Don't feel sorry for people who choose to be disposable in exchange for cash when they become rich and discarded. The story never changes because there will always be people willing to take the low road and ho themselves out for fame and fortune. If karma bites them on the rear for being low life trash, chalk it up to the cost of doing business. Marylin's death was as graceful and dignified as her life allowed it to be. They all want to be Marylin. Don't cry for someone who transcended being just a person, even a famous historical person. She became an idea, the personification of feminine sex appeal. She will live on forever and always make gorgeous women feel insecure. How can you pity that level of success? As a little girl I always wondered who the lady copying Marilyn was and why she did it.

Both of them were beautiful and intelligent. They both also were natural brunettes, and the studio people had them change their looks. So Jayne didn't copy her, the studios was trying to replicate the same look they helped come up with for Marilyn. Marilyn's friends would say she knew when to turn Marilyn on & off and I thought that was incredible. She did say she would stand in front of the mirror and study certain looks and body movements. Actually Marilyn had plastic surgeries on her face. Norma jean looks different from her later years. She was not a blonde. She was pretty but I saw other actresses who were prettier. No offense. Prior to Marilyn being a film star, she was an escort hooker and slept her way to the top.

They are both beautiful but I think it's safe to say Marilyn became the icon.

This is a really interesting fact about WHY Marilyn is so famous.. it’s because her estate ended up in the lap of her acting coach ‘s ( Lee Strasberg) second wife, they married after Marilyn died, Marilyn never knew nor met this woman and she sold Marilyn’s image EVERYWHERE to be put on so many things and commercials, she made a lot of money from it and Marilyn’s image became known around the world and it kept getting used so she became more and more famous.. she was pretty legendary but it’s this apparently that lit the torch paper to he fame.. I thought this was so fascinating when I found out!

Jayne was an extremely intelligent woman and knew exactly, what she was doing 👍

Sad to say that everytime on the road I'm reminded of Jayne, because of her death every big rig trailer has a Mansfield bar.

I completely agree….and with Mariska working so hard to get to where she is today, it just seems so wrong and distasteful for people to talk negatively about Jayne or Marilyn…. **I was watching a young Mariska Hargitay about 6 months ago when she had a small role on the TV Show “ER.” It’s so crazy because she played a character that is literally the “opposite” of “Olivia/Liv” on Law and Order: SVU… It’s also fascinating to see a young George Clooney on “ER” and an even younger Clooney on “Roseanne” from the late 80’s!! 😊 They’ve BOTH come a long way baby! Again, as far as Jayne and Marilyn are concerned… let us all let them be remembered for the Gorgeous, Curvy, Blonde Icons who both may have played the typical “dumb blonde roles” but who were Both about as dumb as a “fox.” If you know what I mean! Good for them Btw!! 🦊🦊Foxes may appear or seem timid but they almost always outsmart their predators and their prey! 👍😉❤️🌟 And hey! There’s a famous saying, “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.” So Marilyn supposedly copied some of Marlene Dietrich’s looks/mannerisms and Jayne supposedly copied some of Marilyn’s! Norma Jean was pissed because she always felt she didn’t have anything to herself, nothing is actually hers, not even herself, she always felt unloved, and I think JFK might have made her feel that love she always looked for. I believe she died feeling unloved. It’s all she talked about in her book. It’s so incredibly sad to read about how she basically never felt like a real person, marylin was a character, and Norma was a orphan with nothing. Even with her fame, she felt she had nothing. That’s how powerful love is, it is more than money, fame, legend. But the difference is we need love, not the others. She was very smart, knew love is the most powerful thing on this earth, and it’s all she ever wanted to feel… 💔

Marilyn should have just ignored her and never acted like she acknowledged her in anyway. The more you react the more anyone will ever feed off of you.

I think she did ignore her. There are photographs of them together: Marilyn didn't even look at her. JM even commented that she wasn't very cordial towards her, and she never publicly commented about her either that I am aware of.

It's hard to ignore anyone being notorious for copying everything about you to the point of parody, Marilyn was way classier than given credit for, especially with her upbringing, she worked hard for her icon status. Mansfield was a beautiful woman, but didn't get to be as iconic as Marilyn, having said that it's sad that they both had tragic endings.

I also have my own theory about what happened to Marilyn, she was looking forward to her future as an actress which is as we know what she always wanted, to be regarded as a serious actress, she thought it would be a natural progression after her prime as a sex symbol, so i highly doubt she took her own life, it was at the very least accidental, which i highly doubt also.

That’s why Marilyn Monroe is the most iconic woman of all time,still to this day every woman is trying to imitate her

Both died very young and in tragic ways. Mansfield had to say goodbye to a few kids who she would never see grow up. Actress Mariska Hargatay looks just like her mom, but with black hair.

Marilyn didn't need Jane to degrade her image... she did that all by herself, with her baby talk, phony helplessness and her marital affairs. I always thought Jane was, but she wasn't promoted as much as much as Marilyn. If Colonel Tom Parker managed Jane, I think she would have surpassed Marilyn. PS. Jayne Mansfield had a very high IQ.

Yea... Marilyn used "baby talk", better than Jaynes pout, and squeaks, and mincing steps. And, that unnatural booster bra...eek. I've seen pictures of her without and she actually looks like a normal woman, not a cartoon. People tired quickly of her nonsense.

I don't think Marilyn paid much attention to Jayne. She was on strike from Fox, so Fox hired Jayne as a threat. I don't think Fox had any real interest in Jayne's longevity but they had put her in the spotlight for a while as a high stakes bluff. Then when Marilyn successfully negotiated a new contract with Fox, they dropped Jayne like a hot potato. They started loaning her out to cheap European productions, pocketing the thousands of dollars each time while only paying Jayne her measly contract salary. I don't think Marylin gave Jayne much thought or concern, she was too busy living her own life and even started her own production company. She didn't let the studios bully her around. Jayne on the other hand got on her knees and practically had to beg to be put in front of the camera as her career went on.

There was no Bette Davis - Joan Crawford' feud, and even that was greatly blown out of proportion. Still, Marilyn did not like Jayne, and how the studio tried to threaten her with Jayne, which quickly failed.

Also most film studios had their own actress to play the blonde Bombshell. Mamie Van Doren was Universal studios
