yes my senses got used to PH man-made annoyances such as litter, sewer smell, noise of motorbikes, karaoke, substandard public toilets and learnned to accept them all as part of PH sights and smell immersion. Things that only a handful of vloggers will dare document. My only annoyance left is when they use the word paradise. Hell I can’t accept that kind if pinoy baiting it’s pure gaslighting.

Happy Anniversary, Paul and Mae. I've been to the Philippines quite a few times back in the 90's (when I was a bit younger) and had fun over there. The advantage of living in the Philippines (in my opinion) is that many do speak English, while other SE Asian countries don't. I would suggest taking trips to different countries (Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam), to see which country could be your next home. The good thing about living in an Expat community, is that you could get some help from them, to get things set up. You would have to determine what is more important to you: people speaking English, infrastructure, good hospitals, food, nightlife, less pollution, cheaper rent, adequate housing, friendship with the locals and/or other expats.

Pls go back to where you came.from. dont change us and my country. If you complain and find us not according to your standards then go back where you came from. Every country has their own pros and cons. We dont want you if you dont like us. As visitors adapt to your host country. Dont change us and respect us because you are not perfect but racist.

Good job, Paul. I'm a 75 year old USA expat living here fulltime retired on SS. Married to a Filipina who takes good care of me for over 10 years.. I'd hate to live here on my own. She's my muse, I just help with the bills and follow her lead. Just grateful to have a loving soulmate who guides me through and around all the pitfalls of a different culture. I don't miss the USA except for some family and friends I stay in touch via Messenger and Skype. You tube is my connection to the world, sitting in my sturdy rocking chair . I have no interest in being part of an expat community. Don't speak much tagalog but get by with English and my wife's translations. Fun and beautiful country full of problems, Life is an adventure, go live it. Glad I live here and not somewhere else. My grass is green enough here, not looking for more.

Hello Paul, i arrived in Cebu City on 02/17/2024 and was surprised how different it really is even with over a year of research and listening and watching your vids and many others, so far its been three 4 days since i arrived and i have yet to meet an unfriendly Filipino they are so nice and they try to be as helpful as they can. I love the food the people the laid back way of life i have dicovered here. The only individuals that i have met at malls, grocery stores, coffee shops restaurants etc. that will not acknowledge even a simple hello are other expats, very sad indeed, i will be here on my retirement recon mission till 03/11/2024 and i will hang out with the happy people,Thank you Paul for the valuble information you have shared with us through out the years.

Sometimes both are right next to each other. 🤔 I’ve come to accept the good with the bad, but overall, accepting the lifestyle here, I still see more good than bad. Since this will be my forever land, I’ll try to stay in the better end of the scale

Thanks for the latest video Paul. One of the many reasons You are my go to guy is your candor and views. It's as if you and I are seeing things through the same prescription glasses. It will be soon that Juls and I return. One of the 1st things that I want to glean from you is a referral to the attorney that has handled several matters for you and Mae. I don't know when I'll ever learn my lesson about putting me/us out there and trusting others who initially seem to want to help or facilitate our goals. I've endured and painfully made sacrafices and lost big time in trusting people. Someday, we'll meet and begin what I know will be a great friendship. I haven't forgotten that Mae is fond of chocolate. Take care buddy and stay safe.

Me too fat woman with a tattoo on her neck is something I recall of the white trash living in a run down trailer in America. There are lots of poverty in most cities in the Philippines as well as homeless drug addicted places in Los Angeles, Oakland, San Francisco in America. I stay away from those areas and same in the Philippines. I can afford to stay in resorts and upscale places in Manila like BGC, Makati, Pasig, MANILA bay Area also in Cebu IT park, Mactan Newtown, iloilo near the Esplanade and short stays in Boracay, El Nido, Coron, Panglao island in Bohol and Samal Island in Davao. Since Im older I stay near the big cities near a good hospital.

Hi Paul. I've never commented before, I don't live in the Philippines and I never will, but for some reason your video popped up on my feed about 3 years ago while I was in quarantine in Thailand when you were still quite new. Anyway, of course, I got sucked into many other channels but faithfully l watch yours and feel like I know you. You look almost identical to my father when he was younger (im in my early 40s) but I just want to say how much I appreciate your maturity and level-headedness. I have seen the "DRAMAguete" stuff these past couple of weeks and there are so many channels that sit on the camera for hours and just talk about people's lives that they dont know and dehumainze people and literally yell and scream at each other - its beyond crazy. I appreciate that you aren't one of them and it makes you stand out from the rest of the crowd. Well done, you are THE stand-out channel in the Philippines full of honesty, integrity and sanity. Keep it up.

Been here full time since October after being back and forth for 9 years. Cons are traffic, poverty, pollution, mostly unhealthy food, and healthcare, especially if you are a senior citizen. I’ve personally almost been in two scooter accidents from people driving on wrong side of road or not paying attention. Driving is chaotic here. Pros, costs (but rising), people, English language everywhere, islands and beaches (those not polluted). Great video post, well said!

