If someone asked who would replace Hamilton at Mercedes 2-3 years ago, everyone would've said Ocon. Strange how that one season break might even have demolished his carreer or at least the hope for a big seat. Because as it currently stands, Ocon would be quite far down the list for Mercedes which is so strange considering how well Ocon was doing when he got the sack from Force India. Opinion in Ocon?

I like Ocon and I rate him as a driver, however, he didnt perform against Daniel Ricciardo. To me, that makes sense. Ricciardo is probably one of the top 5 drivers in the sport at the moment and I dont blame him not performing on par with him in his first year back. However, Ocon does need to prove that he deserves his seat this year by beating alonso. If he does that, I think he would be in line to become Russell's rear gunner at mercedes in the next couple of years. If he doesn't, I feel it will stall his career even further and he could be in a similar position that gasly was in when he got demoted. BUT he is a great driver and was able to go up against the likes of Perez so I still think he will get the merc drive eventually. Don't forget, Toto Wolff is his manager and he was the one who got Ocon the deal with Renault so dont count him out for the merc seat.

Yup absolutely agree with you... that or it is marketing to get more sponsors and get paid the amount he wants

All facts sound good but the teammate one I don’t agree with. This is because he has been interviewed before and asked who would he have if he could choose and he said he didn’t care as he raced Alonso in his first career and beat him👍🏻 other than that the others sound good

Why? F1 is a business feeling the pressure as much as everyone else just now . If he wants a drive lower his asking price ! He has enough money ! Hes not irreplaceable

That's a good shout, I never really considered that. My view was that while he has the chance to, he would get all the championships he can then retire when there's big regulation changes such as in 2022. Maybe he had planned to retire at the end of 2020 but because the regulation changes got postponed by a year he is now sorting out everything to race for another year. He probably had things planned with the music and fashion industries that now have to be moved back or something idk, but some interesting stuff to talk about for sure, we'll have to wait and see
