I’m in my sixties & it’s taken me decades to listen to that inner voice, or intuition. I have made decisions following reason. I married young acting against my intuition believing that I would live happily ever after. My life has since been a roller coaster of a ride. I now listen to that voice allowing myself to be guided by that internal wisdom. If it doesn’t feel right, I simply don’t or wont do it. This sometimes means saying ‘no’ to certain people, events or situations.

I married young acting against my intuition as well. I knew in my heart that it was a bad decision but told myself things would work out...can you imagine..But I was blessed with two amazing daughters who are the loves of my life.

Yes.! I can relate. I remember standing in front of the marriage celebrant and thinking how this was so wrong and I shouldn't be doing this. But I was so young and immature and went ahead with it regardless of the warning bells. I have paid a huge price for that decision.

Can't agree more with each word! Intuition comes from the heart, which is connected to the Divine and thus Should be trusted unconditionally. Many years ago, I did not know that and found myself in unpleasant situations not once. All the misfortunes come from the mind, from rational thinking based on the past. Correct decisions come during meditations or after sleep or sometimes after a couple of days you "send" a question to the Universe. The greatest Spiritual Teacher of modern time, Eckhart Tolle, talks a lot about the harm mind causes (his videos are here on YT). YES, careful listening is needed.

I think we are much more than we realise. Intuition is like our inner self speaking to us and guiding our steps, unfortunately one sometimes just ignores it, not out of rebellion but out of uncertainty of their importance. There have been many situations where I have had an intense intuition, feeling or premonition if you may, yet I didn’t act on them. I now firmly believe that we are more powerful than we give ourselves credit for and we should go with our “gut” feeling. Even if things don’t turn out as we want immediately it is all good in the end.

I’ve got many stories of listening and then not listening to my intuition. My latest big lesson was when I didnt listen to my intuition over and over again and dated a guy for a year and even got engaged only to find he was already married. He was very convincing. But it was a good lesson because after that I met more men similar to him whom I did not date because I DID listen to my intuition. I’m still single but happy I did not get caught up into some very sketchy situations after that.

My most memorable intuition was about an upcoming trip to New York city with my sister. Being from a small town of 3,000 I was already apprehensive . I had 2 dreams before the trip. Mind you all l can remember is 2 flashes of these dreams.. One dream was a plane had crashed into the side of a large green hill. People were being brought into a hospital , triaged with toe tags. The next was I was in New York city and there was total chaos. I couldn't find my sister and there was dark smoke and grey particles in the air as if a bomb had exploded and I was in the fallout of it. Needless to say I said I didn't want to go to the city and we chose another place to vacation. 2 weeks later was September 11th. Like the world I couldn't believe the events that were happening! I checked the luggage tag still on my bags. It was a Delta flight. It was not one of the planes. But I believe it might have been in the works 2 weeks before.

Intuition is a gift if we trust ourselves to listen. The Gift of Fear by Gavin De Becker looks at examples where gut instinct saved lives. Love this video!

Yes, Sabe. Intuition is a gift. But fear definitely is not. Fear paralyses. Caution is always to be recommended.

Intuition is your unconscious mind at work. The unconscious mind is 90- 95% of your thinking. In general, your conscious brain deals with the here and now, this very second, what is right before you. The unconscious mind is a store of memories from all of your past experiences, including beliefs. Your conscious mind registers that something is hot, while your unconscious mind reminds you why not to take something from a hot oven without protection. If it wasn't for the unconscious mind, every time we took a step to walk, it would be like walking for the first time. When we navigate our home at night, the unconscious self is navigating. It is how you know what is in the next room, where to reach for the light switch, etc..Our dreams come from the unconscious mind. Listening to your intuition is listening to your unconscious mind, when your conscious mind to too distracted/overwhelmed.

Really enjoyed this topic Margaret! I've had different incidents over the years where I felt I was being warned about something not exactly good happening. So, I have learned to listen to these insightful moments and even taken different roads while driving or not going in certain areas. It's always been helpful for me. I taught my two daughters about it also!

