stay and don’t move on. Their attitude just works against the team and brings down others around them.

Feetback guys. I am about 15min and you started to talk about his book. It would be nice if you would have his book on your table. Instead of seeing laptop,, phone and cup of brew. or you could show his book on the corner of screen. At the end it is his time and I think you should present him better way. I am only watching you because of Steiner and would be reluctant to go back again to listen to you guys. You have great questing and you are working well together. I would add higher table or table beside each person and you don't have to bend to put your cup away. the way you are holding it looks like you are cold and. you are heating yourself. Even nive big plant between you and guess. I am not criticizing you just making suggestions and observations.

Watching people who are good at their job do their job is one of the greatest pleasures in life. And Gunther is good at his job! It's easy to underestimate what it takes to put together and keep together a large team of people of different skills, and backgrounds such as are commonly found in Formula One but it's an incredibly complex and difficult job. Getting this look into the hearts and minds of those who pull it off is, to me, as interesting as watching the races themselves. Great interviews made up of intelligent and penetrating questions are as rare as the mechanics, drivers, and managers who form the backbone of Formula One and my hat is off to these highly skilled interviewers!

This man is quite unique in this current modern day world, and the world could highly benefit, by more men adopting his straight forward way of presenting himself!!👍🏁

I really just wanted to share that I think this podcast is excellent. Really interesting and well thought out questions are presented to your guests. I also think that Guenther is an experienced and formidable former TP, with some excellent inside knowledge and insights to share. However I do think there’s a limit. Can you continually fail at HAAS and still have validity in what it takes to be a winner? Yes, you can blame drivers and technical teams and lack of funds but doesn’t the buck ultimately stop with you?