I can never do what they did, trashing globally a country. Keep in mind, just about any place you visit has areas like those. We have less than desirable areas here in the good old USA. We don't hate the Philippines after coming here for 41 years now and the last 8 years of living here full time..We knew years ago the medical care and facilities here lets just say its not the best..far from it.. For those reasons & a few more We made the plan to be out of here by the time i turn 68 and I'm turning 65 next month..We planned well the last 38 years..For our senior years..We will be in the Ocala fla. Area For better health care, better roads & drivers. Better restaurants. My wife & I have been married now for 41 years. And we're going to celebrate our 42nd anniversary in Singapore in August. We love to travel Singapore & Australia are our favorite go to places. Even though we're moving back to the states we will still come back here every year for a month or two..and do that for as long as we can health wise..It pays to plan well..

I was surprised watching your video because last year I had the feelings that you have enough from the Philippines. Now it sounds more positive and l am happy for you.... Most of the vloggers don't know anything about the Philippines and the Filipinos when they posting their videos. The information they have is only second hand information which can be very positive or very negative. If you live more than 30 years in SEA and 18 years in the Philippines you will have a different opinion than people who are still in tourists mood when they move to the Philippines. Life is what you made and not what others say.... I am retired since 7 years and it's the best time of my life without thinking about others opinions.... Thanks for your vlog and keep doing it in a positive way ....

Thanks Paul! My 2cents. Its really showing peoples life experience. There will be good and bad anywhere you move. I've been lucky? in living in different places in my country and different countries. Moving to a new place is overwhelming at first. Where to find things, where to go, where NOT to go, etc. If you are not able to change your mindset to live in a new place, learn new routines, language, money, law, you shouldn't be there. That said, I plan to move to the Philippines when I retire. I've done my research, understand the downsides and drawbacks but still believe it is in the top 4 places to live as an expat. IF you CAN be an expat - you know what I mean. :) Congrats on your Anniversary! Hope you are as happy in 30 years as you are today.

Good morning from England Paul, though it's afternoon over in your place, I've been all over the Philippines travelling there since 1992 well before mobile phones and the internet, despite these vast differences like the heavily polluted Pasig river to the beautiful sea in Boracay, the very hot and humid Leyte to the cool Baguio, the street seller with chicken feet to eat, to the Marco Polo hotel with exquisite delicious foods you thought weren't even available in the Philippines, and of course the smiling friendly Filipinos, if you can just go with the flow of often slow bureaucratic progress and often very slow traffic, then this is the place for you, I'm emigrating very soon, once I've got a pad sorted and the visas explained at the Philippine Embassy 😊

I regularly talked with my American friends and I truly believe I have it much better than them. My money goes much farther than theirs. I spoil my family and myself at least once a month. The problem many people fail to understand is each person looks at things differently. What one man might find great, for another guy it is a problem. A good comparison is every guy I know has a different taste in women. It is not good or bad, just different. As for the Philippines, I visited once and discovered real fast, it was not for me. The thing that every man should do is go there and check it out for himself. If you know you prefer Asia, then go check it out and decide for yourself.

well.....I went to that link and listened to those vloggers and I got a good laugh. Here are 2 entitled people, used to what a first rate country offers, and tried to compare a developing country to theirs. They stressed all the bad things they saw and didn't really go to any places other than the worst cities in the Philippines (in my opinion). They didn't go to any of the provinces which offers many nice things for visitors, nor did they find any of the large grocery stores the Philippines have. All I heard was "negativity". They said the temperature was always 100 degrees, but they didn't go to the areas higher in elevation which is much cooler. I could go on and on, but perhaps they need to do their homework before they go to any other country. "Don't judge someone without walking in their shoes".

The problem with expats living on US$1000 pension, they tend to settle down on third class provinces, that is why they experience those power outages, poor infrastrucures, less choices for good restaurants, supermarkets, and other amenities. For me personally, I can settle down in 3rd class provinces because the nature and sceneries are unspoiled, and the food are always fresh and organic.

I am 74 years old with a filipino wife of 16 years, we are returning to our home in the US because we have had enough of the RP. However, that being said I do agree if your pension or SS is not enough to live anywhere else then the RP works for you, especially when the exchange rate is north of 50 to 1. Like you said, " You just want a peaceful retirement in the Philippines." I'm sure that I could make it there as well, as I'm a single 66 year old man. Just would need some advice on certain things. Like housing, restaurants, transportation, and how not to be taken advantage of by someone. First time in the Philippines for me, I was in Makati, and stayed at The Y2 Hotel. Just over $100 a night, but a big cultural shock by so many people and vehicles everywhere!! The trains and jeepneys reminded me of poorer area of Mexico. Great video 😊

I married a Filipina 10 years ago and dated for 2 years before that…we have a small house in Lapu Lapu and a larger one in rural Medellin at the north tip of Cebu Island. Good things about Philippines: sweet attractive women that like older guys, generally good basic inexpensive food with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, relatively inexpensive (can make due on $1-2k/month), nice people. Bad things: it’s hot really hot (can’t really go outside between 10a and 4p, limited access to western food, terrible traffic and crowded if living in the city, lots of street dogs all over, litter and poverty (but people seem happy), need at least $3K/month if you want more of a western lifestyle.

I just got back from a trip to Dumaguete. I wouldn’t live in that place.

Nope I don't need 3k a month in USA money to survive in the Philippines! I more conservative about my way of living as a western man !!

Good for you Keith. I do have a question. Are you able to go without AC? Electric and other expenses, Automobile for example, just add to my monthly budget.@@keith3812