Thanks for bringing up this subject. Not a lot of people talk about it, I find. Yes, I use my intuition all the time now. Wish I had done that as a young woman but I didn't notice my gut feelings back then or maybe they just increased when I got much older. I'm probably more sensitive to it now. But when I was 29 about to marry my second husband I had a strong feeling not to marry him. Unfortunately it was at at the doorway of the church when I was about to walk down the aisle, everybody seated and waiting. I went thru it anyway. I didn't want to let anyone down. It's not that he was a bad man but the marriage ended up being a mistake. I wonder if my life would have been totally different had I listened to my intuition all the times I should have? Many things were disappointments. I made many poor decisions.

A gypsy selling wild flowers foretold that my friend's life would shortly change forever. Within a few weeks her son had committed suicide and her husband died of an aggressive brain tumour. On another day that same gypsy offered me flowers and asked if I would like to know what lie ahead. I replied that because of my friend's misfortune, I would prefer not to know. She smiled and replied that I should not fear, because my life would always be blessed. Despite the most grave experiences of my life, and previous disbelief in prophesy, I have indeed been blessed to have not only survived every unimaginable event, but also received more than my fair share of good fortune and happiness.

I have a lot of ESP. This may sound crazy, but I can see death on people’s faces. Happened on my wedding day in 1968. I looked at one of the guests and saw that he would die soon - he was healthy! I told my new husband, and he said “Kathy, this is our wedding day!” The guest suddenly died about a week later! We got home from our honeymoon the day before his funeral! Crazy and frightening. This happened several times in my life!

Safety! All the times I’d have a bad feeling about a person. I used to be 325#. Had a surgery years ago, and got to 150#. So I was being flattered by many men. But I learned thru listening to my gut, no, this doesn’t feel right. I give the credit to God for any seemingly good ideas I have. As a Father he has kept me safe more times than I care to remember that way! 💜🫶🏼💜

In the 80's I got out of work after midnight and across the parking lot on a side street I noticed a car with one headlight just idling. I immediately knew something was wrong. I left the parking lot and just a block down the road this car zoomed up behind me, went around, and slammed on their breaks in front of me. Because I was hyper alert I was able to steer my way out of the situation of rear ending them (3 adult males in car). It was either an insurance scam or carjacking or god forbid a kidnapping. I returned to work where there was security and calmed down before going home.

Throughout my life I've never been worried or put off by turning a decade older from 20, 30 40 or 50, but my 60th February birthday in 2020 had me feeling very anxious, not because of turning older...but, feeling that something terrible was going to happen...of course, just 1 day after my Birthday, the pandemic broke out. In an earlier year I had a horrifying dream of an awful occurrence that was happening somewhere and woke me up...but I didn't know what had occurred until the news the next morning told of a mass shouting in a movie theater where no once could escape. It wasn't near me. Second sight, as my mom would call it (she had second sight) can't be explained rationally, it just happens. Thanks for a very good question to ask of us!!

I will get a bad feeling that I know something is going to happen. I don’t know what, but I know it is. I really don’t like to get those. I will have a dream about someone I haven’t seen in years and then I’ll see them in a day or two. One time I kept dreaming about electric for about 3 times. A few weeks later someone cut all the new electrical wires out her house they were working on. One time I kept dreaming about fire. Then about 3 weeks later my son n law was burning something’s. It blew up on him and threw him again their house. He got burned real bad on part of his face and one of his arms. They took him to burn center. You can’t tell he was burned today. They used Cadaver skin on him. I like discussing like these.

It happened once when I was in grade school. I knew the night before that I didnt want to go to school with my mom. Next day was my first car accident. Then when my daughter and I were in Greece looking at the Parthenon at night from our hotel. I looked at her and said we wouldnt be able to travel for 2-3 years she asked why and I said not sure. Then Covid hit later that year. My gut always warns of either danger or other bad things happening it seems sadly no winning lottery numbers for me.
