The Malaysian Passport is famous for two things: 1. It was the only passport that could bring its owner to North Korea without a visa. 2. It bans its holder from going to Israel. These two characteristics make Malaysian passport one of the most bizarre passports in the world.
Malaysia has had a close relationship with North Korea. However, that friendship has been on suspension due to a mysterious political assassination in 2017.
In one of my previous videos, I discussed how Malaysia is one of the countries that straight out bans Israeli passport holders from entering. Fortunately, Israel did not retaliate by banning Malaysians from visiting. Rather, it’s the Malaysian government that forbids its own citizens from travelling to Israel. On the first page of the Malaysian passport, it says the passport is valid for all countries except Israel.
However, there are much more to the Malaysian passport than the things we just mentioned, more in the video.

The title is misleading. Our passport isn't banned. It's us who don't recognize Israel as a country. There's no such thing as Israel. So how could we enter a place that doesn't exist in the first place?

orang cina malaysia here, alot of these Malaysian Chinese have this blind vision that Australia is the heaven, because they're a quote on quote "western" country. and many times these Malaysian Chinese hate their own culture and being Malaysian, and suck up to Australia. In Chinese there's a saying "從洋媚外", it means fawning, and this is the mentality of most if not all of the Malaysian Chinese who enter Australia using illegal means.

It is incorrect to say the visa requirement is due the love hate relationship between Malaysia and China. Malaysia has a large ethnic Chinese population and so they're conscious of further influx of more Chinese people from China. But Chinese tourists are the no. 1 arrivals in Malaysia and the main money earner, so they now already has visa on arrival policy for them, though they still need to first apply online. But China still requires visa for all countries, including Malaysia.

As a Malaysian, that sounds pretty good, the only bummer is Israel for me as a Christian who want to visit to Israel for religious and friends reasons, that can get super expensive and complicated. As for the US, Canada and Australia, maybe it's a bummer, but those countries are expensive for an average citizen like myself, so it really doesn't matter for the moment until I find the need to travel there. Fortunately, this passport can still allow us to travel to most East Asian countries visa free, nevermind China or North Korea, so I can't complain except for the Israel one.
